@Scotty Kilmer would you happen to remember what dodge models installed the water pumps without weep holes? I just replaced my old 98 dodge ram's water pump- now it has me worried. A mechanic i employed to replace it also replaced a power steering hose that failed within 3 months. Curious about his judgement and whether these "non-weep hole" pumps are possibly offered as generics for repairs?? 😬....just wondering

Another tip, let the engine run for about 30 seconds before driving. Make sure engine oil is circulating and transmission oil. Only takes a few seconds. I seen several people take off and floor it as soon as it starts. And it never hurts to drive slow and easy until everything gets warm.

My rx400H was overheating for 2weeks straight especially in a traffic jam, my hit n run mechanics were giving cock n bull tales. Thank God I stumbled on Scotty's videos and a few others like it... little did I know that the water in the radiator was causing this problem due to its lower boiling point. I instructed & supervised the drained of the water and also did a flush with distilled water. Added the appropriate coolant and my car has driven perfect since then. I'm so grateful for videos like these. Saving us thousands

I got tired of the old plastic radiator falling apart in my vehicle every other year. So I bought an after market aluminum radiator with an extra tank. It has been great! Since it is aluminum, it radiates a lot of heat. The plastic radiators barely radiate any heat at all. They are only warm to the touch. My giant aluminum radiator gets very hot as the heat escapes from it. The fan barely turns on at all. I loved my aluminum radiator

About 10 years we had a 93 Corolla with the big 1.8L engine 🤣 and were going Yosemite national park. On the way there the temp gauge was perfectly fine. 3:30 that is an RX-8 tach. If you don't rev an RX-8, that is when stuff breaks because of the carbon build up. "A redline a day keeps the carbon away" is a common phrase among RX-8 enthusiasts.

@HR-wd6cw
@HR-wd6cw 3 года назад
IDK. I think depending on the age of the vehicle and overall condition of the rest of the vehicle, aftermarket may be considerably cheaper. I know when I had my 97 Civic worked on (from an insurance claim) about 12 years ago they opted to use aftermarket fenders and I couldn't tell the difference, other than the fender didn't have the VIN sticker on the inside of the panel). Of course, the car was 11 years old at the time anyway. ON a modern car, (one made in the last 20 years) you would want to stick with OEM parts most likely but for older vehicles, if you're paying for the repair, you can save quite a bit of money by buying aftermarket. And to be honest, not everything from China is junk. Even Scotty says he has stuff that was made in China that lasted longer than some stuff that was US_made and didn't last more than a few years. It just depends on the item in most cases. What you really don't want to buy from China are critical components like belts and hoses, etc. or even light bulbs. But fenders and body parts aren't going to kill or cause a catastrophic failure while driving.
@SineN0mine3

2 more: follow the speed limit in town. Increase speed by 41% doubles the fuel required and work required. When you see a red light take your foot off the accelerator and coast up. If it turns green before you get to the intersection you prevented a stop and you just have to accelerate to cruising speed.
@timmcshane6635
@timmcshane6635 3 года назад
You can also turn off the engine to save fuel while coasting up to the lights. It only works if you are going to be stopped or the engine is off for 10 to 12 seconds for most cars. It doesn't wear and tear on the engine because it takes a while, much longer than 10 or 12 seconds for the oil to run back down into the engine. Yet it saves fuel if you have a good amount of stop and go traffic and long stop lights. Obviously turn your engine back on as soon as you reach the speed you need to regain your place in traffic!

Scotty I have a 2006 Hyundai tiberion I bought brand new , have 82 K original miles on it , showroom new still , I love her , not a penny into her except regular maintaince parts , but over time she started squealing from rubber bushings Etc drying out I purchased the TP 205 and sprayed every rubber part on the car I could find minus the brake system and lo and behold no more squeals no more squeaks runs again like a dream the day I bought it thank you so much for recommending a product Joe... I'm not a fan of that automatic start/stop engine technology either. No matter what the engineers say, it's common sense that those engines are going to wear faster. They probably do it for a little bit of emissions improvement, I guess.

@brucemorris3830
@brucemorris3830 3 года назад
I heard a great one the other day. Supposedly in very cold weather you ought to, instead of just trying to start an ice cold engine and electrical system? You should put a drain on the battery before you crank the engine to literally warm up the mains wires; just run the high beams for a few seconds to bring the wires up to temperature and the proper resistance & capacitance. I have no idea if it has any basis in reality but it sounded cool anyhow 😂

Scotty you give such great advice on so MANY car topics I'm actually shocked YT hasnt shut you down for some absurd reason. As a gearhead myself I've learned a ton from you since I started watching your channel about one year ago. We just made the decision to skip buying the 2020 Touareg SEL-R because it has a severely under powered 4cyl turbo. Why would they put a weak 4 banger in a mid-size suv, yea i know its cheaper but come on. The veedub is a beautiful suv but we're going with the CX5 GTouring model(non turbo). Turbo'd small engines wear out so much faster.

Hey Scotty...You confirmed what I thought, that new engines that stop and start at every red light are going to take a beating. Has to be incredibly harsh on the starter, so are their starters "super heavy duty" and what are they worth compared to a standard starter?

It could pass as new. Interior is perfect and the ac blows ice cold. Never been in the shop. Only done oil changes, a few brake jobs, and just had to replace the clutch at 130k miles. That's all that's ever been done to it. It's a damn tank.
