Underrated Metallica songs - does it make any sense? Even their least popular tunes get more views and listens than most of other metal stuff. And rated by whom: the fans, the band, the critics? So, here's my own top-3 most underrated Metallica songs that deserve more recognition for some reason.

I don't think Bleeding Me is so underrated, because whenever people do mention stuff from Load they always say they like Bleeding Me. And The Unnamed Feeling is one of the more popular songs off off St. Anger. I agree with the rest, though.

The Outlaw Torn is my favorite Metallica song PERIOD. In just my opinion, Metallica's songwriting skills were at peak in the 90s. Maybe not as heavy or thrashy...but I just love the soul writing on Load and Reload....also Lar's best drumming work that didn't require cut and paste editing.

Andriy Vasylenko thanks for replying, I really feel that death magnetic is very underrated, I hear people say that “oh yea I like hardwired it’s there first thrash album since and justice for all.” And I’m like well I mean... there’s death magnetic that kicks ass I really feel that was a good return to there awesome thrash sound. With songs like Judas Kiss, that was just your life, all nightmare long, my apocalypse and my favorite from the album the kickass suicide and redemption and some more really good songs, I just think it’s a bit underrated.

Where the Wild Things Are is in my opinion the most underrated song by Metallica. I love how it has some much feel and that it has a lot of emotion. Especially in the lyrics. And the structure of the song is really unique. They have to play it live!

I absolutely agree with you on the comments of St Anger, that's why I started to like it: the band exposed all their feelings on the album Also, my top 3 would be: 1- Ronnie: I love this song and that "bang bang" feeling on lyrics 2- The God That Failed: They should play it live more often, one of the best bass lines that Jason has ever written (only losing to My Friend of Misery), amazing riffs and very emotional lyrics 3- Trapped Under Ice: Common, it's thrash at its finest and they played only 2 or 3 times live!

I’d say Unforgiven II. I know it’s in their top 10 viewed music videos, but I think it’s still under appreciated. The storytelling and the metaphors/ lyrics are so hard hitting as well as the ending with the “I take this key and I bury it in you, because your Unforgiven too”. So good and the instrumentation is very good with an amazing solo and Main riff

The band tries to argue that they didn't pick the best songs for LOAD, and then give Re-LOAD the leftovers, but, that's what it seems like. LOAD has more singles, more songs they continue to play live (track to track, Fuel is the exception), and more songs that are popular with fans. LOAD is my personal favorite Metallica album. LOAD: Best Re-LOAD: Rest That being said, Re-LOAD isn't _bad_; it just isn't as good as LOAD. There are some gems like Slither and Where the Wild Things Are (probably my personal favorite), and Fixxxer. Re' has one of the Unforgivens on it. And, of course, Fuel (Happy Belated Fuel For Fire Day). Re-LOAD, Re-love.

I agree with you about these songs - there are so many really good songs that a lot of fans hate that I love so much, mostly because of how personal they are or how emotional they are, but also some composition elements as well. I really appreciate the analysis and research you do on this stuff

Load and Reload are both underrated albums. I even like St Anger. Yes granted non of those albums are there best ones. But they still are good solid albums. People just hate on them since its not the style of the early days and even the style that the Black Album had. Some people hate that album to. Metallicas fambase is 😲. So many different types of fans its surreal

The Call of Ktulu bass part is so gnarly and evil I can't help but watch your bass cover of it to hear it in all of its glory. Certainly one of the most underrated songs from Metallica, I hope I can see them play it live one day

The Shortest Straw. How i always love that off beat fragmented intro, tempo changes, the riffs of course, the carefully upbuilding in between drum fills just before the chorusses, the double bassing, and that sick solo.

Почти полторы сотни комментов, и ни одного (НИ ОДНОГО!) коммента с упоминанием The Unforgiven II. Достойнейшее продолжение первой части - те же аккорды, но в другой аранжировке, отличнейшие вокальные партии, божественная концовка и т.д., а вживую исполняли всего один раз. Вот уж точно андэрэйтид так андэрэйтид. Очень обидно. Как и за Fixxxer, кстати, тут ты в точку попал. P.S. Мне вот ещё Ronnie с Load неплохо вставляет - её, как мне помнится, тоже концертным вниманием очень сильно обделяют.

My 3 most underrated song: -Suicide and Redemtion: SO many great riffs, yet none of them recognized enough. -Phantom Lord: By the fans? praised as one of the best from Kill. From Metallica? Not really, since its played really rarely All Within My Hand: Skull crushing riffs, simple, but cachy lyrics, and a lot of hate from the fanbase. (sadly) It needs much more recognition what it has now.

I personally like Ride The Lightning the most among all Metallica song and I think it's underrated. So much power in this song, lyrics, riffs, the bass line(of course since I'm a bassist LOL). What blows me off is that Kirk's solo: you can literally feel the anxiety of the guy to be put on chair, and the second part of the solo is actually sound like electricity going through the body of the guy and he was shaking... What a beautiful masterpiece.
