As commented elsewhere, "Elvenjig & Elvenpath" you see Floor in her elven warrior outfit. Also, Marko playing double neck bass and guitar. AndTroy playing the uilleann pipes (a form of bagpipe). A must see for sure. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OmiUGNkeJkA.html
It's funny you mentioned Floor looking like an 'Elvenchick' ! They have a song called 'Elvenjig/Elvenpath' which you should definitely check out - live from Buenos Aires. Take care 🙂
Yes. I would absolutely love "Elvenjig-Elvenpath" live at Bogota, and so hoping these musicians will react to it very soon. The instrumental work showcases all their abilities and talent. It's a great double feature tune that is a must. I up-vote this request please 2nd Hand Souls, would you with sugar on-top? 💮🌻💮🍁🍃🍂
Now you at Tempere. Now time for the Greatest Show on Earth live at Tempere. 4.6 billion years of history. In a 20 minute song. Make sure to go till the end credits.
Much love to Marko! ❤️ You are officially a badass when Floor Jansen sings backup for you. Supposedly, “The Beast” as Marko calls his double neck instrument, is quite heavy. Marko composed the music for this one. Tuomas wrote the lyrics. He will be missed, especially his vocals.
This video misses the beginning where Marko tells the crowd that the rest of the "weasels" have left him to entertain the over 20,000 on his own. This one of the few composed by Marko.
You'll get even more of a Celtic vibe when Troy starts playing those Uilleann pipes. Listen for example to 'I Want My Tears Back' (Buenos Aires 2018, very upbeat song with great crowd participation ) or 'My Walden' (Tampere 2015, in which Marko plays both the guitar and bass on his double neck).
Ik blijf het verbazingwekkend vinden hoeveel mensen jij al zover hebt gekregen om naar Nightwish te kijken en luisteren, en dat ze dat ook blijven doen vind ik dan weer niet zo raar.
I love how you guys react to this and other Nightwish songs. Fantastic performance by you. Marko is killer but how about his choice of backup singer... Floor. Not bad dude. If you want to really watch Marko play the double neck Framus guitar on the bottom neck and the Warwick bass on the top neck check out Dead Boy's Poem live at Buenos Aires 2018 and My Walden live at Wembley 2015. He is an amazing guitarist as well as bass player. And, of course, there is our Valkyrie Goddess, Floor. Not to mention Tuomas, Empuu, Kai, and Marko. What an amazing band. Thanks guys for continuing your Nighwish reactions. Absolutely loving them.
Nightwish plays an awesome version of "The greatest show on earth " at this same concert in Tampere... When you all listen to the greatest show on earth you will see the best production in the history of symphonic metal.... I don't know where you all are located but I'm just a southerner just like you all... I was lucky enough to start listening to nightwish a couple years ago... It will start to dawn on you all that Floor Janson is the best female vocalist in the world, their may not be a close second and I'm not trying to take anything away from any other vocalists out there but Floors toolbox of vocal skills is a bigger toolbox than anybody else has... Floor can blow you away with any gondra of music... You all don't know that yet but you will just keep listening.....
The Greatest Show On Earth" at Tampere, yes, great idea to mention it early, they are both great but Tampere is just the very, very best, just an amazing performance.
When you do “the greatest show on earth” You need play it to the end as it contains a short and important message from Richard Dawkins. Many reactors stop once the music stops and they lose the end sequence.
@@susanjw7763 Thanks Susan, forgot to mention that, this amazing song is only finished when the video goes on black. Thanks again because it is important for this epic performance, bye from the netherlands
The spoken part roughly translates to "If I play the chorus, you're gonna sing along, right?" - "Yeah!" - "Are you sure?" - "Yeah!" - "Ok, let's do it" 'The Beast' is his custom Warwick bass with Framus guitar (both brand names are owned by the same company), and it is heavy. Troy is playing an Irish Low Whistle. The song is about a lonely lighthouse keeper. Marko had the music left over from 'Tarot' , the band he was lead singer in before Nightwish. Tuomas heard him playing it one day, and decided it would be a great song. Together they finished the music, and Tuomas wrote the lyrics. Another song from this show to try is 'Weak Fantasy', Animal will like the drums in that one.
