VMware converter was / is a software that I often used for work. now that vmware has deprecated it, are there any predictions if and when it will release an alternative to this much-loved program? alternatives to carry out the same operations?

Can i do it for a remote linux machine without using VMware infrastructure server ? Because when I chose linux I am not able to change the destination type. Or is there another software that could do it ?

Hi Zakaria K Yes, we can convert. Usually, when we use VMware Converter, the default destination will be VMware Infrastructure only instead of third-party destinations. If we are planning for different destinations, we should prefer to choose third-party tools for example Star wind V2v Converter/P2V Migrator, and Microsoft VM Converter. Alternatively, there are some licensed converter tools as well for instance Plate spin Migrate. So, we can choose depending on our requirements. Thank you

@@JustRelax-br1ku Here's a general outline of how to enable the required ports on different operating systems: Windows Operating Systems: Open the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. Create inbound and outbound rules to allow TCP traffic on ports 443 and 902. Specify that the rules apply to "All profiles" (Domain, Private, and Public). Save and activate the rules. Linux Operating Systems: Use the appropriate firewall management tool based on the Linux distribution (e.g., iptables, firewalld). Create rules to allow TCP traffic on ports 443 and 902. Save and apply the firewall rules. MacOS: Open System Preferences and go to Security & Privacy. Click on the Firewall tab and then click on the Firewall Options button. Add rules to allow incoming connections on ports 443 and 902. Save and enable the firewall. For each operating system, it's essential to check the specific steps and commands required to create firewall rules, as they might differ slightly based on the OS version and configuration.
