I believe that he was disciplined at the time for not following the prescribed procedure - nice to see his actions which saved Carlisle station from appalling destruction and possibly deaths and injuries suitably recognised.
- - and Braunton, I believe, caused further delays by setting fire to the grassland between the S&C and Tyne Valley lines. An interesting day all round. Nothing this weekend but the Garden of Cosmic Speculation, across the river from me, is holding its annual open weekend. Not going - too crowded and expensive - but might get some aerial footage, weather permitting. Not allowed to overfly but OK to fly outside the event. Watch this space!
@@schoolshorts somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit but the crowds put me off. I’ll find out about the trackside fire, K was working that day so should know.
A few snap shots LOL. A lot of good video altogether with 3 videos of what turned out a very unusual day. The problems were not over after your train departed, soon they announced my train was to be delayed by 20 minutes due to a lineside fire. It turned out not to be as long, only 10 minutes, and after loosing more time, we made our final stop just 8 late. The fire was in the grass between the Newcastle line and S&C. Braunton would be opened up around there after going through the junction.
- - - and if I HAD flown the drone I might just have caught Braunton setting fire to the grass! Now that would have been something different. Glad you made it home without too long a delay
@@schoolshorts It was about on the limit of where you flew to before Not sure how long after the fire got started, someone must of seen it and reported it I guess a Newcastle train driver as they let one go there before we were due to leave. The delay made no difference to getting a bus as I had a 40 mins wait and it did turn up this time.
