I've been watching Aaron for a while now. Great captain, great channel. However, this is why he's a legend. Bro single-handedly took down one of the oceans top APEX predators. Unreal.
Lordie! Hell of a fish for solo work. What a monster sword. About 30 years ago I did some part time commercial fishing up in New England . Mostly pot fishing for scup, but also did quite a bit of offshore for mako and tuna. Made a few solo trips tuna trolling. At about 2:00 in your video I LOL'd. You move the gaff to the port side and the fish ends up on the stbd! Been there! Sweeeeet mahi.
haha thanks! Thats awesome, I wish we got a good run of the big tunas, thats pretty sweet! and LOL never a dull moment on the open ocean! thanks for watching! hope you enjoy the vids!
Aaron, you are the freaking man! You tell is in the title of this episode that it's 324lb., but yet you were guessing about 100lb. when he was still down. And I was thinking," wow, he's in for a big surprise! Did you keep him or sell him, and if you sold him, what did you get for him? Tight lines, Jerry
Respect, I solo a lot, just enjoy that piece of quietness. I landed my first solo bluefin tuna. Had couple trips this year for deep drop swords, no luck yet, once I get a hang of it, I will definitely solo a sword for sure
I've been watching your videos all night and I tell you what bro when I read 324 lb swordfish I was saying how's he going to get that in the boat and that was the best way that's what I would have did tied it off and ran it in good job man you are something else key West water man you are something else
I got tickled...when the first call was 100lbs.....then realized it was 3X that size....one hell of a fish and job catching him...can't imagine trying to boat a fish that is nearly the size of the boat...especially by yourself...well done Arron!!!
Nice catch!! I can only imagine how nerve wracking it must have been to catch it only to not be able to get it in the board. Nice job thinking on your feet. Thank you for making this video and others it is a great escape to watch. Thanks again.
If I lived down there I would go with you just to watch and help you when needed. I love watching all your videos and I will be waiting for the next one.stay safe
Had to comment on that swordfish video capt. Couldn't get over the fact that not only you did it by yourself but you had time for the drone footage .👍excellent work sir as always love the vids jealous in some ways that I still havent been out on the boat, but that's my problem not yours!. Keep up the good work sir
Amazing & Impressive & Envious plus much more. I have pictures of my G'pa who owned & operated a charter boat in the N.E. I still live in the same town. I have pictures of him with all the APEX predators and tuna and more. He would leave the docks in Niantic, Connecticut and head out past Montauk on a usual day. The fish were much closer to Montauk than they are now. I saw your Diving at Montauk video. You remind me of him quite a bit. Attitude wise that is. He would go out solo all the time. He caught lots of Swordfish ( when there were still lots of swordfish) around. His more impressive pic is of him and his 17 foot , 1200 lb Mako at the dock in Niantic river. I wish you the best of all things. I love your lifestyle and the way you fish, especially the catches you produce. With all due respect I love your lady as well. It must be so much fun to fish the way you do with Madeline being super supportive and actually going out with you. I bet all the guys you asked out that day are kicking themselves in the ass. One good thing is you don't have to worry on how to divide the fish up . PS.. Last week my buddy and I were fluking and black sea bass fishing out at Montauk . The action was slow and as we decided to move and a Brown Shark nailed my squid as soon as I lifted the rod, The rod was completely set up with 30 ib gear. Since they are protected we released him boat side totally unharmed. Except for a small hole in the corner of his mouth. We estimated the shark at about 200 lbs. An hour fight. What a blast. Watching you do your thing makes me respect you all the more. BTW.. Where can I find Tile Fish frames here in Connecticut ? pffft
I like watching your videos, impressive. I live in Miami Beach now ,but I used to live in old town for 9yrs. I was a mate for Johny potter down on character boat row for many years. I’d like to go fishing with you sometime.
That was EPIC work with everything going your way. Nice video and you are still at it. I'm up on Big Pine and you guys are where we used to live. Such good stuff you're making, keep at it!
You had me laughing so hard when you missed spearing that monster the first time. With the rod spinning around banging against the boat. And you looking up at the camera telling us this is why you don't do this solo. Truly epic for sure. Next time you need a partner just call me ill meet you and pay for fuel.......lol 😆
Came here after Kelly Young's vid and decided to subscribe and start from the bottom on up. This one was epic m8! Respect for doing it all by yourself :)
I kept seeing Spencer Tracy/Hemingway in Old Man and the Sea. Congratulations on the catch of a lifetime. Like catching a freight train with 100 lb test. Enough meat to feed all of Key West by the look of that massive predator. Can you sell it commercially? My hearty Congrats!
Your channel was recommended to me. About to watch through your vids. Only been to Key West once, but looking to do some more spearfishing down in Islamorada. Miss crystal clear waters and deep reefs. Looking forward to your content. Just subscribed.
Amazing accomplishment on your part, for sure. What also amazes me is the seemingly supernatural resilience of a critter like that. The thing was down at bone crushing depths at least twice. It'd be like throwing a human out of a space capsule...and they lived. Insane.
I know im a little late to the party, regardless, hell of a fish aaron! truly! It was a hell of a video for sure! I can only imagine how you felt when you finally got back to the dock with that monster by yourself!!!! Congrats brotha!
This was a fun one mahi fishing and swords all in the same trip. Would like to see if you can't replicate this except bring another person to help haha
@@KeyWestWaterman I'm a Florida boy too and I understand being out there by myself, great peace of mind. Watched you land that big Sword, awesome job.👍
Like you do with so many of your vids where you give proceeds of commercial sales, it would have been nice to know what this monster brought at the market.
when we get some good weather and time off im gonna make a more in-depth video of my sword fishing set up! its pretty basic the same one everyone uses!
@@KeyWestWaterman There is a boat here out of Texas that has mastered deep drop day time sword fishing. These guys have set all kinds of records even catching their 1000 fish a few yrs ago. Sometimes catching and releasing over 20 a trip. Watching their videos is what go me fired up about catching one. I have caught alot of the other billfish minus a sword and a black. I want the sword. Those Texas guys have a RU-vid channel its Boobytrap sportfishing I believe. You guys stay safe from the approaching storm. Good luck and tight lines brother....
Thank God for the auto reel, did I hear 1500 ft. At one point.? All by yourself? Risky but well done. And who said fish were not smart.thanks for the entertainment. If I come into some serious $$, I would love Togo fishing with you, thanks Bearhunter5
Nice video. I don't know much about deep dropping. Can you tell me how the weight is attached to your line? Could not tell when you released it from the line. Thanks
@@KeyWestWaterman I can only imagine, Very nice!! You are making some kick ass vids!! Keep it up and coming!!!! Lived in BPK for 14 yrs, had to move back to Jax and oh so much miss spearing and fishing!!!!
Buddy, I went to the very beginning. I get the bun when your diving but you gotta bring back the hair. I’d sell one of my kids for hair that good! Let that shit fly more often! Nice sword.