NW has lots of songs that have vocals done by Choir in while band songs and plays in meantime. For instance Ghost love score has words in there from backing vocals, "*f you cut my i will bleed forever, etc. Can't remember those words exactly.
@@janihaavisto79 First it is this backing: "My fall will be for you. My love will be in you. If you be the one to cut me, I will bleed forever" Last time the lyrics changes to "My fall will be for you. My love will be in you. You were the one to cut me, So I’ll bleed forever"
If you want to be blown away, check out Nightwish - How's The Heart Acoustic. It's just Troy (The guy playing the tin whistle in this song) and Floor, and it will blow your mind! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yYtkPpFYzOo.html
If u dig the Celtic feel, My Walden from Wembley and I Want My Tears Back from Buenos Aires are great picks...the low whistle player Troy sings a bit in My Walden and plays Uileen pipes in both, which has an awesome sound...Troy plays everything, from guitar to all wind instruments...plays bouzouki on Marco led Kiss While Your Lips are still Red at Wembley also
Guy with the flute (Troy) is their 6th member and plays about 12 instruments, which you'll see in different videos. That gives Nightwish unbounded potential to play with anything their creativity demands.
In this piece Troy is playing the low whistle - tuned around E. It's stainless steel as opposed to a woodwind per se. He also plays it's smaller higher pitched cousin the tin whistle. You'll see and hear that played in the official video of "Elan".
Eeee Chrissy, your face just lit up like mine does every time I watch this video : ) So pleased you enjoyed this. If you want some more of Marco in the spotlight, I highly recommend their cover of Floyd's 'High Hopes'. And for something else more on the side of things that will heal your soul, check out the acoustic of 'How's the heart' (Planet Rock). Much love!
Floor's outfit represents the DNA double Helix, which is a theme within the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album. When you're ready, the final song of this concert is a 24-minute epic, The Greatest Show of Earth. Since you have broken into symphonic metal with Nightwish, you'll need to watch Epica, a Dutch symphonic metal band on par with Nightwish. Floor used to be in a band with their founder (Mark Jansen) and guest performed with them during their 10th-anniversary show. Check out the song The Skeleton Key from the Omega Alive tour. You'll definitely enjoy it.
Fun Facts: Marko is a trained guitarist, but is on the first record of his first band Tarot bass player and main singer. Floor takes the first engagement as background singer at the Death Metal band After Forever. When they published their first record, the Death has become a Symphonic Metal band and Floor is their main singer. So both are here in their originally intended role, which they never fulfilled.
Sure glad all those "weasels" came back to play with Marko 🤣🤣 Great one guys 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 Awesome when your backup vocals are Floor Jansen 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Marko wrote this one. I think he originally wrote it for his own band Tarot, but it didn't really fit their style. You will need to check out Floor's husbands band. Hannes is the drummer for Sabaton. They rock. Great historians as well.🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 When you eventually get to The Greatest Show On Earth, I recommend you do the one from this concert at Tampere. I think it is better than the Wembley version. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
On some point you will react to "Greatest Show On Earth", then choose live from Tampere. It is final epic song (20 minutes) from that gig and if you check clip to the end, then you can see all names and companies who were joined to that show. Tip: Nightwish will surprise you now and then with something what you are not waiting...."Slow,Love,Slow" is that kind of song and also example "How Is The Heart" (Acustic, live Radio Rock).
"The beast" is three instruments in one. It's a Warwick bass, and a acoustic guitar (There's a piezo mic in the bridge) and an electric guitar with two humbuckers.
