This is so beautiful. Marko is so good, that he has world's best singer as a backup singer. How about that?😅. More Marko: "While your lipps are still red" and "High hopes".
@@MikeandGinger here's another good one : Nightwish - Alone (Heart Cover) : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OI2sojuvnrY.html and Floor's 1st band : After Forever - Alone (Heart Cover) : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EpxOKueE-_0.html cheers :)
@@MikeandGinger Yes it is . Kiss, while your lips are still red ( Wembley Arena) is also beautiful. The Viking and the Goddess singing together.... hmmm
@@MikeandGinger Here is a very special one. This one is Marco and Floor singing "Ave Maria". Very very beautiful version when 2 titans like Marco and Floor perform such a classic song. Another Nightwish song with Marco more in front is "While your lips are still red" Live at Wembley Arena. This as well shows off the beautiful special voice of Marco.
There's a very beautiful version of Floor and Marco singing "Ave Maria" together at a Christmas concert in Finland. I think you would love it. Also, the Nightwish cover of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" features Marco and it's magnificent!
Just look at Markos smile when the rest of the band joins in. And it's pronounced Tam-pe-re. You'll see more of Markos double neck bass and guitar later on. And the part tat isn't subtitled he says something like "If i sing the chorus, will you sing it with me?" Marko wrote the music, but it didn't fit in with what he did with his own band Tarot. Tuomas heard him play it, liked it, and wrote the lyrics for it.
A Finnish speaker told me that Marko said ""If I play the chorus, you will sing along? You will? OK, then we'll do it!" but there are multiple ways of translating the Finnish.
@@johto Thank you, it's what I saved for the occasions reactors and people are wondering what was said. I also understand that Finnish is a fiendishly difficult language to learn.
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song, "While your lips are still red" and the Pink Floyd song they cover on the End of an Era Dvd - "High Hopes" is a real showcase - both great Marco moments :) Keep up the great work.
In your Ghost Love Score reaction, I remember Mike mentioning metal really wasn't his style of music. To watch him slowly but surely delve into these symphonic metal bands has been such a joy. Ginger's reaction to this song is shared by so many of us when we listen to this beautiful song. Thank you for the joy you bring. One of Nightwish's songs that tends to go a little unnoticed is "While your lips are still red". With the chaos in the world right now, it'd be a song worth taking a peek at when your schedule allows. Stay safe :)
It just isn't fair that every member of Nightwish can reach into your chest and touch your heart. It is so easy to fall in love with each member of the band, but I believe it's because they love each other so much ... as a family should. Check out the look on Floor's face as Marko is walking back, the pride in her "older Brother" radiates from her. Just as his does for her in their Ava Maria 2019 performance, where he puts his head on her shoulder. Marko, you are loved far beyond what you can know - we all wish you the peace and contentment you are seeking, but we'd still like to have you around to show you.
The islander is on of the few Nightwish songs that was written primarily by Marco with a little aid from Tuomas lyrically. It isn’t a old song as it was written shortly before Nightwish’s 2005 release Dark Passion Play. But the song is definitely reminiscent of a sea shanty and strongly draws on finish folk music for inspiration. Marco and Tuomas both have folk influences...
Marko and Tuomas wrote that song, so it’s not as old as it sounds. You should also watch Marko sing While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley...that one will cause tears, as well.
One thing I love about Nightwish is the diversity to their music. Lovely reaction and one of myself favorite Marko songs is the live cover of Pink Floyd's song high hopes.
No matter how they perform, it is always breathtaking and also sound like Nightwish. While your lips are still red (Wembley 2015 i think) or high hopes (pink floyd cover End of an aera concert) Marco lead vocals or Hows the heart acoustic version from Planet Rock with Floor, Troy and one acoustic guitar.
Besides being a FANTASTIC song, I've always loved the visual element of this particular performance. Marco standing at the end of the runway, alone but surrounded by a sea of adoring fans, just adds to the entire feeling of the vocals. And then, the rest of the band (the "weasels") show up to lend their support on the main stage, almost as if calling from the shore. It always hits me so hard.
