Doug should have never invited Ally b/c he know Ste doesn't like him and he was not a friend of Riley's. To be honest Ally and Riley didn't really even know each other so Doug was completely out of order for inviting Ally.
Im just laughing so hard when Brendan walked in and he looks so out of place, and these guys, they were just looking at him strangely like 'what are you even doing here?!' and Brendan just tried to ignore the stares while trying to act cool about the obvious hate he's receiving. Its soo funny! Then I got sad when he was told to get out at the end. Oh BB, dont worry, we still love you loads.
their pain is killing me inside... they obviously, desperately need eachother AND GO STE !!!,,Woww that was unexpectedly amazing, everything was perfect in that defending scene and ste's face while holding rings tells the truth
And what can we say of Brendan's entire history? He's been nothing but a ruthless, cold-blooded murderer dealing in drugs and crimes. Your description of Doug fits Brendan even better. It seems to me there was nothing Brendan wouldn't do for money. Now that we are seeing Ste's violent streak return, we can remember how volatile he was as well. He beat Amy, lest we forget, and was involved in crimes himself. All these characters are broken in their own ways, but Brendan is just beyond reprieve.
I like tough Ste! Its obvious Doug doesn't know this side of Ste or he thought that part of him would never surface again. Also Ste's face when looking at the rings said a lot!
yup totally agree. I thought as frined Ste and Doug are opposites but their struggles makes it their mutual grounds. i thought it would work too as a couple but even in this episode you can tell how different they are. I always though Ste and Brendan compliment each other more. they understand each other on a level no one else does, thats why Ste can speak Brendans mind without him saying anything. Even if it wasn't Brendan I would want to see the same as well.
My god, ally, tony, Darren, Doug and dodger are all pricks. Brendan buys them drinks and bitch about it? (I thought that ste being the only one accepting the drink was adorable though) And if I were ste, I'd be like "Doug Is the one who worked with walker, almost got me killed and Brendan saved me." But I'm glad he still stood up for Brendan in a way though
yes, I loved him and justin friendship and Dom. He always been aggressive but not intentional about it (if you get what I am saying) He speaks his mind, especially when he is vulnerable about something. he tend to be more emotion driven. he is so perfectly flawed and tries to be the best he can and great dad. he is my favorite hollyoaks character overall and he has come such a long way. I always say He and brendan are more alike no the violent aspect but personality wise.
Agreed. Ideally, this would be a chance for Doug to learn more about Ste's past, hopefully bringing them closer together. However, considering how rocky their relationship has been lately, I am going to assume this is just another nail in the coffin for Stug.
This is so prejudiced I can't even deal with:1.Ste being a bottom doesn't make him weak; 2. It doesn't make him any less of a man. There r people who enjoy to top, others to bottom, others doing both, and that's that; 3.Ste is weak against BB out of his own traumas and BB's intimidation and violence towards him, nothing to do with his preferences in bed;4.Saying Ste is "being a woman" is no less offensive to women than saying he is "being a fag". The word WOMAN is not a synonym for weak.
also Thank the lord the writers actually tie up something that I and some of us saw. We always say Ste has no friends and such and it was one of the reasons I was happy Doug got involve with the Deli but they made him his bf instead. ppl who say Ste is going backward don't know the character as much. he has change alot but he always been like this and not afraid to hide how he feels or to say what he wants.
I agree. I was so glad when Syed's dad told him off recently. It sounded harsh, but it needed to be said. On another note, Thanks emmettscanlanfans for your continued efforta to bring us this storyline. It's a daily treat I look forward to.
I know right! Reading comments really make me question what people expect out of relationships. Doug may be insecure and broken, but he's only gone out of his way to make Ste happy. I just don't understand how people can call Doug an "charlatan" but continually fawn over Brendan as though he is already a changed man or deserving of another chance. Doug has done questionable things in the past, but only to help his relationship with Ste. That's way more than we can say for Brendan. What a farce!
They pissed me off. First with forcing Ste to hang around Ally, even after the confrontation. Then with them getting pissy that Brendan was in the pub. If I am not mistaken he was there first.
well brendan killed for ste and I can recall other situations where brendan was selfless for ste. doug never was though because what he did for ste was something that he did to have benefits for himself too, honestly I can't recall a single act that doug did just and only for ste. @anyusa explained the situation perfectly.
