I've been reading some guides on positions. You're prolly the first to explain this with details as to WHY certain slots are important. Instead of "do this do that, cuz we said so." Thank you so much for your guides, it's definitely enlightening to gain insight into the game mechanics with the hows and whys, rather than following the norms of fleet composition just because.
Honestly, some great tips. Sure, they are things that a person will figure out along the way. But so useful for a lot of people to get these tips. Just organizing the fleet optimally can make a big difference.
(sry for spam) Ano... Help Me.... Just3c and everyone I want ask something, i being stucked at farming gold gears, idk why some players have a lot lot lot of gold gears, while im feel very struggling to get them, i already try farm the blueprints which have drop rate a lot harder then 0.25% drop rate SSR ships and farming golds to buy T4 boxes, then what i got just same gold gears, gold cranes, and a flood of purple gears I already try browse in any forums, or guides, they still tell the same what i did -_- Now, i have no idea Please help me Your help can save my 2 years worth of 7-2 grind or gold gear blueprint mining, the world will grateful to the one tell the truth
@@blacktigerace6687 Although Gold Gears, for the most part are the best gear, purple gear is not to be underestimated. Also, just cause it's gold or purple doesn't make it the best choice. That being said, I have very few gold gears, all of which I got out of boxes. I have a total of 7 gold or higher gear that I am using on my main fleet and 3 of them were gear that I got through the Divergent Chessboard event, rainbow quint magnetic torps, gold Twin 203mm Main (SK C), and Gold Me-155a. 2 are Gold Catapults (from boxes), 1 Gold Twin 127mm (out of box), and a Gold Quad 40mm Bofors AA gun (out of box). Obviously I'm running a KMS fleet. However everything else is all Purple gear. To be honest farming for gold gear is just something I do when I'm bored or as a side result of doing other things, such as the Glorious event. I farmed enough parts for 2 Gold Quint torps while just running SP3 for the 55 runs I did. Already got Glorious as a drop and was sick of the map at that point. lol
Mychael Dark buying tech boxes isn’t a really good way to get gold gears in my opinion, it’s just way to costly for a low chances. Those people just grind real lots.
I get that this is supposed to be a HMs fleet, but in general you would also want at least 1 DD for the lower the chance of encountering an airstrike or beeing intercepted by an enemy fleet. It also increases evasion chance once you are facing an interception fleet
Also, equip an SG radar somewhere if you worry about ambushes. Boss fleets also care about evading ambushes - you don't want to be forced into a fight if you have to pay 70 oil per engagement, and you definitely don't want to lose the 20% damage buff.
For mob only imo. For boss, not much. Still a problem while trying for 2☆. But after that, its not. Bos fleet only attack twice max, and that if got ambushed while going for the boss. So even all CA, its still not a big issue.
Can you spot three mistakes? 1. Multiple Barrage BB ( OH I can spot this) 2. Vanguard positioning mistakes ( Oh this too it"s obvious) 3.Not fully enchanced (How could I know lol)
@@intruder6628 thats actually a pretty good fleet although when you hit chapter 13, I would recommend finding sometimes replacements for your 1st fleet
Seems I've been following these rules without even knowing it, my fleet isn't really a good fleet since I base it on waifu material but I have been following these rules My fleet goes Akagi Hood Kaga Prinz eugen Laffey Helena As you can see I positioned laffey (the weakest ship) in the middle of the vanguard and positioned hood (the only backliner with a barrage) in the middle and they're all max enhanced
It's a germanic name not a scotish one tough in this form, especially the burg part so Edin-burg is correct. Scots shouldn't have lost their independance and language if they want to keep their more celtic sounding names.
I think there might be an unadressed issue... Skills such as smokescreen DO NOT STACK so using 2 vanguard ships with smokescreen is useless as 1 is sufficient. In the fleet, both Leander and Belfast had smokescreen, so, you were basically wasting an entire vanguard ship skill.
Whilst yes, identical skills don't stack, in this case Belfast's smokescreen is actually a different skill to the standard version, with different activation timings, so Belfast + Leander actually gives better smoke coverage than normal. Further, reading the smokescreen skill information suggests that it's the effects of the screen that don't stack rather than the chance of activation. If this is correct, then duplicate ships with normal smokescreens isn't entirely a waste, as you do increase the odds at least one going off in each activation window (so it's more a case of diminishing returns than outright wasting a skill), but I can't confirm the mechanics do match the description.
