My 89 year old mother has a 98 with 74k miles. Left by my late father in 2000 as a second vehicle. Paint is crap now(always parked outside), old lady ding and scrapes, cigarette burn holes in drivers seat, matching camper shell. Surrendered her license 2 years ago, I use it when I chauffeur her around. Still runs great. Going to start totally restoring it soon. Mostly body-one good sized dent and scrape and reupholstering or replacing the front split bench seat. And after that it won't be for sale. Good luck.

yeah, they are pretty hard to find for sale. Even harder to find than the smaller toyota pickup. The dirt cheap days for any toyota trucks are gone. Back in 2010 It was possible to buy a toyota pickup for about 1000 if you were fast enough. Those days are long over now.

Proud owner of a '96 T100 V6! I just replaced the bulbs in the headlights tonight - easy peasy and for about $60. Not at all like the newer fashionable (expensive) trucks where guys are paying thousands to replace light assemblies lol. It does need some tlc on the trim inside and out, and a new headlight switch since it isn't activating the high beams anymore, but what the heck I paid cash in 2005, it has less than 185K on it, and it has never left a single drop of oil on the ground. All that with no car payment for almost two decades? Yes please.

Smart. Nowadays though people want to criticize smart drivers which know exactly what a good driver is. Knowing cars that are not problematic+ checking your fluids+taking care of the car= A SMART DRIVER. Not just a person who knows how to maneuver and flore it through traffic in a car that breaks down but looks cool

I own a 2012 honda ridgeline had the underframe recall, new tires and pressure sensors, rotor, brakes, good oil runs perfect, only draw back to avalanche and ridgeline is rear visibility is bad backing up. Used it for towing a mower and 1000 pounds of mulch in the back great truck!

😎 Honda Ridgeline one of the most practical best long-lasting trucks out there and I love cloth interior it lasts forever. The trunk in the bed where the tailgate open sideways is a big help but one note always check your four-wheel drive system in generation 1. Engage then do a steering lock left and right Make sure that rear end is working.

When I first saw the Ridgeline years ago I thought it was a stupid truck concept with it's very short truck bed. Looking at all the short truck beds people are driving today, I have much more respect for the Ridgeline & their durability.

Loved my Chevy Avalanches. I bought a 2002 and a 2005 both brand new. Both were 4WD and had the first generation full cladding. I traded the 2002 with 65K on it for the 2005 only because my job required us to drive vehicle less than 4 years old to qualify for the company monthly truck allowance. The truck was actually in perfect condition. In late 2006 I lost that job to the recession so I kept the 2005 until 2020. I had 135K on it then, the cladding was faded, headliner was sagging but since I live in central North Carolina it had ZERO rust in the body. When I traded I just wanted something newer so I bought a 2 year old Silverado which to date now has given me a lot of trouble compared to 18 years of driving Avalanches. Kind of wish I had kept my 2005 and spent a fraction of the money I spent on the Silverado to fix it back up. I probably would have been much better off. ;-) The only other other thing I can say about my 2005 Avalanche is, I bet some one out there got a good one.

All those that got the Xtracab (1996 and later models did) got the smaller bed. No 8ft beds on Xtracab models. Looks quite clean but did I see patches on that frame?! I know these and the earlier Toyota pickups had better frames than the Tacomas and early Tundras but it looks like this one was reinforced. My daily driver is a '93 compact SR5 pickup that was sold new at Bristol Toyota when they were still located in RI, It had a side impact accident which required replacing driver side door and cab side panel and was sent to Canada around 2006-2007. I got it in 2009. I rustproofed it a few times since but the frame is still solid and never needed reinforcement. It has a lot of mileage but still runs fine, A/C blows cold and power accessories all work. No annoying body noises either!

Truck frames could be rust free like a ship's hull, they use sacrificial anodes, made of zinc and the zinc bars are replaced every so often. How does anode prevent rust? Sacrificial anodes are used to protect metal structures from corroding. Sacrificial anodes work by oxidizing more quickly than the metal it is protecting, being consumed completely before the other metal reacts with the electrolytes.

It had the frame replaced, I replaced the step side bed because of rust, the leaf springs broke, The rear bumper support is too rusted so much they wouldn't inspect it too tow, And there's a brake valve off the master cylinder that causes the front driver caliper to pull you into on coming traffic, if you go on a Toyota V log, it's known problem and the master cylinder cost $2,000, they don't sell the check valve separate, I've called Toyota, there ignoring me ,hoping I'll go away, I have a registered complaint, the local dealerships told me good luck laughing at me, and Scotty asked me to stop by to see if we could twist there arm, But that's a 5 hour drive for me at 13 mph, I'll keep emailing everyone, The thing about Toyotas, the engine and drive train are bulletproof, Everything around them rot in New England, you gotta keep them oiled or just keep replacing everything. And to replacement part are expensive, and I just did the timing belt, $1,000, Alot of rusty bolts. I love the truck, it a nice v-8 4.7.

