Since time immemorial, all American railroad timetables (Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, etc.) have written "Effective from 12:01 AM" for such-and-such day. Evidently no one has ever clarified whether 12:00 AM is part of the first or second half of the day.

Da tempo immemorabile, su tutti gli orari delle ferrovie americane (Union Pacific, Southern Pacific eccetera) c'è scritto "Effective from 12:01 AM" del giorno tal dei tali. Evidentemente nessuno ha mai chiarito se le ore 12:00 AM facciano parte della prima oppure della seconda metà del giorno.

Great! Everything's clear! As for the second tip, can we use the sentences 'what about you?' and 'What's up?'. And thank you for clarifying once and for all, in the third tip, the difference in the use of the verb 'have got' (British English) and 'have' (American English)' as in the sentences 'I haven't got blue eyes' (British) and 'I don't have blue eyes' (American). Thanks.

You’re welcome!! “What about you?” is used after someone has already asked about someone else. In that case it’s correct. “What’s up?” is very informal and it is often used to ask “Che c’è?” but if the situation is appropriate you could also use it that way. 😊

Da quando ho fatto due erasmus in Portogallo e Francia, ho capito che l'inglese insegnato a scuola era lontano dal permettermi di capire una persona. Il tuo lavoro è fondamentale per chi voglia parlare e capire un nativo senza essere sul posto. Complimenti per la chiarezza con cui spieghi, sei molto brava

About reading numbers to tell the time, I remember that when I was at University (in 1989 ) some of us would do that, my British teacher would remark: 'in proper Emglish", meaning : say it in proper Emglish. All lamguages evolve in time and the simplest use tends to prevail. However, I was taught the traditional way and tend to use that. I use the other way when I'm referring to timetables details e.g. The 9:20 train, The 8:50 lesson etc. So I am not totally outdated :)...

Qui in Inghilterra dicono “are you ok?” o semplicemente “you ok?” Per dire “hello”. Se rispondi “fine thanks” ti guardano malissimo 😂😂😂

Anche in Germania 'have/has got' viene insegnato agli inizi (quinta elementare) insieme al verbo 'to be', nell'ambito del British English. La ragione è che così, per almeno un paio di 'Units' i bambini non sono confrontati con l'uso dell'ausiliare. Ciò facilita l'approccio didattico. Resta comunque un problema, perché tutti gli altri verbi tranne 'have got' e 'to be' (incluso 'have' in altri contesti, come dice giustamente Miriam) hanno necessità di un ausiliare. È un compromesso scelto dalla casa editrice, immagino...

In the UK when they ask you how are you they expect a positive super short answer such as very well, l am fine, just to get the conversation going especially at work...it's just a formality you don't have to answer the truth if you're not well....not sure what the Americans really mean - the Brits can be very polite but false...😊

Guarda @francescafrancesca5125 che nemmeno in Italia se ti chiedono come stai si aspettano un bollettino… questa storia degli inglesi falsi stufa, ci sono italiani falsi se è per questo. Qui bisogna imparare un metalinguaggio poi vai a gonfie vele.

2 things. 1) From 1 to 10 minutes in usa they say for instance 8.05.... 8 o 5... 0 as o 2) Also very common is the expression how are you doing?

I have the same problem in tei have the same problem ,with studenti when they wont a recomendation fro me in englesh It creato confusione.I think that the best way would be to learne one and then the other ecspleineng both ways and to use it in the right nazionale.

Beh in NY non si sognano di chiedere "How are you" a meno che tu non stia vomitando 😅 Molto spesso ti chiedono HOW YOU DOING? (the G is silent) Che la prima volta mi sono chiesto - Cosa ho fatto? Qualcosa di sbagliato? 🤔
