Hi, Nice to finaly watch a video with good audio of a 2box. Most video’s have bad audio Quality and that is a shame... I think 2box is the best edrum on the market, unfortunaly 2box is not so strong in the marketing and sales part... Im playing drums for over 30 years acoustic (very old Pearl) and edrum (use to have a td20) but never bin so inpired while playing sinds I bought my 2box!!! Even comparing to acoustic iT is like acoustic and electric gitaars... electric gitaar is very diferend but also very inspiering!
Thanks very much. Appreciate the comment. I record the kit and the drumless audio track onto a boss digital recorder then sync the 2 to the footage on my mac. Definitely the best sounding kit on the market. Was lucky enough to find 2 and put them together. Endless fun!
the sounds in this kit and free downloads are quality, I used to play Roland kits Stopped at a TD12 when i realised all the sounds where the same just tweaked different on the newer modules ,TD50 included, i play with the stock pads and triggers on a an acoustic kit with mesh heads, now with the Drumit3 people with other bad sounding kits can upgrade just the module and experience the excellence of these sounds, As a note though i would say that these modules are for the more experienced e-drum players.
Agreed. Best sounds but more difficult to understand than they need to be. Super simple once u take the time but ya gotta earn it. Worth it. To be fair, they are not THAT hard to learn. Just not as simple as they could be. Still best modules around imo
Great video. I had a DrumIt5 but sold the kit as I hated the hardware and the hi-hat. Now I play a TD30 Drum-Tec. However, based on what I have seen here I'm going to get a DrumIt3 module for the tom sounds and run both modules. Thanks for putting in the time to make a great sounding video. :-)
Thanks Charlie! My pleasure. I had issues with the hats too. Got a roland/zourman hat set now. More reliable and realistic. The DI5 is a strong module. Nothing sounds as good (stock) for the price IMO. Got another vid u might like, says something like 'playing with the toms' in the title. Seeya Charlie!
I'm curious how much did you sell it for? I have one I'm trying to sell on facebook marketplace for 600 USD. They're in great shape but very old, bought them back in 2012.
Every so often, I come back to this video. And I just love it. I love what you have done with the multiple kit pieces to make a monster, and your smooth fluid playing. Always a pleasure.
Gday Stephen, its really inspiring when good people like u take time from their life to say something kind to someone like this. I make this stuff for people like u my friend. I take my hat off to u and thank u for your time and support. Always here if I can help you out. Stay SUPER cool!!!
@@danandlea1 Thank you for the reply! I used to have couple of 2box modules a few years ago, but had to sell thanks to a big Tax bill and massive van repair. And while I have set-up that I am super happy with, I do miss the 2box set up I had, the freedom of loading any multi samples you'd wish is an amazing feature.
@@steevidrums True, its a luxury being able to control your sounds in the way 2Box have always offered. Way before other mega companies like Roland did. Im sure your setup is awesome regardless of what it is specifically. If it keeps you playing, then you're winning. Tax sucks....
I have the 2Box drumit 5 mk1 module with a 64 GB card connversion. My diy snare plays like it has positional sensing. On the snare I'am using 2 different edge triggers mounted @ 11 o'clock & 1 o'clock into the 2Box and a 3rd smaller 27mm center mounted trigger (Quartz percussion lowest sensitivity) plugged into my TD11 that adds dry Roland sounds. I'am right handed so the 35mm tigger @ 11 o'clock is the most sensitive (Quartz percussion). There is an Extreme trigger @ 1 o'clock it is medium sensitive with a higher threshold setting has the same snare file but tunned +0.1 and a decay of 1.5 -2.5 that is plugged into Tom 1. Hitting the mesh snare head at different sides and at different dynamics triggers 3 different layers of sound, diy positonal sensing. I have a Roland BT1 mounted top right for the rim click samples (Tom 1 rim). I have 2 toms on a splitter cable from the Tom 2 output. With a guitar ABY pedal I plug the kick into both the TD11 & 2Box modules. Only the snare & kick are connected to the TD11. Different TD11 kits will change the tuning, tone, snare buzz, ring and kick fattness of the combined drum sound. The 2Box open sound does benefit from the fat tight attack Roland snare & kick sound. The 2Box headphone output is plugged into the TD11 aux input, so I can still use the metronome and coach function. The 2Box sounds are superior and you can make & play your own multilayered samples. I hope this help 2Box users get positonal sensing.
