One of my most favorite things about Charlie is his voice. Its always felt like such a comfortable warm hug to me. I hope he sees all the comments about it cause I’ve read so many other people say they feel the same way about his voice. It’s just such a wonderful voice

This episode features the best jump cut/edit of the entire series, IMO: Charlie belts out the entire Nightman song and then, without missing a beat, it cuts to Mac telling Dennis, “We need a new frontman.”

The best part of the scene with Dennis and Charlie working out the song, is Dennis very subtly steering Charlie away from the spray paint. That bit makes me lose it every time I watch that episode.

Charlie coming up with the Day Man lyrics on the spot is legitimate comedic genius.

I love that we're 30 episodes in and the gang is still figuring out the format lol That IS the format at this point and I love it.

I hope they bring up the news about the Roman bust that a girl bought from good will and named it after Dennis's character. She said it seemed cold and distant and thought 'Dennis' was a fitting name. The bust ended up being authentic. It's 2000 years old, and she bought it for 35 bucks from a good will in Texas. They believe a US soldier took it home during WW2 from a German museum.

Mac saying “if I fail, fuck it, I got my guys” was bromantic.

I'm gonna become a father in a bout 0 to 10 days (I hope) and that one last mention from Glenn about how parents can equip their children with that impenetrable shield of self acceptance just warmed my heart. I didn't get it from my parents and now I'm dead set on giving it to my little lad, so he can do awesome shit like creating an equivalent of Always Sunny in a form of his choosing. Ps. Dee is a bird

This episode is a classic. Also, I'm enjoying the podcast and when they're just bantering about whatever, but I do enjoy the element of them talking about the episode. It's interesting as a fan to hear bits about the creative process and what they think is funny now / not as funny. So I think a balance of both is the best way to go: an episode recap / retrospective, sandwiched between some shooting the shit freely

What I've taken away from this episode is that Megan usually sets up the camera.

I just rewatched this episode and I think it 100% holds up. Even though there isn't a character who directly confronts the gang about their use of the R-word the fact that they're referring to Kevin as one and then doing the most insane shit and huffing glue and paint a scene later gets the point across really well.

Charlie has such a sweet and gentle voice. Makes me wanna just scoop him up and put him in my pocket. What a sweetheart.

All the rats that Charlie killed in the bar come back to haunt him and drinking so much paint has led Charlie to believe he is seeing the ghosts of the rats that he killed

I hope Charlie sees all these comments about his voice. It's part of what makes him, him. I LOVE it

As a huge fan of the show and the podcast I really do enjoy when they talk about the show and what was scripted versus improv and what went into it. I know they guys act like it’s boring but I believe most of us do enjoy hearing about it’s but I also do enjoy the off the cuff dialogue they have but a little more about what goes into the show wouldn’t hurt. Love the Podcast!

This podcast is just getting better and better. Love it when you cover the episode. Love it when you veer off the topic. Please keep going. Like the show, the podcast keeps changing and evolving. Love getting to hang out with you three. You've deepened the experience of the show by going outside of it. It’s just proof that there never needs to be an end to this thing you’ve built.

Would love to see Glenn on curb your enthusiasm. Can 100% see him and Larry getting into a very passionate argument about parking or gas guzzling cars etc. The scene writes itself

I'm surprised Charlie is insecure about his voice, I think his voice really complements his actual personality. It's very endearing and I've always thought that.

Charlie mentioning his voice is crazy to me. There are many actors who have such distinct voices that make them standout like Gilbert Godfrey and Kristen Schaal to name a few. I think him starting from commercials and having his voice cut out has really made him feel insecure over the years, but beyond the commercial work his distinct voice just adds more to his characters. Will Arnett, Charlie, and Kristen Scall doing voice work together is this simple man’s dream

As a big "Creep" , I set time aside to watch this podcast. It does feel like I'm hanging out with friends, but I primarily tune in for the inside baseball of each episode and rewatch the episode.

