IF YOU BOUGHT THE NEW TANGEM WALLET: Several people have said they received their cards and the security tape is broken or the box is not sealed well. Here’s a reply from Tangem about the issue: “It’s come to our attention that an additional seal that protects the Tangem Wallet box from opening during transportation got damaged. But we guarantee that you have nothing to worry about. Any damage to the box’s seal does not constitute a security breach. Tangem cards cannot be physically modified and our app can accurately check the following: • The card was produced by Tangem. • The card has not been tampered with. Tangem’s end-to-end certification means that it’s entirely safe to buy, even in a city underpass. The most important things to note are that: You have installed the official Tangem app and the cards prompt you to create a wallet. If not, reset the cards to factory settings. At the same time, you receive your cards without a private key. You alone can generate a private key on the card's chip when creating a wallet. Your Tangem Wallet is still as as secure as possible.” Hopefully this helps ease your minds. - Alex

My only question is: is the sealing does not matter really at all, why then they produce sealing in their packaging to only it get broken in transportation! so they have to explain its OK to have broken seal. Its a bit of a discomfort to say the least honestly. I am not questioning their integrity but if I learned one thing in crypto world (which I burnt enough personally in the past) everything is almost always fine and guarantees 100% from the service providers, UNTIL ITS NOT.

Another excellent video. Tangem, IMO, is the only way to go. Why would anyone not get the 3 card set? $10 gives you yet another backup. The 3rd cars goes in you safe deposit box. If you cant keep your cards secure you have no business in crypto.

Thank you. However, if you choose the seed phrase option you don’t necessarily NEED the 3rd card because you can use your seed phrase to recover your wallet. But to your point, $10 for an extra card is a great deal. - Alex

thanks, just checked 3 tripple Set - i like it in analoge mechanic way - the cards are perfect - i dont trust another tech device, a smartphone is good enough and perfect to a onchain wallet - thank you for all the explanations. you havent been the first guy i´m watching about Tangem. Random question 🙋‍♂️ Are all the cards 💳 linked to each other or can they be used separately? Let’s say 3 people can get one card each since you buying 3 cards in your order. I’m just curious if that’s possible.

No, they are linked. You need at least to cards to setup a wallet. So technically if you buy 2 two packs, you could setup two separate wallets.

Thanks for the great content on this wallet!! Quick question. If you do the 12 word seed phrase option are the cards still necessary? Like you mentioned if the cards get lost you can still access your crypto since you have the seed phrase. Does that question make sense?

Yes and no. If you want to use Tangem to approve transactions and manage your crypto, you need the cards. To your point, if you have another brand hardware wallet, you can import your 12 word seed phrase into it and use that wallet as well.

No way. Think of it as a savings account. That said, you could keep it in your wallet without any issues. It’s practically indestructible and not affected by other cards, X ray machines, etc. - Alex

Sorry I am new to all this. You mentioned the cards do not support multiple wallet addresses. Why would I need this? Just checking if it's important to me at this stage, as I'm ready to order the Tangem 2.0s.

Meaning the public address. For example, some wallets allow you to have multiple receiving addresses for ETH. Tangem simply provides a single address for each token. Not really an issue in my opinion. - Alex

Just wondering if by supported, it also means that they can be purchased through the wallet or is it in some cases it just means it can be stored in the wallet? How do we know which network to send to? for example I am holding DOT on an exhange and on the tangum website it shows that it supports 3 networks.

Supported means you can hold it and manage it in Tangem. It doesn’t necessarily mean you can buy or sell it directly in Tangem. And you’d either have to ask your exchange or look for withdrawal or transfer options on the exchange platform. The withdrawal process usually requires selecting a network. Review the available options and see if there's information about the underlying blockchain. Also, your public address might give you some clues as to which network your DOT is stored on, as different networks use different formats for public addresses. For example, Ethereum addresses start with “0x”

Thanks for the fast Feedback CS , I did a Factory reset on my New Tangem Wallet 2.0, they are ready for use. seems like the box security tape is (very thin) and can easily rip on its own just with the Shipping , iam sure Tangem is aware of the matter and will improve the quality of security tape.

If I buy set of 3 and keep 2 backups at different locations for safety. What if I lose the primary card which is with me. Will I still be able to: 1. Use the backup card then 2. Configure remaining 2 cards afterwards in case I change my phone device?