Thanks man. The orange stands out! This kit is now black as u may notice in newer vids. Smaller too lol. For its time, and the price, it had the best sounds around. More real than anything I'd heard in other major brands. Still hold their ground amongst other newer kits that cost way more. Thanks for the kind words man. Stay cool!
@@tuievans Um, not sure what the RRP is, or was, because they are not making this same kit anymore I dont think. This is 2 second hand kits put together. If you are lucky u can pick one up for $1500AU. More most of time.
@@Jaap-Relou kick pad is just a pad with a trigger. Plug it into any input and it will work fine then just select the sound that you wish to use with it. There are two modules in this set up and I used all the inputs as well as split all of the toms so I could add an extra cymbal for every tom that there was. Thanks!
Very nice playing! I am a Jazz saxophonist and pianist, looking to get my first edrum kit. Are any of the internal sounds good for Jazz? Or wold I have to find them and load them somehow? I don't have an acoustic drum kit. Thank you.
Thanks! There are a few jazz sounds on the stock module. Not many but they are present. If u can get me an email address I'd be happy discuss the potential of additional traditional and modern jazz sample sets if needed. Thanks. Stay cool!
My pleasure. Thanks for watching. I can try! I do love tool. Danny approaches his parts in a very different way to most. Longer and more complex arrangements, big build ups, super considered drum parts, explosive crescendos etc. Which songs u think would be cool to do?
@@danandlea1 That's hard to say, Danny's work is all so satisfying to me. I'd love to see Lateralus or Ticks & Leeches, but one I haven't seen a cover for is Triad, which might not be quite as complex as the other two. I found a second-hand kit of the drumit five with an extra tom, but I've yet to buy. What do you think would be a fair price range for it, would it be insulting to haggle down from 1k€? :D Hard to find any data on prices since they don't seem to be sold anywhere anymore, but seeing your video has made me rather confident that I want the orange beast.
@@Xenrel Ok. I’ll have a listen. 1000 euros is a reasonable price with an extra Tom. The module alone often goes for 500 euros. But the economy isn’t great so maybe u could make an offer. It’s still a beast to this day. Worth every cent. Stay cool!
@@danandlea1 Thanks for the input! The reason why I mentioned Tool btw is because parts of your demo reminded me of the drumming in the background of 'Faaip De Oiad' (One of their strange filler songs)
I have it all routed out the 8 outputs of the module into an 8 in thunderbolt audio interface. I never amplify the kit as such I.e. play it through speakers, apart from my monitors of course. All my new vids are done through the Mac and a pair of monitors. I'm sure u could amplify them easily through any good PA system though, or a strong combo amp.
Exceptional, Dan. I just rec'd my 2 DI5, like 20 mins ago. Along with a full original orange kit! I want to swap out the rubber heads for mesh. What brand/model are yours, and where can I get them? Thanks again for sharing these demos of these incredible sounding acoustic kits!!
Gday Ron, thanks very much bud! The heads in this vid are from 682Drums. They are a mix of black single and double ply mesh. Nice heads. Now I'm playing the white 3 ply mesh. Feels more realistic to me, less bounce. Google 682Drums and u will easily find them. Best of luck with it man! Stay cool
Ive uploaded a video for u focusing on the toms. Remember though, that u can add any sounds u want to this module which means u can create any kit from any era for any style!
Block Lobster Thank you 😊 and another thing to ask, do you cover the ways you can alter the sounds like raise or lower the pitch? Or add reverb to the kit?
I enjoyd your video. 1) What is the settings of your snare, toms, hihat and cymbals? 2) Great sounds! What sounds are yo using in the whole video? 3) How do you record it? I would like put a video of myself on youtube. 4) I have a Drum-tec pro Snare 14 ". Can you, or someone else, give me advice what the settngs my be? Thanks a lot.
