Blues shuffle for beginners is what we're going over in today's guitar lesson for beginners. Hey guys, Brad Litton from Simple Guitar.com here with another beginner guitar lesson for you where I'm going to give you 3 levels of blues shuffles starting with beginner, then intermediate, & finally advanced. This blues shuffle guitar lesson starts with the very easiest place for beginning blues guitar with an open A shuffle. Then we move into using closed power chords and a basic 12 bar blues guitar lesson to move the easy blues shuffle for beginners all over the fretboard in any key. And finally we get the the advance level where we go over how the old pros can play blues shuffles all night long without their hand dying in the process. Playing the blues so that you can jam with anyone at anytime should be required learning when you're learning how to play guitar no matter what style you play, so I hope this really helps you out!

I have been searching for "power chord blues shuffle" for years, turns out it is Level 3. THANK YOU. That should be its own video. My hands are unable due to pain to do the classic wide finger span used in so many blues and rock songs or anything "Chuck Berry", so I have usually just stayed banging on the basic chord or power chord and hope the bass player will fill in the missing. I KNEW there had to be some other way, but you have been the only guitar teacher to show that. Mind blown.

Great lesson,, that's exactly how an old blues player taught me when I first started 30 years ago, and it all still works. So helpful when first learning,, with that simple technique a beginner with a little practice can start making good blues sounds and get excited to learn more.

Thank you! That shuffle sound is one of my favorites in Rock n roll, and I was heartbroken to find my pinky was too short to make it happen. This has changed playing for me forever, man!

Holy Gibson! I've played a long time, taken a ton of course and do pretty well and I've never seen or heard of the technique you gave in level 3. You've changed my life, thanks so much!

Amen. I've struggled with playing blues shuffles forever. To the point of just avoiding them. The rhythm has never been the issue. It's the hand movement. I feel stupid not having figured out his level 3 technique and pissed that none of my instructors ever showed that to me. I'm grateful that this popped up in my feed.

Wow. I was about to skip this video during lvl1 as learnt all that long ago m. Then see all these comments all with such high praisies of his level 3... which got me curious indeed, though a little sceptical perhaps. But I scrolled through and, hell yeah! No more trying to force my way through those stretchy rhythms or sticking to the key of A haha. So simple when you see it here too, yet so clever.

Nice, video and explanations. I like how you have 3 different levels in one video too, makes for a better lesson than quite a few other videos i watched that only showed the most basic one. This will be fun exercise for my pinky, really dig that little trick/tip at the end too. You got a sub from me.

Hello Brad, so happy to have discovered you. Level one is what we see everywhere but levels2 and especially Level 3 are fantastic + I really will have to know the notes on the fretboard (at least on the E string!) I have also enjoyed your video on the D drop tuning, made me feel like a rock star - as you say- I enjoyed playing with it. THANKS. I just have a question about this blues video: On Level 3, in the beginning, you lift your pinkie and then put your index finger down and later on, you leave your index finger down during the first power chord which seems easier : Is this the best way to do it according to you? My pinkie seems to want to go high in the air, any tip to keep it down? Thanks for the 2 wonderful and helpful videos I mentioned. Freddy from South-West France.
@SimpleGuitarDotCom
@SimpleGuitarDotCom Год назад
It is definitely easier to just leave your first finger down during that. But if you lift it up and put it down it doesn't make a huge difference. A big thing that will help with your pinky wanting to fly around is placing your fingers all down on one string and lifting your pinky to touch the 1st string and 6th string while not moving your other fingers. Hope that helps!

AS I am practising Level 2, I can't understand why you don't use 1,3 and 4, much easier than 1,2 and 4.
@SimpleGuitarDotCom
@SimpleGuitarDotCom Год назад
Really it depends on the player. You can use 1 3 and 4 but for me it's easier to make the bigger stretch between my 1st and 2nd rather than 3 and 4.

I'd say it's required if you have any at all interest in ever playing the blues, or folk music. Or country, rockabilly, rock, metal, horror punk psychobilly, ragtime, bluegrass or jazz. But if you no interest in any of those genres, go ahead and skip it. And frankly, I don't want to be your friend. I'm kidding. I guess I could be friends with a flamenco or classical guitarist.