Nightwish has such a range of styles. They can do heavy, symphonic, folky or even celtic. They basically have something for every mood you're in. And now you know why I not just love Nightwish but Marko in particular. What a great thing it is to have two singers who can do that to you. Convey so much emotion and do whatever they want with their voices. And on top of it we now have Troy as a third singer with a totally different sound. If you wanna check out his voice I recommend "Harvest". And for more Marko "Endlessness". That one got me teared up a number of times which doesn't happen to me often, but it's kind of Marko's specialty when I think about it now. Something in his tone. Both songs are from the latest album and so different but so beautiful.
That's right! Warwick Infinity 4-string at the top and Framus Pantera at the bottom...just because he is Markko. He could front any band. Him and Troy always get overlooked due to Floor's charisma and personality in live performances and Tuoma's bigger than life composition. Markko's real strength is in his ability to check his ego aside and serve the music and the song. The same goes for all of them but Markko (and Troy and Empu for that matter) deserve a special mention in this respect.
Great reaction. Marco just adds a different element to Nightwish. seeing as Tuomas writes mots of Nightwish songs . Marco had input in this song writing process. That's why it's his time to shine. You can react to this or watch in your own time. For Floor this was an emotional show , Her parents were guests. And gives you gues insight into Floor Jansen , her beginnings... Floor Jansen - (English&Finnish Subtitles) Interview and Reportage From Tampere [De Reunie](NPO 1 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B3NIfu0qvtg.html
🤘❤🤘 It's so wonderful to see you react to Marko singing. Truly enjoyed your reaction. So many new Nightwish fans tend to forget that Nightwish had 15 years of great success before Floor was asked to join. They have so much great music they made before 2012. Marko has been in the Metal music scene since 1984 and it was so great when he joined Nightwish in 2001.🤘
Your reaction was how I reacted the first time I heard this. I was like, "Holy cow, this guy has an amazing voice." May I also suggest you check out a band called Liliac, if you haven't already. I think you'll be quite impressed, especially considering their ages. Take care.
Nice one guys - knew you'd love this one. The joke in the fandom is that Marco is the only person in the world allowed to wear a T-shirt that says: "FLOOR JANSEN IS (sometimes) MY BACKUP SINGER" :-) . Marco wrote the tune to this, but he felt is wasn't right for his band Tarot, so he gave it to Nightwish and Tuomas wrote the words to it. IIRC, this is the song for which they first hired Troy to play pipes, something that turned out to be a spectacularly good decision, given that he subsequently joined the band and introduced Tuomas to both Richard Dawkins' work (which inspired the Endless Forms Most Beautiful album) and to Johanna Kurkela, whom Tuomas subsequently married! Other Marco singing highlights: Kiss While Your Lips Are Still Red (Wembley 2015): romantic ballad High Hopes (Pink Floyd cover) Isani Aani ('My Father's Voice' - solo project)
Great reaction from you both, and no Nightwish song are alike as you suspect already now. I would suggest you follow up on this one with some more ballads, showing all 3 singers currently in Nightwish: Kiss while your lips are still red, Wembley 2015 (Marco and Floor) Sleeping Sun, Tampere 2015 (Floor grabs 24.000) The Carpenter, Buenos Aires 2018 (Troy and Floor) My Walden, Tampere 2015 (Troy and Floor doing Celtics) Last of the Wild, Wacken 2013 - instrumental, Troy leads on Illeuan pipe, celtic - just great great music. And then just go back to Wacken 2013, and follow the setlist - that concert are legendary. Floor had only been in Nightwish for 10 months and none of songs were written to her, but she made them her own. When you move on to Wembley and Tampere concerts in 2015, more of the songs were written to her voice - the band had evolved. The Decades album / Buenos Aires 2018 is a tour down the memory lane, in Floor's interpretation of the old songs and great great music. The newest are written especially for all 3 singers - a masterpiece - and the first time Floor really got challenged - and she loved it. Unfortunately still only as studio - except one that you must do as a double session, starting with the official "How is the Heart" from the album and then do the acoustic version from Planet Rock Radio with Floor and Troy playing a kind of live. Extremely difficult song where Floor really are using her voice toolbox - and no wonder why Troy calls her voice "Stratospheric" - look at his face in the end - and he is used to play with her!!! You have lots of fun and joy coming your way 😉 🤘 🤘 🤘 Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰 👍
Told you there were weasels in the Nightwish rabbit-hole! That guitar Marko calls "The Beast" - maybe the weight, maybe the sound - both fit! People have called Marko "Gandalf" before they learned his name - Fruedian slip? Great song, great reaction.
