What was the problem? I drove a 98 Corolla for 15 yrs with a check engine light on, it did not affect performance or mileage at all, so I just kept driving it till id died at 425k miles.

When making your final offer, the highest amount to offer would be “Good condition” trade value plus 7% if the car is really nice. The 7% is what they would gain by trading the car at a dealership.
