Im not sure if he noticed, but in the first game, it says that one of the victims was his pregnant neighbor. He lives at the end of the hall, so he only has one neighbor "next door" So the woman who made the initial phone call reporting that she heard something was one of the victims, it was her ghost calling
Well it is an apartment building so even if he lives in the corner he still have neighbor next door and then neighbor on the opposite side of the hall, but technically speaking we could also include neighbors below and above his apartment as well.. But I like your explanation tbh
My favourite part about these horror compilations is that it obscures the length of each game. There's no telling when a game will suddenly end so you're on the edge of your seat the whole time.

For the first game... I think whatever was jumpscaring you was showing you the way to get out of there in time, I think it was a spirit of one of the victims and I think she was the one that called the phone to warn you that HE was coming.
In the second game, there's something very funny about the fact that the serial killer makes a point to say they don't condone the action of spiking drinks, but, y'know, see no problem with killing their wife's dog because it was barking too much and straight up murdering her and her sister
Everyone does in fact have standards. Some people just don't have *APPROPRIATE* standards... I've been doing a destructive-cult-focused true crime binge lately, and something weird I've noticed is that when the cult leaders aren't utterly depraved, they have very, VERY strange priorities on their standards for personal behavior, and get offended when they get accused of doing something they feel is below them behaviorally. Even if it's something ridiculous like being indignant at the idea of forging a signature, when they're otherwise guilty of severe violent crimes and see nothing wrong with them. EDIT: clarified punctuation. my current true crime binge has been focused on destructive cults. it is not yet a self-destructive binge.
Recording bodycams to tape would be possible iirc, there were toy camcorders in the 80's that recorded video to music cassettes so i imagine it's not that far fetched for police to have bodycams that used tape. whether or not they actually used them idk
Just started the video, but already I’m really enjoying in the first game now the flashlight moves slightly ahead of the camera. Gives an effect like somebody actually is looking with the light but then turning the camera just ever so behind the light to capture what they’ve already seen.
So you’re a cop who enters unannounced. Doesn’t have a gun or radio. And is told to hide when your job is to confront. Kinda a weird narrative on that one lol🧐

'You and the Night' should have cut out the hotel bit and entirely focused on the 'misty countryside' aesthetic, because that is where its true strength lies. If it was an exploration, open world game rather than a linear set of tasks in a confined location, I think it would have been a much tighter and focused experience.
I always get annoyed when games that are building up a realistic threat, like a serial killer, home invader, etc, suddenly take a supernatural route. It ALWAYS pulls me out of it.
You should play Quake on this channel. For an FPS, it is very atmospheric. It can also be considered as the earliest horror shooter. It's also one of like 3 games I've seen or played that has a Gothic art style. I would recommend DUSK and AMID EVIL, but DUSK is too action-oriented for what your channel is about and AMID EVIL isn't creepy enough. You should still play them, just in your spare time instead of for the channel.
Quake was originally released in 1996. It got a remaster in 2021, which costs $10. The remaster also comes with the original release of the game and its expansions that can be launched separately from the remaster. If you play the remaster, turn off interpolation, texture smoothing, antialiasing, fog, ambient occlusion, and depth of field. Turn on view bob, set HUD to standard or full and open the console with the "~" key and enter the following commands: r_renderwaterviewfx 0 r_staticshadows 0 cl_backspeed 400 The remaster looks and plays best when using these settings.
Quake has an absolutely killer atmosphere but I’m not sure if it fits the Librarian to be honest. I’m not sure what he could comment on, I feel like it would be too fast paced and hectic for him to slow down and talk about the spooky bits
