If you are on the way to Banff, Canada then please DON'T overlook Calgary! Calgary isn't just a stopover city--it's a great foodie destination! We traveled in the summer and the weather was wonderful, but even if you go during the cold season it's easy to get around using the +15 Skywalk--an entirely indoor pedestrian walkway that connects the city. The skywalk is a fun labyrinth to explore, and there are lots of great shops and restaurants within . . . like Hoopla Donuts. Y'all, we ate way too many donuts at this famous Canadian donut shop, but no regrets. We also found one of our all-time favorite BBQ joints--Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey. Yes, you heard that right: one of our favorite BBQ spots is in Canada. This place had a low-lit, speakeasy vibe and served some superb cocktails that paired perfectly with damn good BBQ. We will also share our hotel recommendations for downtown Calgary and the surprisingly awesome airport hotel. Trust us, don't look past Calgary.
