Back in 1963 as a teen I paid respect to my uncle my moms brother. Sitting back in this small tiny chapel with my older sister and cousin. Fast forwarding it was filled with family and friends. I was taken by surprise of a woman dressed all in black from top to bottom. She was with a white handkerchief wiping a statue. I was intrigue why she didn't sit down with us. After the service was over we were told to go out. We left first because we were in the back. Still this woman was still there. Thinking about who this woman was. I mentioned it to my mom. She walked back in and didn't she her. I ask mom where is she.? I came out describing her as I saw and said the lady had a black mole on her cheek. My mom looked surprise and said you didn't see her. I said yes I know what I saw. I ran back in then my mom came behind me. She told me you couldn't have seen her, it's a lady she once knew who died earlier in life. She often came around while alive. Yet knowing found out she was laid to rest in that same parlor in 1955. So you hear some come back peacefully and cause no hard. All funeral homes have spirit sighting, I rather not call them ghost because they were once alive human beings.

It has a rich history and was actually an important place in the community. You can see remnants of its funky former glory today, along with memorabilia honoring said community value. BUT, in its current state, it’s a freaky ass place! Too bad we can’t post pics. I only have a few. My friend owns it now so I’ve been all through it. He’s definitely not trying to downplay the creepy. 👻. I can’t believe it’s on this list!

@@Terri_MacKay I haven’t forgotten about you! I’ve just been busy working and recovering from working. And neglecting everything. You can start with the Cleveland Press Collection - the newspaper is no longer in print. I think the collection is housed at the Cleveland State University library. I imagine that if you find the website for the library, they would have other resources for local historical info. Another resource might be the Western Reserve Historical Society. It’s located in Cleveland but I believe it covers the whole western reserve area beyond Cleveland, so I’m not sure what it’s primary focus is. The area used to belong to Connecticut and so was their “western reserve” which is where the name comes from and why you’ll see so many local things named for it. For instance, I went to CWRU, Case Western Reserve University here in Cleveland. The name was chosen later when a number of smaller institutions joined together to form one larger. When I attended, people disproved of just calling it “Case” since that was the name of just one of the smaller schools - Case Institute of Technology and thus not an accurate representation or some such. Apparently they have since rebranded and use Case in the new brand. I’m sure they faced a ton of backlash! Anyway, I digress. Let me know what or if you find anything, either on House of Wills or other things you find interesting, which I may or may not have heard of myself! Meanwhile, if I think of something else or come across something, I’ll let you know.

@@Terri_MacKay I’d love to know his thinking behind the decor he chose, BTW. Like the Egyptian themed room… if I remember correctly, there isn’t an overall theme as much as themed spaces. I’d also liked to know who lived in the apartment on the top floor at any given time. It’s quite sunny and bright up there, with decent views, as opposed to some of the darker, windowless rooms below. I think I’d be ok to live there if there were a separate entrance via an exterior staircase! Haha.

I once lived in a house that had served as a mortuary/funeral home from the time it was built in 1889, until the Great Depression hit. It was then converted into a family home… I lived there from 1990-1992. Let me tell you, that place was *incredibly* haunted. Took me decades to conclude it must’ve been all of the tragedy, grief and sadness that had been experienced within its walls that probably caused the high amount of activity.

It's asinine to deny common sense, so I don’t get why skepticism is generally associated with “scientific” thinking. Either I’ve zero spiritual sensitivity or intuition or I’ve simply never been exposed. Regardless, I still *know* that such things have the potential to exist. By logical extension it seems obvious that nursing homes, funeral homes, cemeteries, overall really anywhere death frequents, possess the potential for any spiritual unrest.

The movie Reservoir Dogs was mostly filmed in an abandoned funeral home. I have a knack for hearing spirit dialog/evps in paranormal investigation videos, we'll while Watchung Reservoir Dogs I picked up several unaccounted for voices. I'm actually thinking of making a video covering these, and sharing the audio of the ones I could make out the words. I learned that the hearse that Mr.Blonde sits on in the film was left in the building as well . Mr Oranges apartment was filmed in the upstairs of the place.

I was in the funeral business for over 25 years and yes there's some pretty creepy things that can happen. I was working alone one night, I had only been on the job for about 6 months, I was getting ready to embalm a man and I had loosely tied his hands together like I usually do, I dropped my trocar, and I bent over to pick it up, the man's arm slipped out of the loosely fitted knot and his hand hit me on the head. I thought ok, I didn't secure his hands tight enough, so I put his hands in the position again, I turned to get another trocar and the man's arm fell again, I secured it again, started the embalming process, went in the office and stayed in there until the procedure was done, then I locked everything up and went home, I went back early in the morning to finish getting him ready for viewing.

I would never live in a former funeral home that's been converted to a residential home but not for the reasons you think the chemicals used for embalming are highly carcinogenic!!! And the fumes they emit permeated the walls and structure of the home and they are emitted thru the pores of the deceased I know it's a kind gesture to touch and some people kiss the deceased but as I said those chemicals are seeping out of the pores and you absorb a small amount of them thru your skin when you touch them I know this as my friend is a licensed funeral director and embalmer

Back in like 07 I remember being 11 and I'd go with my mom to her work at a wedding chapel and I'd be playing on her coworkers computer and I'd always have an unsettled, spooked feeling , turns out place was hella haunted, if anyone cares , here's a few happenings 1. The owner and his daughter were moving stuff from the attic to one of the offices and the owners daughter , as she got to the top of the stairs leading into the attic, something yanked her ponytail back and it was sticking straight out in the air being pulled. almost causing her to fall down the stairs. 2: (I was actually there for this one) my mom and I were in her office when her coworker screamed and when we went to see what was going on , she said she just got burned on her lower back, then she showed it to us and it was 3 huge semi bleeding scratches. 3. My mom was preparing a wedding and the groom comes running out the bathroom panicking , claims as he was peeing, something completely spun him around. 4. One night as my mom was finishing up the night , getting ready to leave. She heard someone over the PA system doing an Evil sounding laugh, it was only her and her female coworker there& the PA system wasn't even functional at the time. There's so much more but that was the craziest off the top, I also remember being on the computer one night in her friends office and an F'n EVP investigation team from 4 hours away showed up and recorded EVPS and there were so many voices that showed up, sounded like a mother with a few of her kids talking back and forth, a few different male voices& even heard one of the kids asking about " that boy over there" , which was probably me on the computer playing RuneScape lol

The funeral home that had my parents was small compared to the new one, but before the built the new one, my mom🙄 she wasn't very nice to me, died suddenly and it was SRO standing room only not kidding it was packed with people and she said, not a soul would visit, 🤦🏻‍♀️ she was wrong about that, everyone was caught off guard. My dad was the last person I think that was there. And now a church has that building I wonder if they have any issues with the dearly departed there, and when my 3rd niece was in drug re hab she was literally across the street from the former funeral home, I guess my parents were still keeping an eye on her.

I don’t understand why funeral homes would be haunted. I mean I get that the dead are out there until their actual funeral, but you would think the deceased would more so interested in their own homes or let’s say a more familiar place than a funeral home. I get that a funeral makes for a better story but it’s nothing there but possibly other forms of energy/souls that they have no relationship with or knew in their life. So it’s just a place where a bunch of souls hang out ?? I obviously have my reservations on thinking that a funeral home would be the place to hang out. Kind of boring.
