I think this "Paint Roulette" thing is an incredibly idea. It allows you to explore paint mixing and blending, and a variety of techniques, more than regular minis and paint schemes, where you have all the paints you want. It breeds creativity, and gives (me at least) more to learn from your videos.

@@uthmanetn7855 The overall idea of rolling a die was done by Brent, but Jon is doing it differently enough with how he's already got the mini picked & is rolling totally random unique colors from different racks VS how Brent picks a random mini & then rolls for an overall color (red, blue, yellow, etc) and then picks his unique choice of paint based on the colors rolled.

Agreed 100% percent. Big fan of limiting the amount of paints to use in a paint job in general but randoming the colours forces you to think even harder and come up with cool spontaneous ideas, that you might never have to come up with if you were able to just choose all the colours you wanted.

Amazing! Definitely keep doing this, and take over the lore pages! I submit this chapter as “Aeris Dracones” - the Copper Dragons. The colour scheme reminds me of the oxidised patina of aged copper, and the word “Aeris” has a dual meaning of air/copper depending on context, so we could have a sweet Raven Guard or Salamanders successor here

Chapter Name: Thorns Respite. Lore: Guardians of overgrown chapter temples on a deeply shrouded and traditional planet. Sworn protectors of natural environments, and using combat tactics that display calm harmonies of peace and disciplined brutality. Make their symbol like a lotus flower with thorns on the stem.

With the shared Blue pigment in the Purple and Green paints I have this feeling like has some sort of Aquatic reference. The copper also reminds me of old-school Diving helmets and equipment. Sons of the Deep or Reef Walkers: A Fleet-Based chapter that coasts around some segmentum looking for prey.

I....I actually love this scheme. Looks kinda like jade armor and gives that eastern feel to it. I like the idea of it being something with Grey Slayers or such, though trying to incorporate a Guardian could be good, I get some guardian vibes from him. Seriously though, this might be my favorite color scheme I've seen for Space Marines. Like, I think I'm gonna do Jade Custodes now when I get them for Kill team. Freaking rand and inspirational. I would love to see this idea again, maybe dealing more in the start with planning out where you're gonna put the colors? That may help people watching try something like it on their own and rolls into general painting too. :) I vote T'au for the next roulette. :P

As for a name, I like “the twilight wardens” the paint scheme really reminds me of really early mornings or really late evenings when the light hasn’t really reached or left everything quite yet. They could be a Imperial Fists successor chapter that inhabits far off worlds as an “occupying” force after battles

I really love this idea, it would definitely be interesting to see you do this for every model and see what all happens, not just Space Marines, could have some really unique models! As for the naming, I'm bad as well but the white of the plum and that deep green really gave me kind of a snowy forest vibe, so something like The Frozen Branch of the Emperium, or Sons of the Wooded Tundra, something like those

Hydrange Deranged Marines? Hydrangeas can be that like purple all the way to blue (even pink, just depends on the pH of the soil). So then you could have slightly different shades and it still work out.

I think you found their name yourself: The Spacecapaders. A chapter of spacemarines who send initiates out on space escapades. During this time they have to do something epic before they return with their tale and each chooses their own color scheme based on the adventure they had. No one space escaped is the same so no spacecapader has the same armor. Also, please take the randomness to the next level. How about pulling out basing bits box and randomly rolling for the environment, or some other feature that gives some background or sense or lore to the model. You could also pick out a few techniques (NNM, grim dark, stippling, super smooth blending, cartoon/cell shade, etc) to be the main technique on the model.

Really reminds me of "The Phantom" has a bit of a foresty vibe especially with the shrooms/leaves you did with the artis opus promotion. Chapter name "Phantoms" but for a video name id suggest doing something with more vibrant colours ie nagaroth night to genestealer & leprercal warboss green and a full range of metallic & washes to see how far you could push the concept, perhaps also chose a chapter logo (a nice skull is never a bad idea). Loved the vid and would love to see more dice roll concepts :)

I'd call them the Dawn Vipers, the lavender highlights on the dark green shadow remind me of how the light interacts with the vegetation early in the morning after it has rained. Definitely looks like a salamanders successor to me, thus the "vipers" name. Always needs to be something scaly and reptilian. They come from an enormous planet where the sun only reaches an incredibly small portion of the planet every day, meaning that the inhabitants must constantly travel around the planet as nomads who chase the sun constantly to survive, as the rest of the planet's surface becomes dangerously cold. Because of this, I'd say they would lean heavily into fast vehicles and melee units.

