I'm learning some phrases because there's a Ukrainian girl in my school who can't speak English and I want to be able to make her feel accepted here in Ireland :)
Ukrainian language from different parts of the country seem to be different as well. For example some West Ukrainian dialects are closer to Polish, like the word for 'sorry' in this video, Ukrainian 'Перепрошую' (Pereproshuyu) is clearly very similar to Polish 'przepraszam'. I don't think this word is used in other parts of Ukraine further away from the western regions
I don't have 0% Ukrainian in me But I'm willing to learn, speak, get to know , the culture the Ukrainian way of thinking maybe if I'm lucky marry a gorgeous stacked Ukrainian woman with a good soul and great personality to start a big family with
That's so cool you still have the feelings to the land your ancestors came from! Ukrainians know that we have a very patriotic diaspora in Canada. I wish I knew more about the history of Ukrainian Canadians.. Could you suggest any materials that would help me learning more about the topic?
Doubtfully Ukrainian was widely spoken in Kiev in the 1920s, the Ukrainization was about to be started around that time. It might well be that your grandparents left Kiev in order not to make themselves learn Ukrainian
I cannot pretend that shocking events have opened my eyes. I did not know much about the Ukraine, it’s culture, language at all before these events. However I am moved and want to learn your language. When this horrible chapter in your history is over I would like to come and get to know your people and speak your language. I have pledged support at my local Ukrainian Community Centre and I stand with a free and democratic Ukraine. I know this language learning will take a long time but I’m watching Ukrainian News bulletins on You Tube and watching your amazing You Tube videos too. Thank you and I hope I learn something. Slava Ukraini. 🇺🇦🇬🇧🇺🇦
As an American whose previously studied Russian (and am currently switching to Ukrainian), I HIGHLY recommend other new learners study the alphabet thoroughly. These are both very phonetic languages and being able to read translations will help more than you can imagine.
Appreciate you greatly! I’m American and working with a Ukrainian teacher to learn the language, and your videos have helped a lot with the learning process. Hoping to eventually travel to Ukraine and help with humanitarian aid 😊
Well im from Serbia and i can say that i understand Ukraninan and Russian a little bit. There is some words that we use same here :) Peace and slava to slavic brothers Ukranian and Russian, stop stupid politics and nationalism...
I am an American coming to Poland to help volunteer. This is very helpful. Thank you so much. If anyone knows a software course I can take to learn Ukrainian please let me know. Not on Duolingo or Rosetta Stone, etc. 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Very helpful introduction - Дякую! Would like to know such basic phrases in Ukrainian in anticipation of refugees into our community. Thinking of your people and country every day. 😔🙏 Slava Ukraini!🇺🇦
Thank you so much for sharing this video. It is so easy to follow. I am now studying the words with a small prayer group from my church, Lakewood Church ⛪️ in Houston. I am Jamaican 🇯🇲 living in Texas since 1990. Hopefully you will make more videos with frequent short ask questions in 2022. Thank you 😊
You might like to know that Russia has a "growing interest" in the Caribbean countries. From experience, I can say that Russia being interested in your country is bad news. They might try to bribe government officials or try to manipulate popular opinion in one of the Caribbean countries, very possibly Jamaica, to make it a second Cuba. Some sort of violent escalation is also possible, everything from terror strikes to a full scale war, no matter how unlikely war might sound in the region right now.
Hi Megan, greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪 to Jamaica 🇯🇲 and USA 🇺🇸. It’s so sad what is happening in Ukraine 🇺🇦. Best wishes for a lovely day and stay safe 😊🙏 Michael
Thank you! There is a Ukrainian refugee at my school and I need to communicate with her, because I know she’s scared because she knows zero English. So far I’ve helped her with some English phrases but I really want to make her feel more comfortable and welcome knowing that someone cares enough to learn some of her language and attempt to communicate with her
So happy to find your channel. I was starting to learn Russian and realize that both Russian and Ukrainian are used in certain parts of Ukraine. Because I am very interested in Western Ukraine and especially Lviv I am going to try to learn some of both.
Lviv is beautiful. Especially this past winter 🤩 There’s a long tall twisty road that leads to the place, that’s beautifully placed overlooking all parts of the city. It’s a must see.
Inna, you are an excellent teacher, I loved your teaching method and your sweet voice. З усією повагою, Ти така гарна, Ти така неймовірна. Мені подобається тембр вашого голосу , це для мене велика мотивація у вивченні української мови.
I started studying Ukrainian on Nov/2021 I even bought some textbooks because I really want to learn So, thank you so much for helping me in this journey. I know it might seem quite unusual for a Brazilian to study this language, but I find it beautiful and challenging
Very helpful. A lot of phrases sound very similar to Polish, we just use them in slightly different meaning or some have become obsolete in modern Polish.
some foreign words that come from other countries often change their meaning. I like the comparison of the Ukrainian and Turkish languages. the words watermelon, pumpkin, melon, and zucchini have completely opposite meanings, it's very funny. Many Polish words sound funny to a Ukrainian because they have a different meaning in Ukraine.