@@chomusuke4645 I'm afraid I don't get what point you're trying to make here. I never said anything about how useful a smokescreen may or may not be, just that multiples in this case should, by the wording of the skill, buff the effective proc rate and provide some value to having multiple ships with the skill in the same fleet (though, as I also said, it's diminishing returns, as the second copy of the skill isn't doing as much as the first). Also Lv10 Smokescreen is 40% increased evasion (Belfast's is 35%, with a 35% decrease in airstrike damage), so a bit more than 5%
@@RailwayFalcon i find the most cumbersome part of Azur Lane minmaxing is to get familiar with the skills of each ship, as well as what the max level of those skills really do.
there are some complicated bit in number 2. About vanguard positioning, you also have to sort it by what you need too... since initial positioning affect torpedo launching too. the "riskiest" position is the one who launched torp first, despite its reload stat(if their torpedo are all reloaded, or its the begining of battle, when all torp are reloaded) So if you use team like example: Tanikaze-Kamikaze-Ayanami Tanikaze will release her torpedo first and last will be ayanami, despite ayanami has much better reload stats.
Very useful video as always 3c-sensei! I hope the lack of AC isn't affecting you too much. I just wanted to ask if you're gonna release the new event ships review before or after the update? Thanks a lot!
That's what I run too...... Colorado and Maryland on the sides, Saratoga in the middle and on the other fleet Nelson and Rodney on the sides, with Ark Royal in the middle. The thing is, the Big 7 Barrage kind of covers the screen in shells, and if you have the two rear positions covered, they'll overlap anyway in the middle (unlike Warspite or Hood). I did think of adding a third one and seeing what happens (I have West Virginia who I use on commissions and such), but the level discrepancy is so huge now, I'm afraid she'll just get killed off (the original ones are around Lvl 98-99 and sh's like.. 14 or something).
I see what you mean about the barrage skill. I've noticed my Zeppy miss half the screen when she fires (but I love it when Mutsu cleans up for me!). Thanks for the advice on the vanguard!
if you follow this video you got most things settled, if you still struggle to beat a boss you should learn about optimizing gear and specific fleet compositions, which is all something he already has covered in other videos so go at it.
1. I guess I got this one right. Saw for myself that Nelson’s barrage does a wide spread attack that is most effective in the center, so I put her in the center 2. This is kind of second nature to me already. I always put a cruiser on the left and right side while I position a DD right in the middle of both Cruisers. DDs are (generally) the weakest type of ship in taking hits so they go in the center 3. Enhancing. I’m only doing this recently, so there’s this problem where Enty despite putting in 10 ships for enhancing, it doesn’t give any buffs. As for gear enhancing, I NEED MOAR PARTS (especially general parts)
There are some other factors that need to be considered in fleet configuration. While I absolutely agree that a BB with a Barrage is most effective in the middle, generally you want the ship that needs the experience the most in the middle. Depending if they are able to do the most damage in a sortie, they can pull in double the XP to level quicker. In PvP, as best as possible you want the ship you can afford to lose first at flagship with a descending order to the last position (Enty's best spot). As with the swapping aspect for the vanguard point position, I treat flagship the same way on clearing fleets. But I find that the top position on vanguard is the one with the best survivability not the middle, with bottom (point) being the meat shield/dodge tank. And if anyone isn't using ship drops from grinding to boost the stats of ships....what ARE you doing with them? 🤔
I got 1&2, but I was overthinking 3 and thought that was fleet synergy, having both Belfast and Leander in the same fleet not being optimal because they both use smokescreen which don't stack with each other. As for enhancing ships, always doing that, to the point where I'm max enhancing ships I've not even sortied yet. Bit harder to max out gear though, always low on main gun parts, but swimming in torpedo/aircraft parts, and I ONLY ever do the Firepower Escort Mission daily.
Ya know, I honestly didn't know about the first two despite how long I've been playing the game, I guess that explains Nagato's barrage looking weird when she fired it off on the 10-2 boss, LOL, I'll have to be sure to remember all of this.
Oh damn, I put hood in the wrong spot too. I usually put my first fleet's BBs in the left and right spots so their secondaries can protect the carrier in the middle from suicide boats
Thank you so much! I had no idea about either the barrage thing or the idea that the leftmost vanguard takes the most damage. I assumed the center would be for the lead ship and didn't really think about it.
