Could be the sharks are starving hungry due to overfishing, like in the Red sea. Humans just have to eat fresh wild seafood., even when they have lots of options. Americans consume so much protein. It’s falling off the shelves in the stores. No one needs that much food. It’s addiction, like a healthy dog you should see ribs
@terrell07981
@terrell07981 Месяц назад
@@vincentdow5899 one reason sharks have been coming so close to shore is because a law was passed prohibiting people from catching bait fish close to shore. Now bait fish crowd the beach and it brings in the big fish and sharks. Not exactly sure if that law is still in effect today but it was not long ago.

Ive been living in Florida for over 30 years. It’s not worth going out to the sand bars off the beach. Those sand bars have whole food chains in action and the top of the food chain is always there. Reef sharks, Lemon Sharks, Black tips, Bulls, tigers and great whites. Most of the time, the sand bar is too far out to hear anyone yelling for You to get out of the water. There was a hurricane spinning off the coast that was stationary for a few days generating huge waves, it was epic. The whole day I surfed the ocean was churned up and there were mullet everywhere with the smell of fish in the air while seeing thousands of mullet as your duck diving into a wave. While there are many species of sharks along our coast, Bulls and Tigers (mostly Bulls) are the scariest IMO. It could be worse. Sharks could actually love the taste of us. Seems like they bite and back off for the most part. And if people die from a shark attack it's because they've hit a major artery. Fun fact: Maui officials rarely if ever release information about shark attacks or shark fatalities that happen off the shore of their Island because they're afraid it will affect tourism.
@peanutboxes4076

"Shark attacks in the Gulf are rare." Apparently except this Summer. I think that SharksHappen is creating probably the greatest database of shark attack data points so far (scientific (to the extent that reports can be), thorough, etc.). BUT, what I don't see tracked is the relationship between shark attacks and why the sharks are there; For example: Prey fish migratory patterns (yes it can be extrapolated, but not necessarily right there in the files), bait fishing with chum numbers (difficult to get, but you could look at companies doing it and begin to track where they like to go), etc. Why are the sharks there in the first place? What causes them to approach where people are? I bet chumming the waters for sight-seeing and fishing in the Gulf would be a big culprit if correlated, but I don't know...just a guess.

@@govtom4 Actually, Hal states outright that sharks know exactly what they are doing. Great Whites will be seen 'spy hopping' to target onto prey. They'll pick an item (be it a person, seal, whatever), then go for it, ignoring everyone else around them except for the target. And, I agree; They do know what they are doing. It's not wrong, from the sharks' perspective, they are just doing what they need to do to survive. But, they definitely have a plan when they attack (this is barring any provoked attacks or accidental disruption in the sharks' environment)

Humans are over fishing with massive trawlers, so sharks have to come into shallower waters to hunt for food, and unfortunately that’s where people are swimming. And I’m sure that for a hungry shark, meat is meat and it’s not going to care what kind of meat it is.

I was free diving off the beach on East coast of FL June 7th. I have had a fear of sharks since an encounter with curious lemon shark last summer. But a rare event happened to my son and I in the keys last week a 6 foot nurse shark approached us head on from 20 foot and came right up to us. Then once aprox. a foot below us started spinning playfully and swam back down. I wasn’t spooked bc I see nurse sharks all the time and they are not aggressive. It was an amazing experience but definitely made me think what was up with the shark as they usually just swim below you and mind their business. People say never go in the ocean and blah blah. I feel these attacks happen bc these are swimmers and if you have a mask and can make eye contact with the sharks you can prevent this but my knowledge on shark behavior wasn’t known until I started free diving. I feel swimmers are just sitting bait for sharks. I love the ocean and wont let these incidents scare me out as I could pass away in a car accident or lightning strike. You can’t stop living bc of this only learn. I have a sharktivity app is really good can track them. But even though that same day I was free diving on opposite coast amazing to think three people were being attacked. Hope they all make good recovery.
