It's a "Blink and miss it" kind of 2d fighting game. Something that most modern types have not. So I hope their community will persevere cause this game is by far one of the unique ones out there.
Jon Talbain and Rikuo were always my favorites. Rikuo is Argagargs big brother lol. I'm really surprised Talbain hasn't made it into Marvel vs Capcom.. they really need to give us another Darkstalkers game.. I'm so glad I grew up in the '90s man. I played all the great games on arcade. I even played Street Fighter 1 on arcade which most people never even saw. First Virtua Fighter, Primal Rage, Killer Instinct, Super Street Fighter, all the Mortal Kombat cabs.. it was such a special time and people have no idea what they missed. I really miss those times.
took so much of my monnie as a kid playing this. so worth it. every place u go, like the video store or corner store,would have arcade boxes and if u heard the darkstalkers sound run over and throw some change at it.
*After Tenrai Ha, when enemy is laying on the floor (especially in the corner) you can jump on them and slice them while they are still knocked down (in the corner) and immediately throw a upwards (vertical) projectile and attack with the hard punch + ⬇️ so the rotating blades will knock the enemy down once is standing up because it WILL NOT keep the guard for both attacks (vertical projectile + floor attack) and also use the gong much more often to confuse the enemy and at some time will deflect their attacks in the process too*
Anakaris, Hsien-Ko, Jedah...so many cool and fun characters in this game. Capcom could bring this series back if they really wanted to. Just throw in Dante and Vergil and call it a DMC spinoff fighting game as an excuse.
They really need to bring back Darkstalkers to take the place of mvc so we have a faster crazier fighter and sf can still be sf. Hell just bring it back and make it a tag game.
Wow, I hear of this shortly after revisiting some nostalgic arcade games including Darkstalkers 1. If the series wasn’t hard as shit and impossible to get good at within a month, I’d consider signing up for tourney.

Kirby Bantayan so Dyne plays in pretty much every darkstalkers (aka vampire savior) tournament I’ve seen, at least the ones in the us. He’s pretty much always in top 8 and practically the best Jedah player
This game is cool, but god damn is it apparent that this game came out in the 90s. Some of the characters are MAD broken but also incredibly hard to play. (Excluding Sasquatch, who is broken AND easy.)

Vampire Chronicles is still the best version and it’s stuck on the PSP and Dreamcast Capcom what the actual fuck and holy hell yes these games hold up really well
WAIT WOT!?! People are playing this online? I remember when this was out on the x360 it was popular for nearly 2 weeks after it's release then i'd end up waiting 30 minutes to 3 hours or just never get anyone online.
I don't even think Shenron has the power to do that maybe Porunga.. seriously though it's criminal how little Capcom has been doing with their fighting games..
You can actually do it with any button, you can vary the timing to hit someone rolling or if they don't get of the ground, and you can also do ex version. It's one of my favorite mechanics