Here are my ideas for chapter names… Sons of Tarvitz Rylanor’s Creed Fate Saves Bacchus Legion (Dionysus Crusade?) Former Emperor’s Children who stayed loyalist after HH, have been Blackshielded ever since. Now are coming out of the shadows have been apostate for longer than they care to tell anyone. Definitely ‘loyalist’ but still EC’s in their search for martial perfection. I'm Dyslexic to apologies in advance for spelling and grammatical errors. The Knights of Strig. A successor to the Raven guard. Famed for there ability to traverse the dense coniferous forests of their home worlds in near silane. The Knights on Strig prefer to observe there foes from afar, To identify vulnerabilities and vital targets before striking. When the time for an assault comes they advance upon their target in silence almost always under the cover of darkness. Closing to melee range where they can overwhelm there foe with martial prowess and shier ferocity. Having stuck a devastating blow to the enemies command or supple infrastructure they will withdraw and wait and watch for another vulnerable target. Even the most tenacious of foe would bleed to death after suffering repeated hut and run attacks like this. A slow and painful death fit for the enemies of the Emperor.

Pale Dawn, successor chapter to Dark Angels. Condemned to follow the fallen into the warp. Survived after killing the fallen in a warp battle. Armour eroded by warp storm exposure. Separated from their brothers out of fear of chaos taint but also heralded as hero's.

Stellar paint job as usual! For the chapter name I feel obligated to include the name of one of the paints that got us here, and as much as I want to call a chapter "The Plum Boys" I feel like "Woodland's Scourge" sounded too good. Lore: Woodland's Scourge was formed by a commander from a barbaric planet rose through the ranks, he has seen what so called order has done to the galaxy and its beauty and has decided to take action against those who have destroyed or will destroy nature's beauty. Maybe they have something fun where they view orks as just part of beautiful nature so their squardrens have the rare ork member, who've they've slapped in armor? Don't think the poor ork would last long, just something silly to make them stand out a little.

Amazing work that, reminded me of that electroluminescent / chameleon / chromaflaire paint seen on boy racer cars. Really nice job that! Easiest sub from a recommend video ever! Also do more of these episodes! Tongue in cheek: the Edge Lords - cos thats what i think when i see people with chroma paint, exhaust mods etc revving engines 🤣 Slightly serious name: Emperor's Light bearers. - more of an inquisition chapter, purging the heretics represented On the armour by the "pure light of the God Emperor" luminating the pungency of heretic green 🤷

The Emerald Lotus Chapter - Known for their ranks being pulled from the nobility of hive worlds. This chapter is made from the "rejects" of their noble families. Some are sent to the chapter to assure inheritances, others are sent to asylum themselves from rival families.

I'm not the first to say it but I want Jon to actually see this comment and nesting it under comments where he's already been is less likely to work, I think. I second the Grey Slayers, and here's why: I think, with the colors we got to come out the way they did, with the sort of muted look to it even with a lilac and a green and an orange-brown, the name is fitting, maybe even fated. Here's my lore idea. The Grey Slayers were Dark Angels successors (or Salamanders successors, maybe) who encountered a very odd warp entity. It eluded them constantly in battle, inflicting minimal if any casualties, or so it seemed. However with each blow struck, with each battle fought as they hunted this monstrosity, their vibrant armor colors were gradually leeched away until they were no longer recognizable as they once were, only dulled hints of their original palette remaining in the deepest recesses of their gear. Their armor cannot be repainted, and any new armor they forge or requisition is desaturated and leeched grey the second it enters their possession. Stripped of their identity and former glory, they are now the Grey Slayers. Only by hunting down the escaped warp entity can they hope to reclaim their former colors, and they pursue the merest whispers of its presence with relentless, obsessive fury...

this is a good looking chapter. i like your idea of making up lore for them! i agree with "sons of the deep" personally. I have my own custom chapter too called Chapter Ragnarok, of which ill probably have to change up the color scheme of slightly as they are too close to the fleshtearers rn.

The three paint roulette was really cool. Love to see it used for a bunch of different models! For a name, maybe Deep Stalkers? Idk the colors give me a deep ocean vibe. Some aquatic but dark feels right in name. Are you making a 1k list for this scheme to play with?

This scheme kinda looks like a more washed-out, ghostly (and purple) version of the Night Lords' scheme to me. Maybe this guy could be part of a Night Lords warband? How about Haunt of Ceras? It fits the ghostly look, and cerasifera is the genus name of purple plums. In my head, Ceras would have been some mid-ranking but charismatic officer in the Night Lords before the Horus Heresy. While on mission with a squad of Night Lords, and a squad of Ultramarines assisting, to eliminate a Genestealer Cult from a hiveworld, an Ultramarine accidentally shot and killed Ceras. This led, after the Heresy, to the forming of the Haunt of Ceras, where the squad he led take revenge by assassinating Ultramarine leaders. Tactically, Haunt of Ceras would be more of a stealth-based warband, sneaking into places and assassinating key targets before detection. They would then capitalise on the disarray when the body is discovered to then eliminate as many Ultramarines as possible before escaping.