I think it's fantastic to see just in this Nigthwisch song, the amazement and bewilderment on juliie faces, Troy plays on the Irish inspired flute, he also plays uiliumily flutes, different kinds of (Celtic inspired) kind of bagpipes but then Celtic older versions, has several kinds after that he plays several instruments, as you have seen the elextric mandolin, but also all kinds of different guitars, but that's coming you all still against your journal, and indeed, the last one is always the best and your new favorite song, that's why you continue to be amazed every time about this band, they have so many moments, just the amazement on your faces is priceless, great to see. ACTUALLY AS YOU SAY IT YOURSELF. NIGTHWICH AND FLOOR JANSSEN AND MARCO DIGGER ITE. Or should I say dingger, digger digger it was. greetings from the Netherlands gr.Jan de Zwaan, always great to see you again and keep one Nigthwisch, Keep smoking🤘🤘❤️❤️🤘🤘👍
Hi . Nightwish fan here . Did see your reactions for the first time today. First song GLS. And do love all of your reactions to every video you did. I will not put any songs here for you to listen to. I see what will come next. 🇳🇱 🤘
We told you every song is different anf they will surprise you lol. Troy is playing an Irish Low Whistle. Marko wrote the tune and thought it did not suit his other band so asked Tuomas about it and Tuomas wrote the lyrics & tweaked it for Nightwish. :) Marko is a Metal God - wish him so much happiness following his path. Miss him though. :(
Marko wrote the music for this song, it was not a good fit for his band Tarot, Tuomas thought it could be a song for Nightwish and wrote the lyrics. Troy is playing the low whistle. The double neck is heavy, you can see it resting on Marko's thigh for support, especially when he is playing the guitar part. If he has time to switch to a regular bass in the middle of the song, the guitar tech hands it to him. He does that on "Elvenjig & Elvenpath" Buenos Aires 2018. He starts the song with the guitar part. Troy plays The Uillean Pipes, and the whistles. The song is the opening track of the Nightwish debut album 1997. The record company released the demo as it was! So it doesn't sound as refined as Nightwish usually. And they were young, they have come a long way as musicians since then. Emppu played both guitar and bass! You can hear The Uillian Pipes on "I Want My Tears Back" Buenos Aires 2019, actually 2018, but the title of the video says 2019. A fun and uplifting song, the Argentinian crowd is amazing. If you like a heavy song for a change SONG of MYSELF Wacken 2013 is great. The Wembley Arena 2015 SHUDDER BEFORE THE BEAUTIFUL is a great opener, strong ang melodic, duell between Tuomas and Emppu. PLANET HELL if you like to hear a keyboard solo by Tuomas. 2005 End of an Era DVD version with the original female vocalist Tarja and Marko, or the Hell Fest 2022 version. Floor now has to do all the vocals.
That doubleneck is called 'The Beast' and it weighs approximately 8,5 kilo! You should consider doing: 'Sleeping Sun' also from Tampere 2015, while that's the most spectacular version. And 'Kiss while your lips are still red' - from Wembley 2015. Marko lead, Floor backing and Troy on E-bow!! 'The Carpenter' - Buenos Aires 2018 - Troy lead!! - and Floor backing!! 'Dead Boy's Poem' - Buenos Aires 2018 - Floor's going to kill you All 4 of these are mind blowing ballads.
Marco.....who else has a backing singer like Floor Jansen?! The "flute" Troy is playing is called a Low Whistle. Troy is English and actually lives near my home city (York). I used to see him performing there 30-odd years ago and spoke with him and his then band (U-Slosh) on occasion. I was very surprised when he suddenly joined my favourite band, Nightwish (along with Floor) back around 2012.
I can name a few singers like Russell Allen, Damian Wilson and Robert Soeterbroek. In fact they had both the Jansen sisters as a background singer at their disposal.
Nuclear blast is their record label. They are one of the top metal labels in the world. Along with Napalm records the two have most of the notable European metal bands.
