Y’all are so cute and my new best friends😉. I’m an RN with 23 years in labor and delivery just starting out in dialysis at 65 yrs old. I’m training with the tech first and techs are the best! Thank you

I’ve been a tech for almost 10 years now, and the 3rd tech on the video was closest to my technique 😂 you figure out fast and safe ways to do it. To new techs: hang in there! Setting up the machine seems daunting at first, but eventually it becomes second nature, as easy as breathing

Very helpful. Love seeing the 3 different ways. Also reassuring to know that its not really how you set it up, as long as its done properly. My struggle so far, after day 1, is going to be remembering which clamps to clamp and unclamp and when😅 but again today was literally my 1st instruction on how to even string a machine. The teaching is a little shotty so far, but its only been a week for me. The facility im at seems to have a good atmosphere that promotes safety for the patients. So that definitely helps knowing they just want us to know "the right way." With all Healthcare and other jobs, there's the twxt book way," and the "real world" way😂

@Specialcowgirl69 2 месяца назад
@@taradetrick5264 i feel your pain. I was in my car praying to Jesus before I went into the clinic. I was so nervous to get out of my car and shaking when I opened the door. I carried around a little note book and wrote down stuff so my preceptor didn't have to repeat herself. Then I asked if I could write steps down on sticky notes and put them on the machine. My preceptor was really impressed that I took the initiative to make notes. I would have from the beginning but I was too scared to ask if I could bring notes on the floor 🤦🏼‍♀️ We just hired another tech and my FA had to tell my preceptor that she was being too tough and might scare good people away. So now I know it wasn't me having anxiety for no reason 😅 please reach out if you have any questions or just need to talk about being a new tech. I've been running my own bay for 3 weeks now.

Thank you so much for this video! I just started at Fresenius as an RN with no prior experience & they have me learning through videos and training/ precepting with a PCT to know everything down to the basics. I'm a little stressed and scared with everything I don't know yet. Is this something the nurses help with on a day to day basis as well?
@imeboni
@imeboni 2 года назад
Heyyyy welcome!! It’s very normal to be stressed and scared about what you don’t know…but work through the fear and nerves..they will die off. Yes..the nurse does what the tech is showing you on a day to day basis. We have been so short staffed nurses have worked a full pod like a tech. The best part about that is you get to be super one on one with your patients, develop your cannulation skills, develop your way of changing over to your next patients, and allow you to get to know your tech.

These are great representations other than the blood pump was only correct on the last demonstration. You have to prime at 150 so the saline has time to get in every fiber of the dialyzer. Anything over 150 can cause clotting in the dialyzer during treatment.
@imeboni
@imeboni 2 месяца назад
Thank you. I worked for one company that does 150 and another that does 200 and I’ve seen people prime at 500 😳…blew my mind but it wasn’t my section so I left them alone. That made me realize I choose what’s best for me. I personally prime between 150-200 and do not have clot issues! 🤷🏽‍♀️ to each its own

Have your packs and everything you need for the next set of patients ready and close as possible, so on the counters or cart near. You can strip the machines when the patient is stable and make sure you have their closing information in. After walking them to scale (if their a walking pt) you can clean and set up your machine and while it’s priming clean the chair and when it’s finished marry those lines and hit that test button. I hope this helps!

@imeboni
@imeboni 2 года назад
Once my machine test..I put on my transducers and hansens and turn up the BFR to 500 to get air out of the dialyzer. You will see bubbles in the venous chamber. I fill it up a little after it says AIR DETECTOR ALARM. Then I shake the dialyzer a lil and flip my dialyzer to red facing upward to let it fill and get more bubbles out. Then I try to let it run for a minimum of a minute or 2 before my patient comes(you can do longer if you have time). I make sure all air is gone before I hook my patient up! I hope this helps!

Hey Eboni! Firstly, I would like to say thank you so much, because I come to your channel for help. I’m a new tech (2 months) I haven’t gotten on the floor yet, I’m having trouble with understanding how to line the machine, when do I prime? And when do I add saline to the venous chamber, and when do I marry the lines?
@imeboni
@imeboni 2 года назад
Once you spike your saline bag the arterial will begin to prime, if your lines aren’t clamped(I don’t clamp mine until after I fill the arterial chamber). Fill your arterial chamber and BIG clamp the arterial. Put your blood pump at 150 and press prime for the venous chamber..to understand where the water is going in the lines watch the water travel in the lines. Once the venous is primed you can marry your lines, unclamp the big clamps and then fill your venous chamber.

Only the third person primed per policy at a BFR of 150. As an educator I have no issue with the different ways people get the lines on the machine as long as they’re not contaminating them, but 150 is mandatory. Also the line below the drip chamber should always be in the clamp BEFORE you test the machine.
@imeboni

Thank you. 150 is mandatory depending on the company. I’ve worked with two and each company did something different. So I just go with which I feel is best.

Hi I completed my registered medical assistant in 2019. I worked for 4 months. I would like to be a PCT dialysis. I need information about training and classes, interview require what certificate exam should take? Thanks
@imeboni
@imeboni 2 года назад
Hi 👋🏽, Training is 3months long, im with Fresenius and they train you, you don’t need to take any extra classes outside of work, you won’t need to take a certification exam until after training and they provide you with those details. I advise working with a dialysis company like Fresenius, Davita, US renal, etc first before taking any certification because the exam is scenario based. My interviews were not super formal because I knew the people. But even with that my very first interview they gave me a mini tour of the clinic and then we spoke about what the hours were. Its only 40hours a week until after training. You take a company test at the end of training. If you pass it your journey truly begins..if you fail it, take it again if you want.
