#1 no contact/create some space for a period of time ex. 2 weeks #2 don't jump to your old habit of communication/be casual and rebuild the connection gradually #3 conversation about transition from long distance relationship to regular relationship. Set a realistic date when the long distance will end, how it is going to be done, who will move closer to the partner. This is a drastic change, but in my opinion this should be talked throughout at the beginning, to save each other heartbreak in the future.

The best thing one can do after being dumped in a LDR is go away, work on yourself, and move on.
