And definitely not on the top of that food chain either….. I live in Eastern NC, going to the NC beaches all my life even living near the coast for 5yrs. I do not remember hearing about shark attacks back in the 80s & 90s like now. We were lucky because we would go into the water near fishing piers, going into the water as soon as we could which was usually around 9am-10am and playing in the water all day. Then the older I got I stupidly went into the water at night on several occasions (I will say I did not see the movie Jaws till the early 2000’s, I was a scared of horror movies and since Jaws feel in the category I never did see the movie till I was in my late 20s. If I saw Jaws in the 80s, I would had never went into the water. After watching Jaws and all the shark attacks, when I would go to the beach I would not go any deeper than knee deep. That has changed since I saw the video of a rather large shark, I think the person who recorded the video suspected it was possibly a bull shark going after a turtle that swam to shore. I was amazed how shallow the water was that the shark swam into…… I doubt I will be going into the ocean again, I can enjoy the water from the beach and wherever I stay when vacationing at a beach will have a pool. That is the only water I will be entering when vacationing at the beach…..

Can we plz have a video that doesn’t insult our intelligence on this “sharks can’t tell the difference between seals, sea lions or a human being?” I apologize if this sounds rude, and I love all shark channels…….but experts CANNOT keep talking out both sides of their mouth on this subject. They tell us that sharks are evolutions most success story! They say they have needed to change very little to thrive, and are a perfect sensory machine. Then out the other end of the experts mouth they want to say that a sharks senses often fail them and they can’t decipher between a seal or a human (diver/suffer with board). It’s absolutely ridiculous to think that a shark doesn’t have the capacity with his senses to know what the heck he’s attacking. I think a MUCH better explanation for many of these attacks are not “mistaken identity….so the shark just left after attack” but instead TERRITORIAL attacks. We are on a sharks menu, so he may eat some parts of a body, but he may attack and leave because it was a territorial attack.

As humans, I don't believe sharks mistake us for 'food' when they attack. We ARE food. Why wouldn't we be? And we're plentiful in their environment, swimming around, enjoying the water...they communicate with one another, which is why shark attacks seem to be increasing. They KNOW there's a buffet near shore! We are meat, and that's what they want/need. The Popov video is one of the most gut-wrenching things I've ever watched. Absolutely heartbreaking. I agree completely, in fact I'll take it a step further @ say that since sharks can feel the electro magnetic fields from our bodies, including being able to hear ( sense ) our heart beats, our smell, the way we move in the water @ the taste/ smell of human blood versus fish blood etc. I sincerely believe that sharks know exactly what they are hunting/ attacking. Yes, they're are territorial attacks but that's to drive something away, not consume it. After the 1st bite of they come back for a 2nd bite, the human has become the meal, and what a fine meal we make! Pretty much helpless in the water, we have neither tooth nor claw @ after one hour are usually injured to the point that our swimming is compromised. We are a floating meat bag, almost like bait. I think feeding sharks is one of the most stupid things humans have ever done as just like with crocs @ gators @ other top predators, it conditions them to expect food from humans. Bottom line, we are at their mercy @ in case nobody's noticed... they have none.

The person who went to rescue Tod Gendle was incredibly stupid. If it's the case I am thinking of, he tried to take the shark out after the attack and put his own safety in danger. The Stella Berry one was also strange. They were saying for a while that it could have been a Tiger. Someone I know who lived in that area for a while before moving over here to Queensland said he suspects it more likely be a bull. In all this though, we still kill millions of sharks a year. If you enter the water, you know the risk. You can't put an end to a shark because you entered their domain and got attacked. You're more likely to be killed going outside your own house.

I agree. If they can smell one drop of blood in the water, they can smell that humans are different from fish or seals.

It is their home. And although I am very afraid of sharks, I love them And have the highest respect of those predators.

Hahaha you said on the second story “as the man appeared to bite the shark”! With that much trauma to his helmet as well as his machine Mr barria obviously hit something. Sometimes you see these huge trees on the beach that have washed up. He could’ve hit something like that at an extreme speed and then the tide carry’s the tree back out. Cause an atv caught in the surf wouldn’t do that much damage. If his helmet was messed up that bad I seriously doubt he could’ve taken it off! But as much damage as that machine has it looks like it was thrown off a cliff and hit every rock on the way down!