Also, Doug is not being fair. I know he thinks he doing good but he doesn't think. Ste didn't call his parents once or pressure him to seeing them. Did or could he atleast thought the same concern for Ste in that sense before calling his mom? just like him she may not know he is gay so he could thought about it before calling her.
I had hoped spoilers were FORBIDDEN. Don't appreciate you posting this at all. Many of us prefer to be surprised how a story turns out . Please keep your future posts to stuff that's already happened.
WRONG! ste doesn't want anything from doug and by the looks of this episode he doesn't even want DOUG(HIMSELF) doug is the one wanting to much at the point were he wants someone who doesn't love him with his whole heart to love him, he wants someone who's never really wanted to get married to marry him. and he wants him to be happy in their relationship which neither of them are.
me too, he tries to curve what he wants to say to Doug and has to hid to be nice to brendan not to deal with Doug insecurities. even when he lashed out on Doug that is how he is till he calms down.
I see Doug still blaming Brendan for Rileys death, he still not mature enough to see that he himself is more at fault than Brendan for Rileys death, and if werent for Brendan Ste would be dead!! i bet Doug would have blamed Brendan for that too...How dare he tell Brendan to leave the pub like that!!! some nerve he has!!
@Ihola29 Absolutely! You nailed it! Anyone else is a total substituue for Brendan! It was clearly evident by the way he longs for him when Brendan visited him at the deli (looking so fine in his beautiful shirts) and he called out to Brendan as Brendan was leaving. Then on top of that he asked why he slept with that twit, Eggnut. He looked at Brendan like he was about to kiss him, but as usual whiney Doug ruined it by showing up. Ste needs to man up and claim Brendan and tell him how he feels.
Ally winds everyone up, even Doug a couple of times about Ste and Amy. I'm not sure if he went verbally at Doug about Ste and Brendan but Ally has been digging holes in Steven's relationships whenever he could for a long time. I know he was upset when Ste sussed him out sooner than some but I don't really care for Ally enough to try to figure him out.
Some marriages last a lifetime bcoz they had lived long enough to build their life around each other and they've reach this certainty about themselves and their partners. Then they propose marriage not while in between figuring where their relationship goes but more bcoz they already knew where they were heading to, and there's consensus from both people. They dont go into marriage when they're in the midst of doubt & uncertainty about each other, and Stug definitely is in it still.
I agree, I know he didnt mean it but my problem is that, he didnt think to wonder if she knew he was gay or not. just like he didnt told his parents. He could have ask him indirectly and call Amy to bring the kids instead.
i keep revisiting the JP ad Craig days....i can not stand that they are going to spoil such a perfect ending after months of hardship. What a pitty.....
Poor Doug...he is trying to hold on to someone that he loves that has not told him about his past. He is thinking that he is doing the right thing as all he knows is that Ste is moaning about not having any family support so as a loving partner is is trying to provide that for him...by calling Ste's mum. I do not think that Doug would have called his mother if he was fully aware of their relationship. He just wants him to be happy. Why keep your past a secrate??
p.s when you tell someone that you like them as more than just friends and you want to have a relationship with them(like doug did to ste) well ste has some sort of right to want to have a relationship with someone who is out and proud, he didn't force doug to come out he just said that he wasn't going back in! and he told doug to take it or leave it "lest we forget". no chains or guns were used in the process of dougs coming out!
I think the most passionate, yet volatile, couple on Hollyoaks was John Paul and Craig. It was because of them that I started watching this show. I would love to see them back on the show together and in love. Or, at least have another couple that got together like they did. Doug and Ste began kind of like that when Doug didn't want to come out, but there wasn't any volatile lust going on like JP & C... Great couple!!
@anyusa0030 Can I ask you why you always write "as" instead of "has?" I'm just curious. Trying to make sure I write the right way everyone writes here. Thanks.
@Itsonlyyouable Hey friend, is it me or was it hysterical when Ste said, "Kids!" when he was calling out for them knowing full well they weren't there? Too damn funny!