Floor isn't the only one that can make you cry. Marko wrote the instrumental for this and the lyrics are written by Marko and Tuomas. Marko is just one of the many reasons that we love Nightwish SO MUCH. Great reaction, my friends. See you next time 🤗
with Nightwish you can expect the unexpected so this song is complete different then what you are used to from Nightwish and just when you think you've heard it all, the next song is again completely different thnx for you reaction
Thank you both for this. Marko was even a more amazing vocalist before 1996 when he had a throat surgery during which the surgeon damaged a nerve in Marko's vocal chords. Only after very hard work he regained his ability to sing again only losing his clean falsetto voice. P.S. Marko's instrument is a custom built Warwick Infinity/Panthera double neck bass and guitar.
I liked Floor clapping and smiling as Marco games back. I love how much they have fun with each other. Marco will be 55 in January. If you want more Marco you can do High Hopes a Pink Floyd cover and Kiss while your lips are still red. His band with his brother called Tarot and his solo album.
what a wonderful response again. it is a pleasure to watch your reactions on Nightwish. Another emotionol song ? Floor and Marko singing Ave Maria. Floor is pregnant at that show and also sings holly night in Finnish solo 😘
Marko wrote the music and Tuomas the lyrics, I believe. It was on "Dark Passion Play", released in 2007. The official video to this is worth checking out.
Hi Mike, Ginger, the music video for this song is worth a reaction on it's own merits, absolutely beautiful and much more emotional: Nightwish - The Islander (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
@@NicholasCorvin more production less improvisation, i personally love this version above all, one of the best displays of Marko's talent but of course the music video is very enjoyable as well, Annette does a good job in the backing vocals.
Having heard the “live” version, the MV is a little more moving, visually. I feel the meaning is better understood by the imagery of the MV and each definitely has their unique “coloring”. I love them both, but I tend to be more “visual”, so connected more deeply with the MV. Annette has a unique placement in the band’s history, as does Troy, and this performance kinda crosses their histories...Troy tying them together. I actually enjoy Annette’s vocals and her specific connection to the band’s catalog during her tenure with NW. The one thing I have noticed about her vocals (and have heard mention from other fans), the power she lacks is often “enhanced” by adding layering in post-production, but difficult to compensate for during live performances. I’ve heard Marko has commented that with Floor on vocals, he doesn’t have to turn down his microphone to avoid overpowering Floor’s voice the way he would have to for Annette. I know it’s been several months since this reaction was posted, and I’m not sure I’ve seen all your videos since, but I feel you owe it to yourself to see the MV, if only for your enjoyment.
Well you figured it out 😉 ! Marco is a Wizard !!! Nobody knows how old he is. Legend is that He was Merlin ! LOL. He truly is awesome 👍❤️. GREAT Reaction guys. Thanks !
This song is off of Dark Passion Play, which is one of the two Anette records. Check out Master Passion Greed, arguably the heaviest song they’ve ever recorded and sung entirely by Marko.
This is definitely in my top songs of all time. I could listen to it 20 times in a row and not be bored with it. For more Marco check out their cover of Pink Floyd's High Hopes and While your lips are still red
If you want more Marko, and probably even more tears, go for While Your Lips Are Still Red @ Wembley. A beautfiul balad with an even more beautiful message
the videoclip of this song is also very beautiful.love it that you also see songs that are not only from Floor or them together. Marko has a great voice..you can also watch Marko and Floor singing "Ave Maria". it is amazing, knowing that Ginger loves opera music ..check it out and react. You will love it. greetings again from the netherlands.
