I've always found this exercise great not just for improving breathing but for general body awareness and developing a sense of calm. Hope it works for you too!
As a musician and Alexander Technique teacher I just wanted to thank you for sharing these amazing videos. Just what the community needs and perfect way of sharing our work
Awesome upload! Good breathing techniques are really important especially for those struggling with anxiety and panic attacks because they actually work! Well done!
Thanks for your comment! Totally agree. I've also got another video with other ideas for how Alexander Technique can help with anxiety if anyone is interested in that area: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--_Ds2CXn_GM.html
Hi! Such a great video! How can I book a online lesson with you? My breathing is shallow and I dont feel relaxed in my body. I always struggled to take deep breaths when I sing. Can you help me?
Hi! Thanks, glad you found the video useful! It's definitely best to get a face-to-face Alexander lesson (if you have a good local teacher) but I am also happy to do an online lesson if you prefer! If so, drop me an email and we'll get it set up: pete@movementandposture.com
Which link is the down load for breathing. I am over- whelmed, at the work in me in just breathing and releasing abs, maybe just this with help, the Pete the intro on all your tips are long. But it hard to consecrate with pain existing, so my thinking takes over!!
If you look in the description for the video, you will see a time stamp link to the talk through. The download is available via the link to my website too. Should be clearly labelled
Should I do this lying down,at this time in my life , I need help or tips releasing tension in my body, I could not help it even with your easier standing video?
Most people find the lying down one the easiest to find more release but for some people laying down can be very uncomfortable. If that's the case then use the sitting and standing videos. Also try any of the other videos about posture etc. Different explanations work for different people so I try to vary how I guided people in each video. Hope you find ideas that are most effective for you.
There are quite a few good Alexander Technique breathing exercises. I'll definitely be making some more videos about those and also some more focussed on using the voice.