Yes, you will still be able to use the two or even one (if you lose two). I recommend backing up all the cards at once before storing them, this way you can set the PIN code. And even if you get a new phone, you can still use the cards as normal. You’ll just need to scan them and enter your PIN code. That said, if you get the 2.0, you can record and store your seed phrase. Then you can access your crypto using any wallet by simply importing your seed phrase, which is what I do. - Alex

No, simply because you need an NFC capable phone to scan the cards. So a phone is required. But it’s extremely secure if that’s what you’re worried about. - Alex

I’d generate a seed phrase using the Tangem wallet. Then I’d record the seed phrase in a metal seed plate so it’s fireproof, waterproof, etc. And I’d keep that in in a safe or a safe location. You don’t have to do anything to move crypto to another country. Just bring your seed phrase and a wallet. Even if you lost all your Tangem cards, as long as you have your seed phrase, you can access your funds from any wallet by importing your phrase. - Alex

You can disable service/Wifi while generating the seed, but you need to turn it back on to activate the card and the backups which takes place right after the seed phrase screen. And no. Only a handful one wallet can be connected to three cards at a time. If you want to use multiple wallets in the Tangem app, you need to buy 2 sets of cards

How does it use a seed phrase from say a Keystone Pro 3 wallet. I have just set up a Pro 3 but it doesn't have crypto in it yet. Could I use the Pro 3 phrase?

You can import a seed phrase consisting of 12, 15, 18, 21, or 24 words. So if you’re KP3 is a 24 word phrase (without the optional 25 with phrase, you can import it into Tangem - Alex

Depends as they are all different. Tangem = most user friendly Trezor Safe 3 = still beginner friendly with more security features than Tangem Keystone 3 Pro = least user friendly with most security features including optional air gap mode

If you want user friendliness. Go with the Safe 3 (It’s still VERY secure) If you want additional security features like the ability to import multiple seed phrases at once and use it in air gap mode, go with Keystone. Remember, hardware wallets all do the same thing at the end of the day. So it just depends on what features you want. Of course, make sure the wallet supports the coins you hold before buying.

Could you clarify please? If you use the seed phrase method, it generates a 12 word seed phrase (not 24). I believe there’s an option to view your seed phrase by scanning the card and putting in your access code if you need to see it after the initial setup. Nice video Cyber Scrilla! I just got my Tangem Wallet 2.0 today but I'm kind of worried about it! The box wasn't sealed properly so I was able to slide it open without ripping the safety labels. How do I know if its safe to use the wallet? Or should I reach out to Tangem?

Hey Gairo! When you scan your cards using the Tangem app, it verifies the cards and firmware are authentic and not tampered with. BUT. I would definitely contact Tangem about this. Not worth risking it. Did you order directly from Tangem? - Alex

@@cyberscrilla I did contact Tangem. They got back to me and sent the following response: "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, but rest assured, there is absolutely no reason for alarm. Our logistics team has informed us that new orders are currently undergoing customs checks. The package you received might have been opened by customs officials in your country as part of their clearance procedure. They select packages at random for inspection."

You'd have to download a fake version of the app. And even then, I'm not sure if it could extract your private key. BUT, as long as you download the official Tangem app you don't have to worry about that happening - Alex

The card only gives out the generated key once during the setup process, to write the 1-2 backup cards. That is why you can't make further copies down the line. So as long as you don't use a modified software during the setup process, the keys can't leave the card.

The app is open source so it can be recreated. Assuming you have your seed phrase, you can import it into any wallet, not just Tangem.

Yes you can. There’s a wallet icon in the top left corner of the app. If you select “add new wallet” you can add multiple wallets. Then you can switch between your two wallets. - Alex

Yes, but just know you can only use a maximum of 3 cards per private key. But if you’re transferring your funds to three new cards (a new wallet), you can do that no problem. - Alex

I can't believe no one else is asking about this: If you use your primary card to do transactions, and your crypto is stored on the card, how does your backup cards update the information?

Crypto is not stored on the card (or in wallets). It’s stored on the blockchain. Wallets (the cards) hold your private key, which is associated with your unique blockchain addresses. So if you transact, that is reflected on the blockchain and thus any wallet that uses your private key.

You can use multiple sets of Tangem cards. But if you buy the 2 or 3 pack it’s considered 1 wallet as they all share the same private key. And there’s no option to switch in the app. You’d basically have to disconnect one wallet and then scan your other cards to connect. - Alex

So the difference with the old Tangem is that with 2.0 you can create your own private key? Besides this, has it added more security to the TAngem2.0?