Thanks Marc! I have changed the kit a few times since I did this vid. I am now using all different sounds, not just 2box sounds. Back when I did this all the sounds were 2box sounds, either on the stock module or from the 2box website for free. I can't recall the settings but now my snare GAIN is 0, THRESH -48, CURVE Norm, XTALK off. The hats I use have changed so can't recall those settings either. The toms and cymbals had different settings for every pad and I can't remember. Some of my other vids may answer ur questions regarding settings etc. I recorded that on a digital recorder. Like a tascam 4 track. Straight in. I used iMovie to sync audio and vid. I can't help regarding ur new snare pad. Try the unofficial 2box forum in a week or two as it's currently offline but they will help there for sure. At least 1 or 2 of my other vids explain the various settings to try also. Thanks man. Good luck
Michael Heron - they sound the same. Theres no amp being used. This is recorded straight out of the modules outputs into a digital recorder. Straight with no fx. They are the best sounding ekit ive had and ive had a few! Thanks
Most neighbour friendly kit I've ever played the mesh is near silent with the cymbals also being dead quiet compared to alesis or Roland's especially yamahas
Ok ! That's big. I got now 4 cymbals, hi-hat, and 6 pads. Only issue with 2box is my 12'' snare... double triggering and sounds terrible. I am now changing it for 14'' acoustic snare with trigger. I will see if this will improve it. Great demo btw.
Thanks for ir comment and kind words. Ur kit sounds rad! Ive had double triggering issues with kick and snare and both were fixed using module settings. Took a bit of playing around but worked. Try UNIT/MASK. Bring that up to the highest value u can without it messing with your fast dbl stroke roll. It will affect a buzz roll but not fast doubles. Then goto UNIT/TRIG and raise THRESHOLD value until it begins to stop letting ur soft hits through. Lower the value just enough to let those soft hits thru but no more than u have to. If u still have trouble ask at the unofficial 2Box forum. An expert will help u within 24 hrs.
Thank you very much for the tips. I have ordered heads and I am waiting for delivery. I am expecting this going to make a difference. Also ordered 2box trigger for acoustic snare. Will see how it works. Once again huge thanks for your advice.
Hi again, coming back with a bit of feedback about the few things I have recently done to my set. Thank you for your kind and useful tips btw. First- mesh heads. I am trying Remo Silentstroke 10'' and 14'' and Z-ED triple x 14'' on my new acoustic snare with 2box trigIt and my advice is to avoid Z-EDs (I had to force is to fit on the rim, the quality is visibly worse then Remo, but also I got a more serious problem with occasional double triggering effect when there is a harder stroke -I am guessing it's about the inner mesh layer bouncing back and hitting the top layer...and I have to say I got it tide!!! So, whoever read this I recommend Remo...with the same settings makes a MAGIC! Great response and immediate improvement in sound quality. Now I change it to my 14 kick pad and what a huge difference does it make!!!. Perfect triggering instead of what I had before. Second thing is the acoustic snare I use now... People if you can get a second hand cheap one, than go for it, as this is just a completely different experience. With Remo head and Trigit it feels and sound a hell better than 12 inch pad... I understand now why 2box stopped making the sets. The trend is to convert acoustic rather than buy pads. Many thanks again and I hope this will help someone to make decision when you buy your kit. Soon I will upload music using the set on my channel. Cheers
Hey Blocky, as somebody who's clearly spent lots of time playing with the Drumit 5, maybe you could give me some advice... I looked at a set last night that I might be able to pick up cheap, because while all the pads *seem* to be working OK, the head module seems badly scrambled. All the kits are screwed up, the cymbals on every kit seem to think they're constantly being choked, they don't ring at all, running the PREF -> INIT -> UNIT command said "no change..." I wonder if a software update and totally overwriting the card content might end up giving me a working drumset, or if I should call it ten foot pole material and move on. Also, the hi-hats suck, the magnet thing sticks like crazy. I've seen your solution with the Roland gear but I didn't expect the 2box thing to be *that* bad... Any thoughts? I'm considering offering the guy like AU$600 or so.