🇫🇮👍Although Marco mainly played the bass with Nightwish, he actually started playing the guitar at age 11. He's also the composer of this song & founded his own heavy metal band "Tarot" (At first known as "Purgatory") with his brother Zachary (lead guitarist) & some other musicians in 1982. This is Marco live with Tarot & their 1st hit song in Finland originally released in 1986: Tarot - Wings Of Darkness (Live Tuska 2003) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xAR04Qf1Rqk.html Unfortunately Tarot has been in hiatus since 2015 & in 2016 their original drummer died. However, Marco released a solo album "Pyre Of The Black Heart" in 2020 & this is one of the album's songs performed live: MARKO HIETALA - Death March For Freedom (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wn18pYB58-U.html
This is an example of how this band will totally surprise you in the best ways! Tuomas wrote the lyrics, Marko wrote the music. He is a classically trained guitarist so this is no problem for him! Representing Nightwish Army, Palm Springs, CA! We are not a fan club...we are millions globally sharing the love and passion of the music and lyrics...and spreading out to educate and accompany new listeners on their journeys.
Love all your reactions thus far. I hope you eventually react to "I want my tears back" from Decades tour in Buenos Aires 2019. Troy (the flutist in The Islander) plays uillean pipes in that song, which is a rare instrument to appear in metal music. And they even play a synchronized solo with the guitar.
Just an addition, the band is from Finland, Troy from UK, Precisely from Wales, Floor Janssen is from the Netherlands, Thomass the keyboardist, Finland Emppuu the electric guitar player, Finland, Marco the bass player and the double neck guitar player, Finland, JUKKA the drummer, Finland. the last 7 or 8 years Jukka has been suffering from headaches and insomnia (several health problems) and Kay, Finland plays the drums, that means Jukka is always a member of this band active behind the scenes, and Marco has temporarily stopped Nigthwisch in 2020 also due to health problems (depression in the carona time) and Jukka is the new bass guitarist.🤘🤘❤️❤️🤘🤘👍
Just so you know. Troy was born in Cumberland which is an English county, not Wales. Although he has sung in Welsh and obviously has a surname which is probably of Irish origin.
@@DIRK-PITT not a criticism. Just thought that if you're kind enough to give information on band that it's correct. Troy has been active for many years in various bands and as a record producer plus he plays so many instruments. What a brilliant addition to an amazing band. First appeared on Dark Passion Play.
Thank you the historic update. Interesting facts. We sincerely hope Marko can pull out of it. As for Jukka, we hope he's able to find some kind of treatment for his conditions. Headaches and no sleep at the same time can be very debilitating.
Marco's double neck is a Warwick bass and a Framus Guitar combo Warwick purchased Framus guitar company a while back , Troy is playing a Low Whistle , he also plays a Tin Whistle in other songs there smaller with a higher sound. Marco wrote this song with help from Tuomas
🤩👌💥💯 An example of their versitile on compositions. Starting to get eager for their next album. Full album demo is done. The rehearsals for the actual album recording starts 1st of July 2023. Cool reaction as always. 🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
Nightwish covers every genre. The Beast: 70 pounds of Framus guitar and Warwick bass. Marko was the composer, Tuomas wrote the lyrics. BTW, Floor's outfit was inspired by the Finnish flag. Keep rocking🤘🤘🤘
I believe that is a tin whistle. Floor is fluent in Dutch, English, Swedish and somewhat fluent in Finish. Finish is apparently extremely difficult to master. She's also sang in Spanish, German, Latin, and Italian although she is not fluent in those languaes.. Her husband is Sabaton's drummer Hannes van Dahl so she learned Swedish so she could talk easily with him. He does speak a little English.
You folks are coming along well with your progression into the Nightwish family. But as amazing as it seems so far, you are still just approaching the edge of what is still to be seen from this incredible collaboration of talent. All I can offer at this point is stay with it! And the one and only thing I will promise you is this: no regrets! It get's many times better than what you have seen so far. God bless and welcome to the world wide family! Although they are not considered mainstream, they have been at it for over 30 years.
"The Greatest Show on Earth" from that same Tampere show in Finland (near north Sweden on the Baltic sea), is a spectacular one to watch if you haven't seen it. As for Floor looking like an "Elven Chick" the do a song(s) called "Elven Jig/Elven Path".
The look on your faces everytime...love it! One tip if I may....always watch the video's through to the very end! Especially if you're going to react to "The Greatest Show On Earth", same TAM-peh-reh concert. It's about the evolution theory of Charles Darwin and the book, same title, by Richard Dawkins.
