If I watched the hand combination clip 1 time, rewinded it back 25 times, but only understood 50% of what you said 2.75 times and fully understood what you said 3.55 times, how many times did I actually watch the hand combination clip?

Hey JL. Thx for the content. Always appreciated. I have a question, though. Most people who play the micro or small stakes games use primarily a linear betting strategy (i.e. they bet when they have a good hand, fold when they don't). How can 3-bet bluffing with the bottom part of a polarized range be a positive EV play, especially since most people are very adverse to folding when they have a pair or better?
@joshbrucks
@joshbrucks 3 года назад
@@dylanhom58 in small stakes people way overvalue 3 bet hands and will fold monsters assuming you must have jj or better because they only 3 bet that strong.
@geniusmode1219
@geniusmode1219 Год назад
Why wouldn’t you go all in after the turn because the river could kill your hand. what if the river card was a 10 would you have folded the hand? Isn’t it better to win a small amount when you have pretty much the nuts than trying to value bet and being out drawn and losing?

Hey Jon. Love your content but we're getting contradictory info from you re. 20BB or less strategy. Have you changed your position since March cos your later vids talk about min raise preferable to going allin, esp from EP, with 20BB or less.

Thank you for your content Jonathan! In your example with AK in the big blind, where we 3bet against villans raise from the cutoff. We are still shoving the river even though he could have 55, 22, and 99?

If you are playing against someone who is shallow but you are deep should you still be using a linear 3 bet range or because you are effectively playing a shallow stack should you now switch to a polarised range?
@PokerCoaching
@PokerCoaching 4 года назад
The effective stack size is all that matters. So, if one of you is shallow, 3bet as if you are shallow.

Jonathan. In a $1-3 game. The main villains are 200+ bb's deep ($600+) EarlyPosition2 open raises to $15(standard 10,15). I have '99' in the CutOff I am NOT confident that the BigBlind will fold. Can I "min raise" employing my "polar range" with 99 (or anything else in the range) to $30 which may get the button and blinds to fold, while maybe confusing EP2. If the Button & Blinds fold, and EP2 4-bets, I can call IN POSITION. What do you think? Thanks.

Jonathan. In a $2-5 game where the players are on nitty side when someone 4-bets (deep stacks >200bb) your linear range which portion of it do you call? You seem to imply all of it? Even KTsuited, QTsuited, aren't they dominated?

Folding those hands is probably fine if your opponent's range is actually super strong and contains few/no bluffs.

If you three-bet a man, he is going to call 100% of the time with 100% of the hands that he raised. The problem is, he limps almost all his hands, so when he does raise, it's exactly QQ-KK. He would slowplay AA by limping it, and he would limp AK "because it's not a made hand." So, when you 3-bet, you're against QQ or KK, and if you c-bet, he will call, because he puts you on ace-king, which missed. Now if the flop is ace-high, he might call one flop bet but then tank-fold after staring you down for ten minutes on the turn. If you triple-barrel a blank board, he will be unhappy because he knows that you could have aces, but he will deal with this problem by talking a lot, pump faking, hemming and hawing, etc., so that he does not look stupid if you show him aces, but he is still definitely calling. Then, afterwards, if you did have the aces, he can ask the table for sympathy and talk about how there was nothing he could do. But, if you 3-bet him with QJo, then your triple-barrel with your gutshot is going to make him look like a GENIUS. This old man will show that he saw straight through you, whippersnapper.
@PokerCoaching
@PokerCoaching 4 года назад
If they're calling a ton preflop, just 3-bet with a linear range and you'll crush them!