My FP on Warspite retrofit is now 600 in total for great reason and Akagi and Kaga is over 500.... and believe me.... it can tore any ships apart even the most HP BBs... plus this combo is great to wipe out any Enterprise players.... as Type 1 and Super heavy shells will do a lot of damage on Enty while Akagi and Kaga will came afterwards and clean her up... bring San Diego with you if you want to protect the Enty... but it will only just reduce the damage slightly.... and you still cannot saved her as by the time Aircraft finish attacks... Warspite should be ready to fire a full salvo... And if Enty is survived by RNGs and Miracle... most Warspite Akagi Kaga combo will bring San Diego with them.... just incase if Enty survived....
PVP tips: Juneau is a must, always put her in the left side of vanguard fleet. + Eldridge for maximum cancer in PVP. Best counter for IJN nakaga fleet, i hate that fleet obliterates almost any fleet. Good game!
Another tip: use Illustrious if you use Eldridge. Her barrier skill still triggers Eldridge's skill even when taking hits. In fact, when the barrier is active, your vanguard will be guaranteed to take hits with no miss at 0 damage.
PVP tip (from former top 50) >If you got Nakaga. Akagi should wearing the highest suicidal damage planes (F4U cosair or the golden hell cat, golden BDT destroyer and golden barracuda). then Kaga should wear the (any planes fighter with heavy bombs. hell diver and barracuda). the reason for this is that you can damage the backline of the fleet much harder and possibly sank them right away. >Belfast is your loyal maid. she's the best light cruiser for pvp. thicc and her smokescreen makes your vanguard alive for another rounds >If you got Yukikaze (the great nanoda). consider yourself lucky. this is the only DD i can recommend in the era of the loli hunter, Aurora. Yukikaze can tank big dmages even from enterprise and she's fast as af. equip her with broilers so that she will be the on holding the line if your nakaga's vanguard fall. >Namahiryuu counter using nakaga (if it is not oathed...or only the backline and not the vanguard) >Main changes: Akagi (should be using BDT destroyer) Nagato: 450mm gun,+10 ..this is for wrecking hiryuu after she go blue >Vanguard changes: Sirius (get her tanky. bring her at the front, you will know why). Jesus chan(up) Yukikaze (middle) . be sure yuki got the broiler and the beaver thingy. the success rate of this depends how tough your vanguard is to hold the other's vanguard. our goal here is to waste jesus chan's enemy and hiryuu blue skill.. but if the enemy got jintsuu. do not fight..let's wait for better counter (HMS with retrofitted warspite) >if you want an effective nakaga until top 50 >main: Nakaga (oath just makes them tougher..but strenght..ehh). Nagato (410mm is the best for her) >vanguard: Aurora (do not remove her unless its namahiryu..you need sirius) , Yukikaze (do not remove her) , Belfast (can be change for jesus chan or jintsuu) >Lastly, enjoy the pvp. defensive team doesn't have any contribution xD (although they might be needed for top 50-10). just aim the highest rank target to get high points Edit: not 410mm. It should be 406mm
I run: 1.Takao - Tank / Burst Dmg (AP/HP) 2. Javelin(R) - Eva Boost / DPS (HP/AP) 3. Helena - Debuff / DPS (FULL HP) 1. Enterprise 2. Erebus 3. Tennessee This team costs 60+ oil but it sees me through alot of content solo while i play around with other units and team compositions.
I run Tirpiz, Akashi, Deutchland, Karlsruhe(R) and Leipzig for mobs (54 oil) and Nagato, Amagi, Yuudachi and Ayanami(R) (49 oil) for bosses. Farming Jintsuu in 10-4 with this.. And mob fleet is so huge cos I'm also farming exp for Roon, but honestly Phoenix would be enough solo for mob fleet.
I love how in my PvP fleet, my Suffolk can higher FP than an actual BBs with +70% FP buff. 15% from QE, 15% from Leander, and 40% from her skill. And that's even without a golden Eugen gun and double FC set up
Suffolk stupidly good for manual, not so much in auto, since her gun traverse are low. I found that she rack more mvp with double loader set instead of double FC. But I dont use that set for high eva bosses.
@@PrayToRNGesus keep in mind that she's just a cheap glass cannon. if you have roon, or azuma(coming soon). you'll know what's a glass cannon. {thicc armored glass cannon}
@@PrayToRNGesus Since I ran Beaver Tag and Boiler on her to bump her evasion to CL level, she can last quite a while especially with Pearl Tears. I also ran double smokescreen(Belfast+Leander) with further boost the evasion.
