Many people are haunted by their days in high school. But these three high schools are apparently haunted by the spirits of the dearly departed.

My high school in Texas was the first to have their own Olympic-sized pool. There was a legend that sometime in the 60’s, a PE class had been swimming and then all went to the dressing room to shower. One boy said he forgot his towel and went back into the pool area to get it. They later found him at the bottom of the pool, drowned. After that, there were stories of him haunting the school, but me in the 80’s thought it was an urban myth. That is, until the day I was in the auditorium before drama class practicing a monologue I was to deliver that day, and I looked out into the audience at the back row of seats, and there were the head and shoulders of someone! I couldn’t see any details but I saw their shape and it looked to be that of a teen boy. I shaded my eyes from the stage lights and looked again, and he’d disappeared. I thought it was one of these two dweebs who always sat back there during class, and I called out asking if that was them, thinking they’d ducked down behind the seats. I got no answer so I hauled up the aisle to the last row and…nothing! There was absolutely no one but me in there! It wasn’t the first ghost I had ever encountered, but it was certainly my first shadow person. So I guess the legend was true. Can’t blame him for hanging out in the auditorium for our drama class. We loved improvisation and it could get pretty wacky up there on the stage 😂

The Michael Sullivan story is called "The Ghostly Trumpeter of Paola High School" in Lisa Heisz's book ""Haunted Kansas". 😊
@-Reagan
@-Reagan Год назад
Plot twist: Michael is still there because he never tried to kill anyone - he was murdered by the other trumpet player. Maybe it was just a joke, tripping Michael. Or maybe it was planned... He might’ve broke the instrument for a reason to go upstairs to where he knew Michael practiced. Maybe there was something else Michael had up there he wanted and taking it caused the struggle. Maybe some weed he wanted for himself or threatened to tell on Michael. After all, he might have seen Michael as a real rival, especially if he had a bad attitude (like most bullies) and the coach didn’t like it. Coach might’ve threatened to replace him. Maybe he mentioned to Michael, ´hey, you spend so much time up there, don’t you know where it might be?´ Michael was happy to be helpful. That’s why coach said Michael could go. Then, whatever happened, they believed him when he said he was just trying to defend himself. Michael pushed him first, and he didn’t know how he lost balance - he couldn’t believe that Michael was really trying to kill him, he didn’t even push him back... but, who knows about a weird loner like that? Maybe Michael was just jealous... 😏 Point being, if anyone falls down the stairs after a struggle, you don’t get to automatically assume that was an accident or who was the real victim.

When I was younger, I attended a boarding school in Devon, England. The school was formerly a stately home. There were several ghosts reportedly attached to this place. In the grounds was a cork tree, and a maid was supposedly impregnated by the son of the owner of the house. She hung herself from the tree. A gas repairman was working in the cellar, and he heard someone approaching him. He asked the person to pass him a tool, but nothing was passed. He looked up to where the noise had come from, and saw only a pair of legs, no torso or head. He never came back for his tools! My own personal experience: I was up in the attic area, called the jockey dorms, or servants' quarters. Some of the boys were being taken on a camping weekend, and the tents had to be brought down. I was the last one of the boys in the room, and I heard a wheezing, barking sort of noise behind me. I turned and saw a pulsating black mass in a corner, corresponding with the wheeze. I later found out that a stable boy had passed away from TB in that room.

I used to sub at an elementary school that I’m pretty sure was haunted. Classroom doors, even the ones in between the rooms, used to blow open. You could actually feel the gust of wind, even though there were no windows open. No one was scared when it would happen, though. Once, a kid blurted out, “HI BOB!” There was also a time I could feel someone lean over my shoulder and take a peek at what I was doing while I was tutoring a small group of students. When I turned around, there was no one there. I have no idea where “Bob” came from, and it’s also not clear whether hanging around in an elementary school all the time is Heaven or Hell for him 😂

I went to school here back in 80-81 well I should say Clyde A Irwin School. We moved here when everything went to hell up in Detroit. My dad's mother and father, well the majority of his family lived in Asheville/ Leicester/Canton. I know that I always had a overwhelming feeling of dread every time we would pull up on the campus. I went to school everyday like I was supposed to, but my brother was a different story. He absolutely refused to go to school. He went the first couple of days after Mom registered us and then after that he refused. And that was back in the day when they still had truant officers that would show up at your house if you didn't go, and drag you to school. They were not going to drag my brother to school. They didn't care if you were standing on the bus stop smoking cigarettes back when they were $0.55 a pack, they just wanted to make sure you were going to school. Never could figure out why he wouldn't go, but this explains it all, I guess. I even remember the old convenience store that was right up the road before they had convenience stores. It was called Ice Service, which I always thought was weird name for a store.

Not from a hospital with hundreds of mentally ill and terminally ill people. The numbers were too many and record keeping was shoddy. If they survived . That its why many were not marked or buried in mass graves. Many cities are built on top of cemeteries. They just don't disclose this information.

I lived in a house from the age 2 till age 10 when it mysteriously burned. The whole neighborhood was built on an old cemetery and super paranormal stuff happened in the all of the houses in the neighborhood. It wasn't revealed till years after we left about the cemetery. There was a vacant lot behind the house that we used to dig deep "forts" and caves . One day one of the developers drove up and was freaking out screaming at me my friends to stop digging and leave the lot alone. I was an adult when I found out about the cemetery. One old neighbor we remained friends with and who still lived there told us it was the inspiration for "Poltergeist". Really weird stuff went on.

That first one, I felt sorry at first, but what a fuckin' idiot when he tried to kill that other guy. Feel sorry for that woman in the second story, what an asshole who shot her. Lastly, feel sorry for everyone buried that got either moved around or beneath a football field of a high school. That janitor story, him lighting up his lighter in the dark, that probably would've pissed enough to bitch at them and not run away.

Yeah I've complained about my high school years and they weren't the most terrific but for my dad and what he shared with me sounded like a nightmare as he spent his four years of high school in an all boys boarding school run by Jesuit Brothers.Anyone whom is catholic and went to these schools and or orphanages during the 70s and before will understand this.

@@Phoeberuthless Really? Was it tribal people? Down the hill, towards the nice homes there was a fatal car accident ( more than one probably.) Girl sped and hit one of the light posts. Wasn't experienced enough to take the curve at that speed and shouldn't have been speeding. That was 1987.

So the kid from Paola never got in trouble then?

The kid learning how to play the trumpet reminds me of the true story of blues King Robert Johnson. He to couldn't play a guitar if his life depended on it. That was until Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil at the crossroads in Mississippi

Cathedral High School near Dodger Stadium in California. It is built on the original cemetery for the early Spanish settlement called 'El Pueblo de la Reina de los Angeles'. Now known as Los Angeles. The school mascot is known as the Phantoms for the many ghosts of the dead that roam the grounds. This is without a doubt one of the most haunted places in the United States...