Дякую Інна!! This really did help, now I’m even more excited to talk to my friends at school that speak Ukrainian! You taught me so much and I’m so thankful 😊 Slava Ukraini 💙💛✌️
My next door neighbors are Ukrainian and it seems like they are having refugees so I think I need some phrases quickly. I can tell my English is not working. I think a few phrases would help them feel welcome.
Hello Inna, thank you so much for teach those phases, I am learning your language because I wanna be a translator, thank you again, greetings from Ecuador

Thanks for posting this video. Since the war started, I've been trying to learn more about the Ukrainian language and culture. This video is helpful. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
Fun fact: you can also use "перепрошую" in the start of conversations when you are asking someone for something. Like: "Перепрошую,не могли б ви сказати де знаходиться туалет?/ I'm sorry, could you tell me where the toilet is? ",sorry for my English, I'm still learning.
From Wash. DC - we wish you the best and safety for you and family! can't thank you enough for the lovely energy you give. may Bohu be with you! hugs Robko
Must commend you: Your pacing is excellent here. Many language channels move too quickly for the average learner. You take your time and speak clearly so we can learn the pronunciation. And you repeat each phrase at least twice. Thank you for your work, from one polyglot to another! 🇺🇦 🇺🇸 I’ll be checking out your other videos. Cheers from Texas. -The TXican
hi, that’s so true! she’s doing great job. i’m also a teacher and i post videos in easy slow Ukrainian so you can repeat correctly 🎉 hope it’ll be useful for you.
Why is my understanding of some Ukrainian words is different, I learned Ukrainian from people who came to the United States after WW2. But for the most part I understand 80%. My family was from Western Ukraine. Thank you for your video, you’re incredible. Wishing peace for 🇺🇦
Wow Vik!. Your mom's dancing is getting so much better! This is so cool you two dancing together. She's beautiful like you..can pass for your older sister!🤩 ❤❤🎵🕺🏼💃🏻
Thank you for this video! I get frequent Ukrainian Student visitors to my Special Education Classroom and want to be able to communicate better with them while they're here in my room. I will watch this video many times. I am also listening to an audiobook, which is somewhat helpful, but being able to see you say the words helps tremendously.
@@SpeakUkrainian Ah, I see. That's probably the reason why I hear it so often - because people keep wondering what the hell I'm saying ;) Anyway, thanks for the video, you can never know enough phrases.
The words sure have changed through the generations because I learned to speak Ukrainian in the 50’s before English and the word “please” in Ukrainian was said as proshoe. I spelt it in English as it sounds in Ukrainian. My Dad was born in Stryi South of Lviv and he escaped from the Nazi’s during WWII and came to Canada. Lots of stories about that War. #9 we never used it ever. #14 I say, “yak shumayish”.
Yes, many have changed, i guess, but we still use "прошу (proshoe)" or "pereproshyyu" and even sometimes "yak sya mayesh" (less often). Some phrases are more typical of the Lviv dialect Hello from Lviv :)
I have made quite few friends that are ukrainian tbrough last job i use to do now we are buddys and check on eachother and watch out for our families. I started learning this past year or 2. But basics. I enjoy it very much. I enjoy thier company more then some americans. And im half italian.
I just started the From an Absolute Beginner to a Confident Speaker course. Volunteered in Ukraine and I want to be able to speak and understand the Ukrainian language. The course very well organized and fun, so far 😂
My godmother shares the same name as you, although it is spelled Ena here, of course. Ironically, I started listening to the podcasts a month or two ago. I think it's good just to listen sometimes and not be distracted by such beauty 😉
How truly lovely to see your fun and informative channel with you again! I watched some of your excellent videos last year. My heart is with you and all your country! Slava Ukraini! I am learning Ukrainian and growing sunflowers here in the garden. May God bless you all there. :)
@@Ukrainian.Language How lovely to hear from you! I feel honored. I love them also. My grandmother grew up in Kansas, the Sunflower State, here in the US, so sunflowers are also special in our family. I am learning Ukrainian as a beautiful language. Also I write poetry in many languages and hope to write simple poems in your wonderful language! You are a super teacher, I feel. Thank you so very much. :)
@@sueannfrizzell1277 I live currently in Missouri and here grow beautiful sunflowers too, but they are smaller than in Ukraine. I'm not Inna but I am also a teacher in Ukrainian. You can check them in my channel and I hope you find the lessons useful. I'm working on more educational videos :)
I’m learning Ukrainian after meeting and becoming close with a Ukrainian refugee. She speaks amazing English, but I want to surprise her when she gets back with some simple phrases to show I’m interested in her culture and language. Time to check out the other videos
