Theory: Gaster exists in any location where darkness can be cast. In the shade of a tree, standing behind a rotary phone in a dark room, etc. Near the Hotland elevators where you speak to the Gaster followers, one of them mentions that "its rude to talk about someone who's listening" but Gaster doesnt appear to be present. Gaster may be the darkness that envelopes that entire area and thus, is listening.

That would explain why there’s a gaster follower who you only see in their original monster form in deltarune and not undertale. The three others could possibly be the monsters from undertale, but the last one for sure can’t be, meaning at least one comes from the other universe

That Halloween, I just conveniently decided to stay home and not Trick-or-Treat, and lo’ and behold, fucking Deltarune came out. It was pretty weird to be playing a game just as people where starting to play it as well. I usually wait a bit to hear if it’s good, but then I saw it was free. Wasn’t doing anything, so I decided what the hell and tried it, and it was pretty neat.

As much as the Gaster theory/theories adds up, I also like the theories where they treat deltarune as it's own world-though possibly connected to Undertale. Kinda like "deltarune is another timeline/universe" (I don't mind Gaster or Sans in it, but the ones involving Chara does-most "clues" point out to *one* line and they probably don't have the ability to travel between universes) or a personal favorite of mine, is the fact that Kris might have a mental disorder and Susie could be their "savior" while fighting her own demons. Childhood theories are good too, sometimes.

All the gaster followers coloured counterparts make mistakes, orange guy forgets to make a reservation, the guy who's holding a piece of gaster buys a spider donut but now he has no money, and the deltarune guy tells you to read the books upstairs but he's blocking it, monster kid always falls over and clamgirl misspelled susie

Best shit ive seen all day. My mind is blown and i popped a vessel from laughing too hard at the last theory.

I know this is an old video but Deltarune has got me hooked again and your ideas have got me thinking. The comment about Gaster's mind being in one world and his body being in another is quite interesting and it led me to going through things/characters that we saw in Deltarune that could be some sort of manifestation of Gaster. While we have the egg bestowing man behind the tree I'm gonna take a guess and say that while that is him, Gaster didn't necessarily have to be corporeal to do that. So the idea I have here is that Gaster's body BECAME the world of Deltarune in a sense. That idea mostly comes from a concept I once heard about in passing, a theory proposed by philosopher Philipp Mainländer, wherein the universe was created through god's death (or more specifically his suicide, as distributing his form into an entire universe was the only way he could kill himself). Now I don't think Gaster had the same intentions as this hypothetical god when he fell into the core, but I think a part of his hypothesis involved the idea that the core could not destroy matter (or magic) but simply transmogrify it by infinitely breaking it apart and reforming it. Monsters barely have any physicality to them so the traits present in Deltarune are indicative of his memories and the information he gains from the Undertale world, as he is constantly and most likely will always be constantly breaking apart and regenerating. This constant regeneration is what allows Deltarune to be a living breathing world, but oddly "shallow" in a sense since Gaster is simply one induvial and does not have the lived experience or profound knowledge to generate an entire logically functioning world.

I know I'm very late, but just started playing deltarune and I love it. The bird creature from deltarune, who looks like one of the followers but in grey, it made me think about the fact that darkners can't stay in another dark world for to long, or they'll then into stone and become grey..

So deltarune is just gaster’s massive undertale fanfic, got it Edit; I wrote this comment in the middle of the second theory, great minds think alike lmao

I actually had a little theory of how the world of deltarune was created after the genocide route when chara asks you (the player) to erase the world and move onto the next, therefore created the world of deltarune being the next world, but gaster would stay the same as he is split between time and space being unaffected by the erase and creation, and mabye sans to since he has powers over time and space, now I'm thinking that kris is actually the incarnation of frisk and chara since frisk was a puppet in undertale and so is kris, the reason I think chara is also there is because if Clara's traits like the colour scheme and their red eyes at the end if chapter 1, those two merged together creating kris, no memories of his past life but he knows that one day an entity known as the player starts controlling him, therefore kris takes out his soul but you know not being able to live without it puts it back in eventually, mabye gaster has different intentions to this world

i mean even without the very very interesting call back just by the "typing quirks" you can tell that it is gaster with the full capital lettering and the lack of Asterisk at the start of lines (although it could be papyrus who shares the same typing quirks but shhh )

Undertale, Toby, and the fanbase have all taught me that no, the fanfic theory is not complete bs and that yes, I would not be surprised if this was actually true

This just proves how great of a character Gaster is. Even though not technically existing, they have been given enough information to fit into any kind of story they need to when their time (probably) comes to actually exist. The amount of fan theories is proof alone.

Always had a real hard time believing Gaster's the Knight. I think Gaster was the visitor Seam spoke of, but Seam has also talked about the Knight separately. I think if they were the same person he'd know. But even past that, what's up with that queen Nevil mentions if you beat him violently? I've never heard any theory or anything about that! Why is no one talking about this!? ...Anyway, Nevil implied she's more powerful and higher rank than the Knight. And I just doubt that Gaster, who clearly is in control of everything, would establish a higher authority than himself.

Why do I have a feeling of dread that your right? It feels very close to the possible true meaning. As Gaster is losing himself in his fantasy restricting everyone to appease only himself without thinking about how he effects others and practically condemns them in endless loops of either good endings only to be reset or bad endings that may or may not be the final time Gaster (or the player) interacts with that part of the game or "experiment"