Don't know if you have yet, but there is the phantom of the opera live. I thinks its from 2005. Anyway its Tarja, original vocalist and Marko. End of an era. Check it out.
Marko has a wonderful song that he did on his own named ......Song of my Father.... done in both english and finnish that you would enjoy also the band he shares with his brother .....Tarot ...has a great video for their song... Wings of Darkness....where you get a little of Marko's humor at the beginning
Hey Ginger, for a pristine Floor Jansen singing Opera, look up “O Mio Babbino Caro”. She sang it in Italy not long before joining Nightwish in 2013. It is considered one of the top ever performances of the song. Also one of the most difficult to pull off. She did Giacomo Puccini proud. EDIT: here is the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UeTyAZtV5wI.html
They will always surprise you :) Marco wrote the tune and Thomas wrote the lyrics for this song. :) Please check out their cover of Pink Floyd's High Hopes too - Marco is exceptional in that too.
I agree fully with Randell Morris's suggestion below, Marko's version of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes"" is totally out of this world. Plus any songs from Floor performed in the European show The Bestie Zanmgers.
Great reaction as always! Marko should weer a t-shirt with Floor Jansen is nu back vocalist! Another great Marko song is While Your Lips Are Still Red from Live At Wembley!
"Master Passion Greed" is also sang by Marko and arguably Nightwish' most heaviest song. Pretty much the opposite of what you just heard. I bet you'll like it.
Great sweatshirt. I'm not too far from Seven Springs, as I live in Western Maryland. I love this version of The Islander. Marko is such a ham onstage and can control an audience as well as anyone. And you know you are amazing when Floor Jansen is your back up singer.
We had a great time hiking and shooting clays in the fall at Seven Springs a couple of years ago. A nice time to visit, if you're not hung up on skiing. -M
I really like Nightwish and I used to enjoy reactions to their songs, but now every reaction channel (not the ones that only do pop stuff) is turning into Nightwish reaction channels. Of course I can appreciate Ginger's new found love for Nightwish and Floor.
@@nimasharifi7999 Sure, bands like Epica, Sabaton, Ayreon, Blind Guardian, Wintersun, and a host of others. Sadly the American music industry is not at all interested in quality, their music needs to sell which leaves little room for quality. I have nothing against the Justin Biebers and the Miley Cyrussed of this world, I just don't like their music. For me American music ended midway of the nineties and it has been terrible ever since. And simply don't have the patience to do a deep dive in American bands because those that make the cut invariably float to the surface in Europe too, mainly due to Nuclear Blast.
Another great reaction! If you want some more Marco, his most amazing vocals are on their cover of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4oEDnVeYYyM.html There's also a really lovely song that Marco wrote himself (with lyrics by Tuomas) called "Kiss while Your Lips are Still Red" that you shouldn't miss: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5V7PKv493Ic.html
This shows versatility of Nightwish... They go music in front not the money. I think this is why they are bringing really different fanbase as other metal bands. Marko is great musician and he has been creating one of the first metal bands in finland, Tarot (which is still going). Couple songs to check where Marko is singing. His soloproject song is in english and in finnish - Voice of My Father / Isäni Ääni. I prefer finnish version cause lyrics are more deeper, but to english speakers english version is of course easier. Other song to suggest is Northern Kings - We Don't Need Another Hero Tina Turner cover. Northern Kings is project group of four finnish metal singers and Marko is one of them.
you should check out Tarja singing with Nightwish. She's the original and quite amazing. not wishing to pit her and Floor (or Annette) against each other they each brought their own magic. Tarja is very special (more operatic).
It's from Dark Passion Play, the first album after Tarja. Marko is a frontman in his own right. You should give a listen to his latest solo album, Pyre of the Black Heart, I would start at the beginning with the song Stones.