The last thing I expected for myself when watching this episode was that I’d get emotional lol hearing about Charlie’s insecurities about his appearance and voice makes me so sad! Attraction is subjective, but I think Charlie is so cute. And his voice just makes his characters, especially in Sunny. One of my favorites is in Kitten Mittens when he goes “is your cat making too much noISE ALL THE TIME?!” The tones he hits are perfect. Charlie we love everything about you! And the second time I got emotional was at the end when they’re talking about how they’ve found a home with one another and feel so loved and supported. Goddamn, that was so sweet to hear and makes me love the show and the gang even more.

Can't believe we're already at 30 episodes of the podcast. I can't get enough of these guys. I'm having fun listening to their random banter and getting to know them a little better as people rather than their characters. It's also interesting getting a little peek behind the scenes of one of my favorite shows. As the actors and creator/writers they're able to give us a new perspective on the show and let us see the process by which they've created it. Plus being insulted as an audience member by the writers of such pieces of garbage as the gang...it's a gosh darn dream come true. My life is small. Let me have this.

I could easily imagine Charlie becoming convinced the ghost of Jerry has come back and has entered him to seek revenge... 🤣

I love that they've kept the running joke going throughout the entire podcast since the beginning of pretending not to know each other's shows outside of Sunny. MISTER QUEST!

The wide range of conversation y'all are able to have from the absurd to the philosophical is wonderful. That conversation at the end about being rooted was important to me today. Keep doing you, we'll keep creeping for as long as you'll let us.

One of my favorite running gags of the podcast is when Rob mentions Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet or Glenn mentions AP Bio and the other guy pretends to not know about the show AND Charlie's lack of acknowledgment of their others shows all together. Charlie acts like he didn't even hear Rob or Glenn mention the other show and just keeps talking or changes the subject.

The end of this one had me in tears…. I wish I had that kind of love and support Glenn was talking about 🥺

I love the 'what show is that?' between Glenn's AP Bio and Rob's Mythic Quest every time they're brought up.

The ending of this podcast was such an absolute joy to listen to and very inspiring. The support you provide each other and they way you describe family is so perfect. Thank you.

So, this "r-word" hysteria really makes no sense. It absolutely is NOT like the n-word. Here's the problem: First, psychologists decide to call mentally handicapped people "retarded" which, at the time, is a clinical term, not offensive or insulting. Then ordinary people decide using that word to insult the intellect of other ordinary people would be a good burn, so it becomes a slang insult. Okay, at that moment in history, you now have an offensive R-word. However, then the psychologists decide that because the R-word is being used as a derogatory term, they need to change the clinical term for mentally handicapped to something new. So now it is NOT being used to refer to mentally handicapped people. So now it is JUST used as an insult. But that actually FIXES it!! Because now a mentally handicapped person won't hear the R-word and think, "aw, shucks, that's what I am, and they're using it like an insult!" The proof that the R-word has become inoffensive by virtue of the clinical term being retired from professional usage is that this has happened already multiple times in history. "Idiot" was a clinical term for mentally handicapped people, then ordinary folks began using it as an insult, so the clinical term was changed...we now freely call each other "idiots" without offending the mentally handicapped because it is not a word used to refer to them any longer, it is just a pure insult. Then "moron" was invented as a clinical term for the mentally handicapped, but people started tossing that around as an insult, and so it was retired/replaced as a clinical term and we now use it solely as an insult, and it is NOT offensive because it is NOT a clinical term for the mentally handicapped. Same story with "imbecile." Frankly, there are probably many more examples of this because the bottom line is that, if you want to insult some one, you often want to insult their intelligence, and what is a more direct way to do that than likening them to a person who has an intellectual disability? So it is a recurring pattern, with the medical establishment repeatedly shifting the terminology used for the mentally handicapped to stay one step ahead of the insults. The bottom line is that, every generation or two, we need to invent new clinical terminology for the mentally handicapped, and whatever terminology we used before gets retired to the realm of pure insult, at which time it is not offensive (since insult and offense are not synonymous). So it obviously makes zero sense to suddenly erase the R-word from use as an insult AFTER the clinicians have already moved on to another term for the mentally handicapped. You're closing the barn door after the cows have all run away. Alternatively, you could argue the medical establishment screwed the pooch on this one because if we are all going to stop using the R-word as an insult, then they should just keep using it as a clinical term, and finally get themselves off the crazy treadmill of having to re-label mental dysfunction every generation or two. They finally have "keeper" term. Yippee!! Except, no, they've already moved on... So, now that the R-word is NOT a clinical term for people with intellectual disabilities, and is understood only as an insult, why is it still offensive? If it is offensive, why aren't "idiot," "moron," and "imbecile" offensive under the exact same reasoning? This is a classic example of people jumping on a p.c. bandwagon without actually thinking it through. And now anyone who uses the R-word is attacked by cancel culture when, in fact, there's nothing wrong with using it anymore, it's no worse than saying something is "moronic."