Gday bud. Its so hard to say because its either a data issue or hardware issue. If its data, easy fix. If its hardware, need to understand what part in order to assess viability. Me, id take the risk but get it as cheap as u can because it might be buggered. U could part it out and get most of ur money back. If it works its a bargain. Id do the 32gb sd upgrade and have a look at inside while ur there. Then buy new sd card, install new software and test. The choked cymbals is likely settings IMO. Ive seen that b4. The 2box hats can be ok if perfectly set but still not perfect, no matter what u do. This is why everyone gets the roland hi hat setup. Id buy it but its ur call. Good luck!
@@danandlea1 I ended up buying it. I've still got issues with the general shitness of the hi-hats, and every time I turn it back on, I need to cycle the cymbal triggers through all the pad types and back to what I saved them on before they'll stop choking... And I've gotta replace a broken rim and some rubber rings. But I've done the SD card update, I'm looking into a VH11 and the sound and feeling of playing this kit are just making me so damn happy. It's awesome to have a drum kit I can play any time of day. Thanks for the inspiration, and if you're looking for more challenges I'd love to see you pull off Mud Sauce. :D
@@lozzobear cool!! Yea. Um. Sounds like changes arent being saved properly. Be sure to push KIT after changing settings and then push SAVE twice. Not once. Try that. Should fix cymbals. Congrats on the 32gb upgrade. Big leap and u did it right away! Get o rings from ebay. I got 5 dif sizes as they are cheap. Tried them all to find what worked. Cant remember exact size now. I measured an orig one too. Play around with hats over time id say.
Nice, thank you. But could you explain something please? I didn't think the module would support this number of inputs; I thought the maximum was something like 4 toms and 3 cymbals? Do you achieve it by sacrificing rim triggering? Having never owned an electronic kit and having never seen one of these in the flesh I'm a bit lost. My usual accoustic setup includes of 3 toms and 5 cymbals. Considering the 2Box in the future, and what options I might have with it.
Nice setup, Do you have issues with the kick flexing too much? I find the 2box cymbals are a bit wimpy...I've already bent the crap out of mine and am looking for something more durable
spotmcrackin - Thanks man. Its a fun setup. Every now and then i notice the kick wobbling a bit more than usual. It usually means the mount needs a retighten. Once i do that its fine again. Ive never had a prob with the cymbals. Do u play hard?
Vatiliai Duguca - i think the RRP of a 6 piece with hats and 2 cymbals is around $3500 AUD. This is 2 of those kits put together. There are also extra toms, cymbals and hardware added to this on top of that. They are obviously cheaper secondhand. I dont think they are made anymore. Just the modules to use with 3rd party pads like roland or other. They appear on ebay every now and then. Thanks!
@@danandlea1 could you please share with me what kind of hi hat stand should I use. I just got the original drumit five(rubber pads) kit and I’m gonna need stands. Snare stand I guess I can find some 12”. But I don’t know anything about hi hat stand.
@@gearer11 Thanks man. Most snare stands will hold a 12 inch pad. Im using a standard hi hat stand with roland hats and zourman box. Any hat stand works, just put the magnet on stand under the pad. Might need to remove a felt on stand depending. Good luck!
Nice performance, nice sounding drum module! Could you please tell me the name of the drum kit from 12:04 until 14:25 ? This kit is part of the factory presets (Kits) or is downloaded from 2Box website? Many thanks in advance!
D LCRo - thank you. Very kind. The kit u are talking about is made up of the following samples. The snare is 'KA Snare_14_amb' and is tuned up +4. The toms are 'X_Shell_08, 10, 12, 14, 16_emp' and the kick is 'Big_Kick'. These are all standard sounds that come on the module. Stay cool!
Its kit #3 ‘Minneman Kit’. The tom samples are 10,12,14,16 Maple. It is a nice preset. Very open and natural. Marco’s gong drum sample is also included in that preset but i didnt have it assigned to a pad. Whopper....
Jati Husada - Not consciously no. I wish lol. There are possibly poorly executed similarities in some moments though. Thanks for the question/compliment.
Drum geil....du 😴 ....Standarts hast du ja nun alles runter...aber....schraubt mal das KreativPad an...Ansonsten gut....wie alle Soli's eben... ...also , ehrlich , ich kann nicht mal die Hälfte...