There is some Celtic folk influence in some of Nightwish' music. Marko calls this guitar "The Beast". Troy plays many old traditional instruments. This one is called a low whistle. This is a song composed by Tuomas and Marko together. You have to slow down somewhere in the set. This way when you kick it back in it has some impact. Marko does play this guitar (both guitar & bass) in the same song during this show. A much heavier song called, "Weak Fantasy"! Big fun watching these reactions my friends. Peace.
if you want to hear more of Marko hietala, he plays/sings e.g. in the bands Tarot and Northern kings. not forgetting his solo production pyre of the black heart. it is necessary to mention the Christmas records that come out every year, Raskasta joulua (Heavy Christmas). my favorite is where Marko sings "varpunen jouluaamuna" (a sparrow on a Christmas morning). (old Finnish Christmas carol) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yKyg4m1qIOQ.html (sung in Finnish but subtitled in English)
Great journey you are on. Now you have listened to some of their very good songs… but there are a lot more… and in my opinion the best ones are still in front of you… 👍🏆‼️
Sydney base camp of the Australian chapter reporting in….I had the opportunity to see this live and it gave me the ultimate markogasm. You need to check out “while your lips are still red” from the Wembley show
Hi from the UK 👋 from something you might like to check out floor jansens friends ( Simone simons) band called epica it's another symphonic metal band but from Holland 🇳🇱 Epica consign to oblivion live at the zenith Paris Epica unleashed live retrospect show ( full orchestra on stage with the band) Epica sancta terra with floor jansen live retrospect show (( floor singing as a guest with Simone) You also might like to check out Ayreon band made up of different singers and musicians from other bands and is fantastic live The go to song to start your Ayreon journey is Ayreon the day that the world breaks down the source 2017 ( like Nightwish ghost love score this is the start of the rabbit hole that is Ayreon)
Hee Chrissie, if you would like to see Marko playing both bass and guitar stems of his Warwick double neck (known as “The Beast”): Elvenjig/Elvenpath BA 2018. During that song he is then again switching to a single neck Warwick bass of which the name I have forgotten🐰 If you ever see him playing on a green single neck bass guitar, it will be the Warwick Vampire❤
More similar like this is "My Walden" in Wembley arena, Marko is playing double neck's both side and Troy is playing flute and Irish Uillean bag pipes.
Marko is the reason I play Warwick bass guitars. Marko's doubleneck is Warwick on the bass side and Framus on the guitar side. I've heard him say that that instrument was made for him. I've only played one double-neck instrument, and it was an Epiphone 12-string and 6-string SG. It was lighter and easier to play than I thought it would be. Regarding the song, Tuomas once said that the two of them were somewhere, I think it was backstage while an opening act was playing, and Marko was playing acoustic guitar. He started playing the prototype of this song, said it wasn't right for his other band, the lesser-known Tarot, and wondered if Nightwish could use it. Tuomas said they could, the two of them worked on it a bit, and they made a beautiful song. The studio version is a bit different than this arrangement, but it's the same vibe. I saw Nightwish in Columbus in 2012 a week before the band's second singer, Anette, left the band. When they played this, everyone in the venue was swaying, smiling, and singing along. A lot of people were putting their arms around the people next to them. It was such a great feeling. Lastly, since Crissy (or is it Christy?) likes to watch bass players, I've got a recommendation for y'all. The artist's name is Kiyoshi. SHe's a bass guitarist out of Japan. I'm recommending her solo stuff because, like Marko, she also plays Warwick. Also, like my last recommendation Junna, Marty Friedman has taken her out on tour as part of his live band. She just recently finished a tour playing bass B'z, one of the world's best-selling acts and the best-selling act in Japan. This is "Fossil" live from Jack Lion, Osaka. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KIEAWtX8WSo.html
I think this is a song you guys could cover....would be great. 🤘 It's a joy watching you guys, there is so many good songs from this concert too, Weak Fantasy or Greatest Show On Earth, it is not only that name of the song, but also a great experience.