Am I the only one happy to see old Ste again? I am not talking about pairings. But while with Doug Ste lost his edge, his conflicts.Ste is a complex character with a shitty past, who has a good heart but makes wrong decisions. He is always fighting against other people's image of him, because people always think less of him. Cookie cutter Ste wasn't doing it for me.
your telling me! i've been watching these things since i was in highschool and i've finally come to the conclusion that just like doug am a glutten for punishment!:)
Crazy that four of the men in this clip are gay in real life - Ste, Doug, Ally, and Rhys. That seems like something that doesn't happen too often in non-strictly gay media.
@Itsonlyyouable Yeah, I thought that was hysterical and glad you thought so too. Your observation that both Brendan and Ste are feeling like outcasts is spot on! Exactly what I was thinking! Which is perfect alignment of the universe, sort of speaking, which will bring both of them together as they should be. They both already know they need, want and love each other, they just have to man up and go to each other. It's evident that Ste doesn't want to marry D, why would he since he's in love w/B
@dodido1380 yes, their pain is a symptom of them desperately needing each other...so so angsty. If they only had each other, to paraphrase Brendan "they survive". Get it together soon, boys! My heart can't take much more. And when Ste said "I have no one", that spoke volumes seeing that he's getting married soon. His heart wants-no needs Brendan and vice versa.
why doesn't doug just dump ste then? no he has to plot against brendan and make constant remarks to ste, why? why he proposed to ste in the first place? doug is ridicuolus wanting someone that clearly doesn't love him like aboyfriend should do
Its so weird dat Ste isn't up on d cloud nine about his imminent marriage to Doug. Instead of feeling right & secure about it, he has to lash out at Doug about his thoughts of being alone even tho he has a partner. Its like this whole marriage is more of a burden/necessity to prolong their relationship, rather dan getting married wen you found that someone who's your equal partner. I dont know, or Neil Patrick and David Burtka just made it look too easy & were just too good to be true. ^_^
perfect comment! lately they really gave him a personality transplant with doug and picnic o the floor...now I can see the real ste, he will always be a little chavy
You are all right...but he is not thinking stright, lol...so to speak...he is desprate and just wants to make him happy. It is when ste starts speaking about his parents is what i thjnk made doug think of calling his.mother. We have all made that ine call that we should'nt have!
Couldn't agreed more. It's not going to end well. Specially if Brendam comforts Ste, i think that Ste and Doug will have some issues and poor Ste, to have to handle with her after those already dramas
@anyusa0030 You're hysterical! So funny! But please note that it wasn't a criticism, just wanted to know if that is the lingo I should use or not. Again, not a criticism. You're funny and thanks for answering my question - very sweet of you.
stendan story was never just about violence though and brendan was never totally evil so I don't think they are changing characters unless you are talking about doug since he found out he was gay he was a tital different guy
Blatently obvious now that Doug knows nothing about Ste, and that's sad really. You really should know the person you're gonna marry. I'm sure it happens all the time. They are so mismatched, it's sad.
44Michellef Right on! Tell it like it is! Totally agree with you! Hard heads make for soft behinds! Ally and Doug are going to have their asses handed to them if they keep messing with Ste because Brendan is loyal and will not allow NO ONE to mess with Ste. This is Brendan's greatest quality - unflinching loyality!
Doug is doing the mistake of his live with the call phone, he send Ste into Brendan's arms directly. Ste is about to have his past slaps him in his face and it will be ugly.
@sonnytheant Thanks for agreeing with me. Yes, it might have seemed harsh but Syed needed to be told off and set straight (pardon the pun) by his father. Syed plays with peoples' lifes without regard of the consequences to them and then whines, like Doug, like he's the victim and wants others to rescue him. BTW, I think it's very sweet of you to thank emmettscanlanfans (I concur) for bringing us such a wonderful SL. I too love it and look forward to it daily, plus all the nice folks here!
yea possibility, you thinking he stole it or something ? but I was thinking more, he got the rings didn't tell Ste lol. shouldn't they have done that together. I can see why Ste may feel pressure and I mean that in the sense. Ste does not like ppl pressure him into things. who can read it on his face.
