Highland Park is a neighborhood in Northeast Los Angeles with lots of history. I spent a day visiting a few of my favorite spots and learning their history.
On this trip, we visit Chicken Boy, the “Statue of Liberty of Los Angeles” and learn how he ended up roosting on top of an art studio on Figueroa.
We also drop in on Galco’s Soda Pop Stop to grab some “Blockbusters” and a half dozen sodas and learn how this 125+ year business switched from an Italian Grocery Store to a soda lover’s paradise.
And we visit the Lummis House, a century old building that is as unique as its builder.
Let me know if you like this new type of video format where I visit a few places in a neighborhood or city or if you prefer the old format!
