He used the repetativeness and swearing very ironically in this song. He wrote this to mock the modern music at the time when he wrote it (about 2003). Looking at it like that, it's kinda genius.
Yeah, he is "crazy" as an artist. But as a person, he is actually extremely intelligent and well-spoken. You should watch some interviews with him - he constantly blows interviewers out of the water with his intelligent analyzes and comments. About this song: This is actually a great sarcastic comment on the media industry. That's why the whole text doesn't actually seem to have a "message". It's just "Babble babble bitch bitch , rebel rebel party party, sex sex sex and don't forget the violence, blah blah blah got your lovey-dovey sad-and-lonely, stick your stupid slogan in, everybody sing along". It's a comment on the media industry that doesn't care about the content at all, just about if they can SELL that content to people. And by the way: The car he arrives in at the start is what Hitler used to be driven around in and the building they stop at is a copy of the old Nazi-party headquarters. Just in case the sarcasm in the lyrics wasn't enough to drive the message home... ;)
I’m not a Marilyn Manson listener per say, but I have watched quite a few interviews with him and agree wholeheartedly. In a lot of ways he reminds me of Alice Cooper who is also misunderstood and miss judged. Both of those guys are extremely smart. I add that on here just so that the grandmas know that’s not just a fan based statement above 👍
@Eric Byrd I don't know what you've seen but the first two comments are correct. He is highly educated, articulate, an artistic genius and a fantastic entertainer. I like some of his stuff but I don't claim to be a fan but I know enough about him to know you don't know enough to say he is a "lucky moron". He's worked extremely hard and fought all sorts of defamation and controversy, including being blamed as the inspiration for the Columbine massacre. That would destroy a normal person and this guy rose above it all and calmly and articulately destroyed all the accusers and showed them up for the moronic "christians" they supposedly are

Not so much about the industry in general, but about his own audience only enjoying it because they're supposed to or it's catchy. He's an artist at his core and I think this one is more a cynical jab at the audience who don't get when they're the joke.
Age group disclaimer: I'm in my early 40s and followed his early years in my late high school and then here and there in more recent years. Totally a side topic but I find this style of look on him amazingly sexy. The man used to rock makeup properly.... In my early 20s in Anchorage I got to see them perform in a very small venue during the Antichrist Superstar album period - one of the best performances I've seen live. The setup back then and in that little of a place was Very Minimal. Basically just space for the band and a smoke machine well-used, basically. His acting on stage... jaw-drop stage presence at the time.
@CrazyFish I think that one didn't age well, used to love it, but he had shown his point agains't religion and everybody knew he used to do drugs, but putting both things together... worked for me when it came out and I was 13, now I find it a little unnecessary (not saying It's bad, I do like, but If it wasn't released wouldn't make any difference). If they felt a little unconfortable with New Shit, instead of being edgy suggesting (s)AINT, let's make them enjoy him with non-offensive stuff and good art (he has both anyways, I'm a huuuge fan tho)

You should hear Marilyn Manson on the Bill O'Reilly show or any interview he has ever done. Brilliant man who uses his songs in art to create devious thought-provoking imagery to prove his points
Manson is ironicall, he's actually talking about the entertainment industry as a critic. He uses irony to shock, so it's ok you feel disgusted by the content of the video. That content is what society wants to consume, on the TV, porn, etc...
Wonderful, genuine reaction, well done ladies! I really think you'd enjoy a band called "Nightwish"; not huge in the USA but really quite big in Europe and South America. They mix orchestral music with beautiful singing and metal sounds, they're awesome! The best song to start with from them is "Ghost Love Score", and the best version of this is the one live from Wacken 2013 :)
True they were big here in Germany and Europe and they still have their fans but I for one though open-minded just never cared for them after the bad separation from Tarja ... its personal taste ...

I've seen over 50 bands live in my lifetime. Marilyn Manson put on the 2nd best concert I've ever seen. I loved that show and would absolutely go again and again.
