I just want to give some context on the recent studies I mention in the video. While being to specifically target belly fat has been ridiculed by the fitness industry over the years, there seems to be more research suggesting it might be possible. I’ll be honest though, I’m still not 100% convinced. That said, these latest studies have opened my mind to losing fat in a specific area potentially being possible. And that’s what we should all strive to have…an open mind. But I’ll admit, more research is required for me to form an opinion on whether sports traducing fat is possible, or not. At the end of the day, being “science” or “evidence based” has become so misunderstood. Being “science based has nothing to do with forming an opinion because you read one study. Being truly scientific is believing in what you don’t currently know more than what you think you do. Anyone who’s truly “evidence based” doesn’t call the things they’re doing as scientific. Research is there to INFORM our decision making. When new research contradict older findings, most guys will say” So science is BS”? But that’s stupid. Because imagine looking at a weather forecast a week ahead. Is it weird it changes every couple of days when there’s more information? Do we expect a forecast to be super accurate a week out? We’re ALWAYS dealing with lots of variables and incomplete information. Fitness research just informs our decision making for an individual situation. It doesn’t tell us exactly what to do. What I will admit is I’m trialing out this is spot-reducing my belly fat over the next 8 weeks. I might see a difference, I might not. I’m going to be training my abs and doing cardio regardless, so I may as well tie them together. I’ll keep you guys updated with the progress.