Oh wow, I've been playing since Neptune Colab... I did know that the vanguar middle spot was a safe spot for ships like Leander, but I didn't "notice" the left spot taking more damage so to say haha. Cheers for this mate.
ive have done most of these right, like having the barrages ship in the middle and other stuff, but that the left vanguard spot take most dmg, that i didnt know, and will be corrected from now on. thanks for that little tips XD
My favorite setup is having both Lexington and Saratoga at the top and bottom with Artillery Cover upgraded. That way they can spam shots from the back plus my battleship in the middle.
pausing at 0:35 ehh, Hood should be in the center to make the best use of her barrage ability. Leander(?) isn't very tanky and is mostly there for FP bonus, needs to be in the middle protected position on the Vanguard. Belfast being a higher level means she's got more HP to tank with and should be out in front not in the back. Low vanguard fleetpower suggests low quality equipment (Mine's at 12231 with Bel/Edin/Sirius) That's 4. Let's see how I did.
At 0:47 you say that Hood should be placed in the middle because of her being a battleship with barrage skill. This is true, but another thing I would add to why she certainly should be in the middle is because she has the highest health pool in the game.
Been swaping mob fleet vanguard place during battle like crazy lately due to higher lvl enemy. My vanguard mutsuki/kisaragi/uzuki are lvl75, while battling in 8-4 🤣. Good thing I got vestal/Uni/hood in the back, even put pearls tear for mutsuki just in case.
Well, considering QE is only good for her Nation buff skill, and that only works when she's flagship, this fleet either needs to not run QE, or not run Hood. And yes, I'm making 2/3 of these mistakes myself. I didn't know about the barrage skill positioning, nor did I know about the vanguard positioning. heh.
Good guide as always.BTW, curious on your criteria for ships from good, usable, and collectible like what you do on event videos. Any special thought process on that?
Good should be able to go up to W12 of this game at red danger lvl Usable will get you there with a bit of struggle, inefficiently, or carried by others Collectible will do anything W9 below and maybe W10-W11 with level advantage or safe danger level (and still with struggle)
For the first mistake, I don't really notice this issue. Maybe they changed how barrages work? Cause when I put my battleships on the top and bottom the barrages still go in the center. With the 2nd one..yeah I kinda messed up there. The 3rd one is more of I can't get enough ships to enhance with. Thanks though.
if a skill of a vanguard ship description says "if positioned in the leftmost position" is it from our perspective looking at the screen, or is it from the flag ship perspective?
What nobody tells me is which position is which. Like Kitakaze has a skill that activates when she is the lead ship. The devil is a lead ship. Lead sinks, it's heavy.
I know this is a necro, but I wanted to answer on the off-chance that you're still looking for clarification on this. When a Vanguard skill specifies positioning, the "frontmost" is on the left side in the formation editor and the "rearmost" is the right side.
tbh I've been playing the game since English servers launched and to this day i mostly use fleets that consist of ships i like the most regardless if there's a team synergy or not.
I knew these’s besides the rear fleet one. I know the vanguard one because my sandy was left for so long and kept dying while my aboa (strongest one in the fleet) was right and i kept saying “i gotta switch em” yet never did until i finished my 3-4 farming
Do people not figure this out like 2 sortie into a harder map? I haven't played in a while but I remember CV-BB-CV(AR) with CA-CL-CA with AP guns can get you through most of the content. (I still think the German Event was when the game peaked, they nerfed the difficulty and maze like map design to cake walk levels and open maps after that event.)
My current issue is that in my full KMS fleet, Bisko always has to be the flagship to maximize her power... but chibi Zeppy also has a pretty good barrage... which needs to be at the center to maximize the power. I kind of wish we can squeeze two ship girls together in the center spot, lol. xD
@@aldyzero6676 Yes, I know. But Little Zeppy's barrage can be quite powerful in a full KMS fleet, especially when buffed by Bisko's skills... but she can't be at the center, because Bisko has to be at the center, lol.
On earlier maps yes, due to enemies have low accuracy, Yuki is actually more tanky than most ships. On later map (ch10+) i suggest putting her in middle or right.
Btw when it comes to enhancing ships does it matter what type of extra shipfu you use when enhancing or can you use any extra's? I enhanced Z23 (my starter) earlier and she gained stats in everything that could be raised from pretty much any fodder used.
