Those old umbrella seals are always hard and crispy. When I did my 460 I changed the chain.Happy I did. It still had the original lower nylon timing chain sprocket . I also did rod and main bearings replaced original rear main rope seal. With lip seal.
Looking forward to the additional, unplanned videos. I think someone once said, "An engine is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll find until you open it up?"
Hi there, guys. It would be discouraging to find that the timing chain needed changing after putting that engine back on the road. It's those, "while you're there" deals that gets expensive, but makes that old Purolator oil filter TV ad where the repairman says, "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later", make perfect sense. Thanks for the videos, Jeff. Being a life long Ford guy makes me really appreciate the work you do on Fords, Ford...... I know, I know.
If you can hear that timing chain when you shake it with your finger you'll sure hear it when it's running. Not to mention the happy moment when the owner shifts between Drive and Reverse only to have the engine die and refuse to restart.
Hello there gents, I just caught this one, I sure do enjoy the banter, between the two of you. I know Cams a little camera shy, though I do get a kick 🦵 of the both of ya's.. That said, it's a "moral imperative" to quote "Real Genius", to do the chain and gaskets at least.. And who wants a burnt valve from a cracked exhaust manifold anyway.. Dive in, the waters fine, in "while yer there pond" !!! God bless !!!!
Subscribed to the Patreon. I find myself going to your channel to find info more and more lately. The latest one was the clutch fan. I bought the correct 19 1/2" one off of evilBay and was hoping to rebuild the clutch assembly. But after seeing your video on fans, I picked up the Vintage Air monster fan clutch. I was leaning towards electric fans but seeing so many of them go down while People are doing drag & drive events, that I've decided against them. It's tough to find replacement for high flow fans, while on the road. I'm planning on taking this car all over for events, so I wanted reliability. And with a 442ci FE, I can stand to loose 5hp or so ;) Also used you when I was looking for the "correct" color to paint my FE. Got the POR-15 Ford Corporate blue and it came out great. Anyways, keep up the good work, much love!
Late next month I've got a a mid 50's British Ford Popular 103E hot rod fitted with a 68 Mustang 302 with a weiland dual tunnel ram intake and dual Holley 390s. Cars been sitting for a while so just trying to get it up and running. It does start but doesn't run well at all so will be starting with the basics and working up from there.
@@AutoRestoMod that look on your face screams...... All new rotating assembly Hot tank the block Eddiebrock Rpm performance heads Just do it You're going to find more You know it I'd bet a Tuxedo Black Starliner with a 427 dual quad side oiler on it!!!!!
Hi, I was wondering about the F100, what did you decide is Barry Robotnik building a 390 for it? And congrats on the 100k about time. I tried to get everyone I know to subscribe. I even made my mom whose in her late 70s watch. She thinks Cam is adorable by the way.
We bought it on Amazon: 1100LBS 2 Stage Hydraulic Transmission Jack w/ 360 Degree Swivel Wheels Telescopic Lift Hoist The one we bought is not available under the link. But you can find one like it from other "manufacturers".
Not hard at all. The bore is the same, 4" for both, the 302 has an 1/8th inch longer stroke. But by the time you add it all up usually it's cheaper to find a decent 302 and just freshen it up, or better yet a roller 302 and pick up some "free" horsepower right from the start.
