Thank you for very infomercial reviews of 24 strings lyre harp. I have a similar 24 strings as you have but it’s a box type. The first things I did after unbox was untied all 24 strings and recoiling them up ward instead of down ward this way it helps the strings stays in tune more, the method which are very similarly to Riverie harp if you could see the RU-vid video on how to restring the Riverie harp. Then I uses the Kalimba’ s tuning hammer tapping the tuning wrench up/down to fine tune all the strings to its correct pitch. After one years of regularly tuning and playing now my lyre strings stays in tune more and more. Now I can just pick my lyre and plays without having to tuning it too often like they were when I first got them.

That is a very cool looking lyre. I love the way they did the bridge with the S-shape. It looks and sounds darn good! This was a super informative video BTW. It was a review and a lesson on tuning lyres all in one. LOL. So good to see the new puppy there at the end. What a cutie and yes... Bailey totally approves.

Awe thanks so much ! Yes I really like this lyre and can't wait to get it in tune to play some music It will be fun to use maybe even with the tongue drums And that's what I was thinking that a lot of folks have asked me many times about tuning so I would throw it into this one especially that Gracie was kind enough to take a nice nap And I'm so glad you got to see Gracie and I appreciate your kind words about Bailey !! Thanks friend !! 💕🎶

I’m interested in buying one, how are you liking yours so far?
@nova-kiin
@nova-kiin 2 года назад
@@elleekani I’m giving you a FULL review so it might be long! I absolutely LOVE it, it took about a week for my strings to settle, the first day was frustrating as it got out of tune while I was struggling to tune the other strings 😅 I had to tune it 3 times during the day to have it stay long enough to play something. The second day and the others were better, but I tuned and played the hell out of it every single day of that week, which is why it worked that fast I think. I’ve had it for 2 weeks now, it sounds full and soothing, though I occasionally have to tune 1 or 2 strings here and there. It’s sometimes uncomfortable to hold when playing with both hands so I got a piece of fabric similar to a telamon, this way I can wrap the fabric around my wrist and use both hands without having to stabilize the lyre. Because it has 24 strings, you might end up having a hard time keeping track of them. It’s kinda hard for me to play without having the strings marked in some way, but I still haven’t found a reliable way to mark them. Nail polish on the strings changes the sound so I removed it, and some people have suggested using posca or sharpie markers on C and F strings, but it doesn’t stay on the thinner strings, it just peels away as soon as your finger touches it, and because the thicker strings are slightly furrowed, it stays better but it muffles the sound so bad that the strings no longer give that resonance and now I have to change them, so I wouldn’t suggest doing that 😅 some people just mark the knobs at the top but I like looking at the strings instead when I play so I’d like the strings themselves to be marked, if you have a suggestion 😅😅 Because it has 24 strings, but its size is barely bigger than the size of a 16 strings lyre, the strings are pretty close together, so playing it requires some focus, but I do finger exercises often, at least once every day, so now I’ve gotten used to them. I’d suggest doing that for at least a week, unless you’re used to notes being close together. I don’t think you can expect to play harmonics on this type of lyre, I’ve tried and it doesn’t work. You would have to place your left pointer finger under the strings where the harmonics can be played, then pinch the string with your other hand while immediately removing your finger, so it’s tricky, but that’s the only way I’ve managed to play them so far. The bowl of the lyre easily picks up dust and little particles so it needs to be cleaned often and stored in its protective bag/case, I’ve found. Lastly, I tuned my lyre in C major, so I try to only find sheets and tabs in C major, but sometimes I’ll find a piano sheet that’s easy to convert, so you can definitely change the scale to C major (or just tune your lyre differently for every song but that’s tedious). Sometimes it doesn’t work very well to change the scale though, especially if there are accidental notes in the melody. So you have to work around that, find strategies to fool your ears into not picking up the inaccuracy. But it’s a very easy instrument to get into, especially if you already have some musical knowledge, but even without it, I find that it’s a pretty forgiving instrument. So I’d say absolutely go for it!

@@nova-kiin Hi, so I'm looking into becoming the musician in my family since my brother is a coder and my sister is an artist while I've been stuck with no talents for years and I've been really interested in instruments and I have absolutely no idea what to do with a stringed instrument, so do the strings settle on their own or do you have to play it for it to settle? I don't want to sound stupid but I've just played a recorder and xylophone so that's why I don't know anything about string instruments. I am going to get this exact harp soon, a few kalimbas, and hopefully a violin in the future so I just want to know what to do when I do get the harp.

Just discovered the lyre side of youtube just in time for my birthday! Thanks for this video! You mostly see the 16 string lyres but I'm used to playing a chromatic instrument (the recorder) so I'm afraid I'd find less strings more restrictive. This instrument is definitely a top contender. I'd like to ask, do you find it strange that the lower notes are further from you? I don't play a string instrument, but considering you need to stabilize the lyre with one hand is it still possible to play the bass notes and the melody at the same time?

Looking to find 24 strings in the other orientation... I may have to settle for 16 or 19 string. My brain wants to look at this like a piano with notes going up from left to right. Still dubious of getting the right one even after double checking pictures, I imagine "making sure" and still getting something "backwards" that's even more trouble to return.

Hi ma'am! I'm actually going to buy the same harp but I don't know where to find strings for it since it's 24 strings but the seller only have 19 strings. If I'm going to buy the same 19 strings twice, can I put the rest of thin and tiny strings to fit the 24 holes? Thanks and God bless! ☺️

Hiii, I'm getting a lyre soon and while looking for tuner apps and stuff, do you know of any app I should use on app store? (I also found one but it asked what instrument and there was no lyre, only guitar (6, 7, and 12 string), ukulele, bass (4 and 5 string), violin/fiddle, cello, viola, cavaquinho, mandolin, balalaika, and banjo (4 and 5 string), am I supposed to use one of those following instrument options for it or is there supposed to be a lyre option?)

I can’t speak for those reviewers. My experience wwas positive but I know how to tune these with very little twists. These are not guitsr tuners. These are different and that is why I stress to turn very tiny increments. This was my experience and yours may be different so perhaps vying on the side of caution is best. I just got one. After a few minutes of playing, it’s probably one of the worst instruments I’ve played. Most of the strings can’t even keep in tune for a note
@MariaCalfaDePaul
@MariaCalfaDePaul 2 года назад
I know how you can fix that : first you have to take the tuning tool and you have to push each peg a little into the wood as you turn Also the strings have to stretch

I know sometimes it can take multiple tunings everyday for 1-2 weeks before the strings "settle. So maybe that's why. It's definitely a patience first instrument imo
