Can we just talk about how this movie is ALREADY 17 years old and it feels like it just came out. Thanks for this footage, now I am going to go listen to the soundtrack , again!
The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. John 1:1,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us, 1 John 3:8 KJV He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Isaiah 9:6 KJV For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT. John 3:18 KJV He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
There's always a difference between a movie that mostly has practical effects compared to a movie that CGI's everything they can, even the things that they shouldn't! I find that modern movies seem to be moving in the latter direction, even movies with multimillio-dollar budgets. Always refreshing to see a modern movie use practical effects like these!
It’s so hard to believe that Johnny played WW. He looks, sounds, and acts like a completely different person. Kudos to johnny Edit: I normally don’t do edits. But to the people coming at me in a rude tone saying “it’s called acting”, I was praising him for being a good actor. Calm down, please, and stop trying to be negative. I know it’s acting. But I was saying it was really good because I couldn’t even tell it was him. Most actors aren’t able to sound or look like a completely different person. Thank you.
I thought the whole thing was CGI. Everyone who put this together was amazing. All the actors were brilliant too. Notably, I think Johnny nailed this character.
The fact they built a whole set for the chocolate palace is insane. All that work for like a 1-2 minute scene... That's dedication I'll tell ya. Filmmakers at their craft. You might think it's stupid to invest so much time for something that wasn't in the film for that long, but you also have to think about retakes and potential set problems that could ruin a scene, so in the end...it was all necessary.
I’m shocked to see how much of this movie isn’t CGI. Watching it makes you think most of it is, but the set designers were just that good at creating unrealistic cartoony looks for things
LOL😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 TRUER WORDS HAVE NEVER BEEN SAID!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I HAVEN'T LAUGHED SO HARD IN A LONG TIME. TU, I NEEDED YOUR COMMENT MORE THAN I KNEW! SO GREAT!!!
I have content of Johnny Depp running after Amber Heard with a sharp object and her begging him to stop!! It is a recording played at trial that I transcribed!!
I am in awe and not only Johnny's acting but also the fact that the melting chocolate and the set is all real is insane let alone training the squirrels 😯
I read an interview where he said he got the voice for Wonka, while playing dolls with his daughter. This just makes my heart melt. Johnny Depp is truly a beautiful soul.❤
Didn't know that, love it! In one of his interviews he was talking about playing Barbies with his daughter for like 12 hours lol. He may have been making a joke about the actual time, but obviousy played Barbies with her for a long time. Can you imagine that scenario! Oh, to have been a fly on the wall!
Can't believe this movie was filmed in 2004, it was very much ahead of its time. I was shocked to find out it wasn't very well received when it first came out.
It was done well, but it most certainly wasn’t ahead of it’s time. A lot of these filming techniques were being heavily employees in the 2000s. The Lord of The Rings and the Star Wars prequels come to mind. Both used a ton of motion capture and there were many practical effects, especially in TLOTR. If you want to see a film which was truly ahead of it’s time, watch The Fifth Element from 1997. They did not use motion capture at the time, but I compare all other CGI to that film. If you can’t do better than they did in 1997, why even try?
Really!?!? That’s surprising, we watched it RELIGIOUSLY in my house as kids bc we thought it was so cool o.O we even used it to put my little brother to sleep bc of the music
Ahead of its time? 🤣🤣 You realize they made the same movie & same sets decades before this, right? & they made it better, even though they had A LOT LESS to work with.
Maybe it's because he looks like Captain Jack at least quite a bit. Tattoos, a beard, something like a rock star I don’t know 😅 I always knew Johnny was playing Willy Wonka, but I really don't see him! All I see is Wonka, no Johnny at all. It's so weird for me lol
Yes, I felt the same--he became so androgenous , but I thnk he has a button he presses in his brain when he works with Burton-brings him kind back to Scissorhands--a childlike joy?
It wasn’t long ago that I found out it was Johnny Depp. I don’t really know and follow actors like a lot of people do but of course I’ve heard of Depp. He’s had so many diverse roles in movies it’s wild.
🤯 the synchronization of the factory ladies, the chocolate palace, the creativity, the kid in the chocolate river, the amount of creativity from everyone esp Johnny!
I think she is referring to something like they were so young that even if they known the renown of these people, knew some of their works and had the opportunity to learn by first hand what was like to work with them, at that time of their lives, they weren’t able to fully understand the weight that those men have in the lives and hearts of several generations that grew up with the amazing stories and worlds that they brought to life c: what a privilege to look back and remember the amazing experiences they had with them and been part of it
I miss the trinity......Burton, Depp, and Bonham-Carter. They made cinematic magic together, and I loved their collaborations. We need them back together to create more masterpieces.
I actually... Didn't expect most of the props to be genuine props, god, they should have done five golden tickets for five kids be at the set because that's as magical and a unique experience as going into the factory must have been.
10:25 Wow, you don't realize just how loud that chocolate waterfall actually is in real life haha, it's a wonder anyone could hear any lines or anything that was being said
im sorry their budget was HOW MUCH?? cuz they practically made every room IRL, even the gigantic chocolate room and the machines in the lab wtf!! now thats impressive!!!
you need to see the original made in the 1970's. there is no movie more iconic and mezmerizing than that except maybe the original judy garland in wizard of oz.
God I was so obsessed with this movie when it first came out. I loved the special features on the DVD; you could really SEE how much effort they put into the whole production. A feast for the eyes, literally.
They did not have to go that hard on the dvd. One of the best and that's saying something because there were a lot of really well put together dvds around the early/mid 2000s.
