This song is so similar to the Nepeta's Serenade, I mean the passages of accords, tempo, and similar high melody. Roxy, like Nepeta, was not often shown to be tormented by feelings. Roxy is also Dirk's dear friend, while Nepeta has Equius. Let me remind you that this is a friendship of aspects of the Heart and the Void. Conclusion: words or emotions are not always needed to understand that someone is suffering.
ive got no clue what passages of accords means. ill concede the arpeggios are played in a similar kinda rushing way though. its a fun fan theory but i really dont think theres much of a connection here musically. its been a while since i read homestuck but nepeta was always a lighthearted character, the most serious thing she did was die. roxy meanwhile did have some serious shit goin on its just she dealt with it through alcoholism. i guess you could say the same of nepetas shipping wall but.. ehhhh idkkkk
i dont think i could ever hate her. she always tries her hardest, even while drunk. she tends to put her friends before herself. and even when she took a beating, she took it with a carefree attitude and didnt complain at all - all the way up to her breaking point. shes a rock that's unbreakable.
Imagine this , All of her friends died while fighting, she is the only one from her session. She looks at the moon, the new moon that her friends can't see, she takes another sip from the bottle, suddenly John starts playing the piano downstairs. What a beautiful song' she thinks as she stares at the stars alone......
This sounds almost like...if John decided to play the piano while Roxy is drunk sitting up 3 in the morning, just sitting there staring at the moon on top of her rooftop.
This song is beautiful. It's sad, it's happy, it makes you eye-tear a little bit, reminding yourself of all the moments, the people you met, the stories you heard, the hours you spent daydreaming about this webcomic. It's full of feelings. It's real.
okay but why do people always talk about how dirk was raised all alone, but never roxy? Sure they had difrent circumstances, but roxy's life seemed harder and required more work then dirks. People say that she was raised by the chess people, but Roxy was the one who feed them when they were hungry, took care of them, tried to save them from the miles, and even refused to hurt them when they attacked her. It just seemed like she had the burden of having to take care of them all her life
think it's interesting that it's two different types of isolation - self-centered isolation and the isolation that comes from having to participate in self sacrifice constantly
It was never given that she had to do all that - she chose to. Dirk never even had the chance to physically interact with another sentient being until he built one himself.

I find it amazing how Roxy manages to keep a positive outlook despite growing up alone and having her requests for a relationship denied by the only other human.
I just read The Great Gatsby and they talked about a sad-sounding waltz called Three O Clock in the Morning in one of the party scenes, and though technically this isn't a waltz it's now my headcannon. Also, the Three in the Morning dress is my headcannon for what Daisy was wearing.
Roxy is a character I relate to. I relate to her use of drinking as a coping mechanism but fighting through it. She had to grow up on her own. Without her mother. She also has a fondness for cats. I feel like if I sat down with her we would have a nice convo about life and cats :)

I'm pretty sure this is named after the 'Three In The Morning Dress' that Jade alchemizes, Snowman wears and Ms. Paint wears. Also, there's a version of this that is considered one of Snowman's themes.
Seriously though, what a year. Let’s simply hope that it does not set the tempo for the rest of the decade. Remember to keep hope and carry on, for the March of Time remains as a constant beat, and it is all we can do to keep stride with it.
As always with 3itM remixes, I like it. Combined with the album art it’s a very sad/bittersweet piece… I’m gonna learn this as soon as I can. I used to HATE Roxy, now it just seems like she needs a hug. Poor girl.
Maybe I'm a bit stupid for not knowing the answer to this question, but why are there lots of songs that appear on the Homestuck soundtrack, but I don't ever remember being in the comic?
I imagine this is slick attempting to play like he used to after.. well the end of the universe. Two metal limbs now, he's mourning over the loss of his crew, the loss of his city, his world, and yes, even HIS universe. Because as much as he hated that woman, she gave him a reason to live, even after his crew was gone. Now that shes gone, Slicks got nothing left. He was fully prepared to die, but for some reason, hussie wouldn't let him.
Well ,is it really a midnight crew song.I find it fits her more. Roxy appears to be the kind of girl to gaze at the houses,to watch over the chess people. Whether she is sober or not. I think she was often very lonely and sad,gazing outwards thinking about how she is alone,until she found out that another lived on the planet. One like her. It catches her personality,doens't it? She never asked for anything,never would,she would always give everything to all around her.
