I don't think he would take both Eze & Maddison when you've got Foden, Palmer & Bellingham ahead of them. I imagine he would take Gordon instead, just for the pace aspect really. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Dunk the one included.
I think he will take grealish because of his "big game" experience, plus he can win you a lot of free kicks and eat up a lot of time if you are holding on a bit. other than that i pretty much agree with you
Gordon has to go bcs it was between him or Rashford. Similar sort of profile. Knowing Southgate the players who haven’t played for England yet won’t go. Trafford,Quansah,Branthwaite,Wharton,Jones. Also Bowen,Eze,Maddison … one of them goes to the euros. Unless there’s injuries or Shaw isn’t fit I think the rest are nailed on.
Gordon 100% goes lmao unless he gets injured - he's in contention to start. I can't believe you think he won't be in the squad after performing so well for newcastle and in the last international break. One of Toney or Bowen don't make it for me.
Can't see any point in taking Shaw. He'll likely miss the cut which leaves us with no designated left back. We need to ditch fullbacks and go for a 3-2-4-1 system utilising our strengths, which are in attack. Here's my team in that formation: Pickford, Stones, Maguire, Branthwaite, Rice, Mainoo, Saka, Bellingham, Foden, Palmer, Kane. I picked Maguire because Southgate tends to never leave him out. I'd have preferred Ben White in there but that's not happening.
Maguires had a good season in a united team that's struggled, we have surprisingly conceded less goals when he's played, including a month that United didn't concede a single league goal. He's been pretty reliable for England even during his seasons off form for United.
Also Foden is way better central than on the left so if Southgate does decide to use Foden as a 10 instead of on the left then that would leave a space for Grealish.
Trafford, Dunk, Konsa, Wharton, Guehi, Gomez, Curtis Jones. Too many unnecessary centre backs in that squad. Stones, Maguire, Branthwaite and Quansah are more than enough.
Bowen, trafford, dunk, Maddison. Then between either jones/wharton. Grealish/eze. Guehi/quansah. The first 4 aren’t needed, in no world does Bowen get minutes when you have Saka, palmer & foden who can play on the right ahead of him.
The Shaw pick makes zero sense from southgate and I think we have too many world class attackers. I just hope he plays Jude in an attacking role so he’s not sitting back again .
