Ichiju sansai tableware would be really nice! I’m in America and while my local Asian grocery stores do sell tableware, I’m not always sure which are rice bowls or soup bowls, which bowls are meant for child portions versus adult portions, and they don’t always sell plates that look the right size for side dishes. Having a curated set like that would be really nice to see and would make it easier to follow along!
@MiwasJapaneseCooking

What's funny is that I've never realized Japanese naturally do portion control by using these bowls and plates every day until I saw some of the comments similar to what you shared here. Always learning from you. I would love to help with your cooking and portion control, especially if you have kids. I really understand how you feel.

Thank you for these soup recipe ideas, I always enjoy cooking from your recipes. I wanted to suggest you could offer a seasonal gift box that includes recipe cards (instead of an entire book), small gifts and stationary from local artisans, food-related items such as utensils or flavoring packets or candies, etc for the fall/winter and then spring/summer. That would make for continued interest in supporting your work because the contents would change over time and people would look forward to the next box. It would require a lot of planning to put together, but the idea is pretty popular among small businesses here, so that's something to consider!

Dear Miwa sun ☀️ About frozen vegetables. when vegetables are shock-frosted like the ones from supermarket, the nutrients and good stuff inside are kept. So it's very convenient and still healthy as well. with warm regards from Germany 🙏
@Ahiku
@Ahiku 6 месяцев назад
Fellow German person here. :D I like frozen veggies a lot, and I've read that they are sometimes even healthier than fresh veggies. They tend to lose nutrients over time (like, when they are lying around at the supermarket, or you keep them in the fridge for a while). That's when frozen veggies are even healthier, since they are frozen right after the harvest at the nutrient peak. I also love them because I live alone and with frozen veggies, and can have a big variety of veggies at hand at all time, even when I just want to make a single meal for myself or when I'm too tired XD There are no excuses when you have prepped, frozen veggies at hand. XD So convenient. I also really like to freeze green onions.

Miwa, The way you plate and present your meals are so incredibly attractive. It is one of the reasons I started watching your channel and joined your cooking school & club. What a great idea to offer a set of everyday table ware that would assist home cooks to set their table in the Ichiju Sansai way. I also the love the woven mat you use that completes the look. Another idea if it were ever possible would be to publish a cookbook. This would be a great way to help more people empower their lives with your style of Japanese cooking. It could reach a different audience in addition to You Tube viewers. There are many Japanese cookbook available, but not one that encompasses ALL you have to offer 👩‍🍳💌😍😋

I do meal prep almost every night after work so I can get a jump start when I wake up. I'll be tired and chopping veggies, cooking rice and making dashi until 1am. Then when I wake up, I only need to deal with meat and the actual cooking. Most mornings it's just miso and tea. Meal prep lasts at least 2 days for 2 of us, so it's really only a couple nights a week that I have to do it.

Hello Miwa-san…..I think a lovely set of bowls, plates and matching dishes with pretty design would be great, knives and some Japanese kitchen items. Also I love blue and white dishes so if you could have that as an option as well. When I lived in Japan I got many blue and white rice bowls and ramen bowls, I love them! But many have broken over the years. Also, those stovetop ceramic/clay pots you use for hot pots would be nice
@celticlass8573
@celticlass8573 6 месяцев назад
Yes, definitely the bowls, and yes, definitely the knives. I would add also soft wood cutting boards for use with those knives (if they're the ones from your previous video), because I understand you need to use those kinds of cutting boards, and at least here, it's *impossible* to find. I looked. And looked and looked! All cutting boards here are hardwood. Shipping cutting boards might be a bit expensive, but if it's the only option, I think people (like me) would do it I would also think more about things that are related to what your channel is about, and see about offering them too. If you're leaning toward a sort of marketplace with local specialty craftspeople and vendors, you're offering 1) quality products 2) authentic products, 3) products you can't get anywhere else, and 4) products with tradition/history, all of which are very appealing to a lot of people. Soy sauce--if someone is new to Japanese cooking, or Asian cooking in general, chances are they think all soy sauce is the same, because they've only been exposed to one kind (and probably a cheap kind). But there are SO MANY kinds for so many uses with different tastes, not even including the ones that are infused with something else. If there are small traditional companies making that, that would be great to include, and really fun to cook with! Dashi--same thing for this as for soy sauce, there's SO MANY kinds of dashi out there to explore, they I think would be great to include if you can find ones that fit with your vision. Suribachi mortar and pestle (is that what it's called? The bowl you always use to grind stuff)--you can find them online, but it's hard to know which ones are quality, and probably not traditional in any way. If you sold one of those, I know I'd buy one for sure. The earthenware (?) pot you use for cooking and serving things like soups (donabe?)--I love that thing! I want that thing! A couple of sizes available (say, 2 person and 4 person or whatever). Something like that made by craftsmen yes please!

Wow! So many new ideas!!! Thank you so much!! Cutting board! I've never thought of this! Your comment made me realize how unique Japanese cutting boards are! I use it every day, so I never thought of its uniqueness, but YES! That's one thing I can't live without! I just copied your comment to my notebook, so that I won't forget! Thank you always for being with me. Your comments mean a lot to me, especially as I'm starting something new. I feel I'm not alone

I miss those frozen vegetable mix bags they have in Japan; here most all have bell peper in them. no one in my family likes those (I don't like the texture of the frozen ones). My go to lateky has been an egg soup inspired by oyakodon. I make the broth for that with kombu dashiconcentrate, so that with water and make it on the strong side, and add some mirrin and/or soy sauce. That's teh soup base. I usually just add beaten eggs and let them firm up a bit, sometimes I put frozen gyoza in it. but you could add different vegetables, tofu or seeweed. top with green onions and shichimi togarashi. easy and quick and delicious. I think your business ideas are good, but perhaps also think of things like an apron or a dish closh. Cooking utensils I have a lt of dishes but can always use wooded cooking utensils for example :) Or if that is possible work with a food company to do a collaboration brand for dashi or something.

Tableware is a good idea, as are Japanese knives. For people who cannot spend much money, how about something like cooking chopsticks or other specialty Japanese cooking utensils? In the US, if I want cooking chopsticks I have to go to a huge Asian grocery store and try to figure out which ones are really best. If there was a choice that Miwa supported, I would feel more confident with my purchase.

Is there a product you make at home that could be sold? Like a sauce or spice blend. Tableware and knives are a good idea, but wondering how sustainable that is. Thinking of a service or product that would need to be continually purchased or updated. You’re so knowledgeable. What about classes or “retreat” style courses?

I love your idea for the japanese tableware. Also since you want to promote traditional japanese food and also have a personal journey in gut and skinhealth, I think different themed giftboxes for example for guthealth you can put all kinds of japanese fermented ingredients like nattostarter, shio koji, shoyu koji, amazake and misopaste. or themed giftboxes according to the 4 seasons where you can put like springblossom themed tableware with recipecards and ingredients that are often used in spring, or packs of hotpot seasonings and other winterthemed stuff for the winterbox etc. Also check out kawashimaya and see if you can get a partnership with them. I think the theme of your channel fits so well with what they offer in products. Looking forward to the growth of your channel and business =)

I have same mix of frozen vegetables "just in case"(I need it). And I have same doubts as you, because it is believed, at least in Traditional Chinese Medicine for example, that frozen food looses its energy. But this is a statement that was not (as far as I know) confirmed by science yet. Still I think it is better to use some frozen, but good quality food then fresh, but of bad quality. And if you take frozen food as a part of a meal, it shouldn' t be a problem, problem starts when you eat everything frozen.