This was the episode I'd show people to get them into Sunny. This is still one of my favourite episodes if not my favourite

One of my absolute favorite moments in all of Sunny takes place in this episode. The cut to Lil’ Kev wide-eyed laughing and eating popcorn is such a classic. Sometime I look over at my 3 year old son and he has the exact same expression of absolute joy while being in full blown hysterics…

There is a HUGE difference between mocking people and mocking situations or even mocking people who discriminate. Cause the joke there is not the guy whether he has a condition or not. It's how people react to that. I have never felt this episode disrespects anyone but Dee. Haha.

Glenn and Charlie are always in a psychological tug of war and it's awesome. Rob just chills in the middle. Great dynamic

Mythic Quest, along with it’s always sunny, is a great example of just letting the creator create. Both shows can make you feel like absolutely anything can happen and make you forget there are limitations they have(nudity, no full penetration).

I love how after it's joked about how Rob keeps calling his show "Mister Quest" hahah

Satire is satire. I think it’s totally acceptable to allow the characters to be vectors for the social critique/statement/observation. You guys are aware of the connotations, and I believe that you use your artistic liberties with discretion and genuine care.

God I wish they talked about Danny’s pecan sandies scene. Everything he says and how he says it is fucking hilarious and one my favorite scenes ever…also been my fantasy football team name numerous times

Charlie's voice is literally one of my favourites

I think what I liked most about that moment of coming up for the lyrics of the Nightman song was their reactions while doing it felt so genuine. And, even though the lyrics are absurd the "clap" and "ahaaaaa" made it sound like an anthem or one of Queen songs and made me want more. Then, the Nightman Cometh episode (and the musical organized with the fans) was like a dream come true.

Never apologize for being you. It takes your credibility away instantly.

CHARLIE DAY is a goddamn musical & comedic genius! That entire Nightman riff is seared into my brain as a fan & and as an actor that would hope to have a fraction of the talent on display in this episode! Seriously I have had that insane brilliant ramble of a song memorized since it aired!! It’s insane you guys are not recognized more for the genius comedy on display here and on the show for decades!

Rob is far too hard on the writing of the show, forming the band was absolutely genius! You also tiptoed around this so well and if you re-shot it now I can't help but think Frank would be the one to be using "that word"

This is one of my favorite episodes because whenever Charlie and Dennis get together, Dennis is relatively innocent. You see genuine friendship. Making Dayman just for fun. On the trip to both Grand Canyon and Atlantic City, Dennis actually tries to comfort Charlie when he has anxiety. When they strip. 😂

Glenn’s comment about having support and feeling like you always have a safe place where people love you and accept you hit me hard . Cause when’s you don’t have that, times can get tough . Truly a Golden GOD lol

Really appreciate how vulnerable the guys allow themselves to be with each other and with the public. I really hope that this can help some people who might be afraid of vulnerability and confronting areas where they can improve. It's also nice to see just how different they are from their characters. Like, you know the show is satire and that the gag is these people suck, but sometimes after working on something a while the lines between actor and character can get blurred, so it's nice to see that they pretty much went in the opposite direction and are doing their best to be great people and great parents.

BEST EPISODE OF THE SHOW! The start of Dayman, a work of fucking art. Can't wait to listen to this pod.