I have content of Johnny Depp running after Amber Heard with a sharp object and her begging him to stop! It is a recording played at trial that I transcribed
@MischiefsHorizon no like, what's a puppet in the movie? I know there are animatronics of deep roy and all the squirrels are real so idk what they're talking about.
This movie illustrates JD's talent as a character actor than almost better than any other film he's ever done. If you didn't know it was JD, you really couldn't tell. Just amazing transformation!!!

I LOVEEEEE the raw footage. Its so much more real than a edited filtered enhanced "documentary or behind the scenes" which is really more like just another movie Lmao. I would 100% watch more hours of this than anything.
Thanks for commenting, Willy! It was old B-roll footage uploaded on RU-vid by Warner Bros. It was available through a link only. It was since made private but I downloaded it beforehand.
Wow this is amazing. I think people take for granted how important it is preserving footage of production because it’s so fascinating, and the fact that there’s this much of it from the movie is so cool. It looks like such a positive work environment too for the crew. Very awesome!
Yes, the last point is always important. I mean, if there had been any negative stuff, I'd doubt it would be released for public consumption, but one still gets the vibe from this b-roll that the cast and crew were in good spirits, and no one was harmed, despite all the various stunts.
Something that is so sad about films today is the lack of practical effects. They made a whole candy shop for ONE scene in this movie. Today it would just be cheap CGI. Its a big reason no one went to see the new Wonka movie. Everyone is tired of looking at CGI. We want practical effects and real sets back.
Absolutely incredible footage. I wish we had more behind the scenes shots like this for more movies. Johnny was absolutely brilliant in this film and I always loved watching it as a kid. As a reminder, every day after filming these scenes, Johnny, Burton and others had to go to the set of Corpse Bride to record voice lines for that film. Insane work ethic here.
It's so cool to see the actors contain their emotions for a long time for a shot that might be 10 seconds to us but took hours to make and be emotional in front of literally nothing at the right time.
its like Johnny becomes possessed- how well hes able to portray these characters; the mannerisms, the voice acting. Everything about this performance was incredible and the directors did such a phenomenal job on this film.
6:06 I was there in this crowd, one of them, I know you can barely see me, but Twitter refused to give me a blue checkmark when I showed them the video, they said they can't see me. And I said psh open your eyes, unreal.
I have never in my 67 years of life loved an actor as much as I love Johnny, seeing him pour his life out on the stand in front of the world has been so sad and touching! Disney has screwed up royally! There’s never going to be another Jack Sparrow ever! Get healthy and happy Johnny ❤️ you are loved by the world #justiceforjohnnydepp
MJ actually wanted to do the role of willy Wonka bc he wanted to get into acting. He said to Tim burton that he'll do the movie's entire soundtrack for free if he gets the role, but Tim said no. LOL. So the fact that Johnny Depp was inspired by MJ is quite hilarious and ironic.
I love this movie. The amount of work that went into it is amazing. Depp really brought an unexpected tone to Wonka that I find mesmerizing for some reason. Gene Wilder was sheer brilliance with his characterization. Love them both for bringing two different worlds to life that I can escape to. Happy 50th anniversary to the original!
I agree. I like and appreciate both. I like the original for the bright whimsical that Gene's had. I also like that this caught some of the darker tones the book has. While being fun.
Watching movies like this getting made makes me realize just how much money and effort is put into making scenes like the chocolate river. All the materials, time spent filming, the creativity that goes into coming up with it and then actually making it is insane
Johnny's voice made this character! It's awesome how he made the viewers hang on to every single weird word Willy Wonka says! Johnny Depp is a king of an actor!
They should've kept in Mike mocking Veruca, that would've been ICONIC. Plus, it's just hilarious, especially the look she gives him! 🤣 And I like that Mr. Teavee had some concern for Augustus --- they should have kept that in, too. 😕
Me too. It fit their characters in this version. Mike being a rude smartass who would make fun of the spoiled rich girl, and Mr. Teavee actually being a fairly decent guy (shame about his son).
ohh so they didn’t use it in the movie. i was so confused because i don’t remember that part so i thought it was a lady behind the camera telling her how to say it.
It’s so sad when we saw all this hard work for a years…. The long march of a man's life of work and dedication, and another person who has nothing less than all of this comes and tries to destroy him … justice for Johnny ✌🏼
1. So much more in this movie was practical effects than I even thought! 2. At 11:53 there's something really wholesome about Johnny clapping for this kid that did his own stunt.
I never liked this movie as a kid, but honestly, seeing how many of the sets, props, effects, etc. were real is really impressive. Must have been super fun for the child actors.
I couldn't adore Johnny any more. He is simply perfection on the movie screen. I've never had an infatuation with him as a teen idol or anything like that but every movie he played in just seemed to be flawless. He is so talented I wish I had just a tiny bit of his talent.
@@thescroot Thank god we have people like you to get online and comment on random people's comments. You have opened my eyes and taught me so much. Don't know how I got through these past 50 years without your fkn guidance. Wise one. Fkn dip-sh!+
For the longest I thought this was how Johnny Depp actually spoke. Needless to say I was floored when I saw him on some award show. Shows just how talented he is
I cannot believe the production value from what I have seen so far. (I have only watched 8 minutes from this moment writing). They truly do not make them like they use to. I think I'm going to watch it again for greater appreciation. Awesome line up!
I am a big fan of Tim Burton's amazing work. Directing Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, etc. And producing movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas with Henry Selick and producing 9 with Shane Acker. Keep up the great work Tim, you're a legendary director.