Funny that the t100 was basically what the taco is today, it’s actually smaller than the Taco today LOL. I believe when toyota was shut down making the T150, they came back with a vengeance and basically said “oh yea Big 3, you don’t take our full size p/u?!? Here we go - and when they put the V8 in the first gen Tundras - they’re so overbuilt!

Back in I think 07 parents wanted a new Honda van. We also sat in and drove around in the Honda Truck. One of the first ones made too. Super comfy, looked really nice. They ended up with the van, but man we regret not buying one because they were so damn comfy. I still cant find a vehicle as comfy as that was. If they made them with the towing capacity as some of these other trucks, it would dominate the truck industry with comfort and long haul.

I know right!? I almost flipped my rocker when I saw that. My biggest complaint about newer trucks is the bed is way to small to even be a real truck. Now here's truck with decent cab space and the option to extend your bed.
@michaeldigiulio5602
@michaeldigiulio5602 6 месяцев назад
The only problem with “extending the bed” of the avalanche is you can expose the people inside the truck to loads shifting and other dangers, as the load is transitioned from “outside” in the normal bed configuration to sharing the the interior space with the load, especially if not properly secured/tied down.

All nice trucks but Scotty, you are not buying ANY cheap trucks here in Florida, unless it a rust bucket. As you said in your other videos, it seems that as people put more miles on Toyota trucks, 200, 300, 000 miles, they want even more for them!!!!!!!! Sometimes a real clean, like new condition Tacoma, maybe 5-10 years old with 350K, they still want 10k or over and they get that. Not me, Eventually the engine and trans will go out and I don't want to be the one to have to buy that. Great info, thanks again.

Bought a 1 owner 2009 white 4dr (crew cab) Toyota Tacoma TRD 4cyl 4/4 for 10k At Toyota dealer that had 75 k miles back in 2013 the body was showroom but after buying it I had to do inspection before I could get hard plates (New Hampshire) found out the frame was completely ROTTED! Was shocked the Toyota dealer had it on their certified preowned lot! Like that. Yet claimed it was serviced fully and yea it had brand new tires. (How they lifted it to put tires on with bad frame and not know was beyond me) But Toyota put a brand new frame on it for free.. couple years later sold it for double what I paid for it.

The only purpose of the V6's in the new Tundra is to trick the CAFE standards. They don't measure these things in real world conditions. At the end of the day, there is zero purpose for putting a V6 turbo on a full-size truck. All it does in the long run is break down sooner and cost the owner more. They don't care though. We are way down the list of priorities for automakers. Now, if they could make a straight 6 like Ford did in the 70's, that would be a different story, but they would never make an engine that reliable again.

Drove an Ford F-150 81 to 94, then a 96 auto with the 4.9 liter 6 cyl. 22 miles per cdn. Gallon. Even drove a 69 with the three on the tree. Same 6 cylinder. All we ever needed.

The rust on these trucks..is because people dont take care of them that well.....all you have to do is go to a brushless car wash a few times a week, wash the body and underbody...thats what i do..and.ive never had my cars and trucks rust out..

I was just in Durango and when I was leaving this weekend I saw a white T100 for sale on someone's property right off the highway the 550 South Durango going to New Mexico I'm pretty sure it was dirt cheap and it looked really good for the body, who knows about everything else but if I had extra money I would have bought it knowing what I know from you Scotty 😂! I remember these first came out in the 90s I got to ride in one with the general manager of a dealership, who had his demo that he was using to go up to Lake Isabella up here in California it was a nice ride not better than a Ford or a Chevy at the time but the one thing I could not get over was how ugly it looks since it had a big shells with tiny wheels and I said nope never going to buy one of these it looked too Arigato for me 😂!

I went shopping for a new truck and whole thing made me just wanna puke. You have to struggle like hell to find real friggin truck, which is what I want and not a luxury sedan with a bed and tailgate. I would feel neutered driving around in what passes for a truck now. Can I just get a truck? No motorized running boards and tailgate. Maybe one that has less than two cameras in it? I don't want a hot seat and steering wheel and it turns out that I'm lumped in with a very low minority of men. Can we just bring back the pickup truck?

Finding a good price on old Toyota trucks went out with high button shoes! Secrets out. Unless it's a rust bucket, people seem to want crazy money for them. Same with the 'lanche. Was able to snag a low mileage, '07 Ridgeline for a decent price a few weeks ago.

Law is inconsistant. Ford forced Toyota to not use 150 yet numbers can NOT be copywrited. Thats why we got the pentium name in chip manufacturing. when the 386 was phased out, for a short time they made 486s but renamed them pentium so they could copywrite