No, it has always generated a unique private key. The difference is you can choose to generate and know your seed phase AND import a seed phrase from another wallet. This allows you to recover your wallet even if you lose all your cards. Whereas with the old cards if you lose them, you lose access to your crypto forever. Private keys and seed phrase, although closely related, are different. Besides that and the design, everything else remains the same. - Alex

What if I bought a new cheap phone. Install the app and setup the cards with a seed phrase generated. Once all complete, backed up, activated etc. Then destroy that phone, then reinstall the app on my actual phone, using my login created by the destroyed phone. Would that stop any possibility for the seed phrase to compromised? Thanks your videos have been very helpful.

No, because the vulnerability is when you initially generate the seed phrase on the app. Now MAYBE you can generate the seed phrase while NOT connected to the internet or your service provider and that would help theoretically. I’ll test this once I receive my new cards. The app doesn’t store the seed phrase, your card does, so that’s the good thing. To be honest, as long as your phone doesn’t have malware (someone’s not watching your every move), you’ll likely be okay. And thanks for watching James! - Alex

Ok that sounds good, after install switch off wifi and and data. Then generate. Would be interesting to find out how you get on. I guess some of us (especially me) wouldn't know if we had malware on our phones, that's possibly an obstacle I'll need to research. Thank you again, I'm starting to understand.

You don't have to destroy the phone. Just factory reset one, install just the app, set it up and then factory reset it again. Unless you plan to have millions on the wallet, but then i would buy a fully airgapped one, like the keystone.

Yes. As long as you have your seed phrase written down, you can import it into another cold wallet.

Since the new tangem has the seed phrase option, can you use only one card for one wallet? And then use the other(supposed backup) as a new wallet? Therefore you have 2 completely different wallets?

Nope. You need at least 2 cards to create a wallet. So if you buy a 3 pack but only use 2 cards that extra card would go to waste.

Am i right in thinking... the only risk is when the app shows you your seed pharse on sign up... after that point, there is no way anyone can get access to your wallet even if you spend all day looking at the wallet on your app ? Bit of a random question: but does Tangem or ANY cold wallet allow you to SELECT your seed phrase? As in, I want a seed phrase that I can more readily remember in my brain wallet. Could I generate a 12 word seed phrase like “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog” so that I don’t need to carry anything physical (Tangem card, a USB stick, Trazor thing) across a border?

No. Most seed phrases/wallets are randomly generated from a specific list of 2048 words.

@@MarkOfBitcoin you can create your own seed phrase. But it’s safer to randomly generate a seed phrase. And most of the trusted cold wallets on the market randomly generate it for you. As far as generating the same seed phrase-it’s not impossible, but it is basically a 0% chance as the number of combinations is insane.

Actually your question goes to the heart of the original design philosophy of the Tangem. The original design does not generate a seed phrase. It generates your private key and stores it on the card and that's it. You then make up any password you like, which you can remember, to access your card and move your crypto. The obsession with seed phrases that you hear is because in the bad old days, you had no choice but to write down your seed phrase, which of course is incredibly risky, and the sheep have been programmed to believe that it is somehow necessary, but it isn't.

@ross4061 No. you would connect Tangem to MetaMask using the wallet connect feature in the Tangem app. MetaMask won’t matter as much at that point because your private is stored on Tangem. Honestly, I’ve never tried connecting Tangem to MetaMask so I’m not sure if that works even.

The same way you’d transfer to another wallet. 1. Copy the public address from your exchange account for the coin you want to send. 2. Using the Tangem app, select the crypto you want to send and hit send. 3. Paste your exchanges public address and select the amount of crypto you want to send. 4. Confirm the transaction using your Tangem card. 5. Depending on the exchange you use, you’ll have to convert your crypto to fiat. This is done by tapping your crypto, tap Sell, then choose Cash. From there you can transfer it to your bank account. @diazin.777 Create a new seed phrase using Tangem and transfer your crypto from metamask to Tangem. No need to send crypto back to an exchange before sending it to Tangem. Again, importing a hot wallet seed phrase into a cold wallet (and vice versa) is pointless, as it’s still a hot wallet because the seed phrase has been exposed to the software.

@@Lupsipupsi Strictly talking about seed phrases. If you hold BTC on your Ledger wallet (using one address) you can import it into Tangem along with any other crypto on your ledger device. If Tangem doesn’t support a coin that you hold on Ledger for example, then you won’t be able to manage it using Tangem. However, your crypto will remain secure as it’s stored on the blockchain (not in the wallet). - Alex
