Thanks for this video! I had no idea that during these shifts, doctors could be expected to cover multiple hospitals so mad props! As someone who is planning on transitioning to the nursing field, I love seeing the transparency of different careers in the medical field as it truly makes you appreciate even more what people do in these roles. Keep it up!

I just realized Kevin is doing his residency at the same hospital that I work at. I thought I saw him once in the cafeteria, but I wasn’t sure if it was him because he had his mask on. Btw, I hope they never fix the lights on that elevator 😊.

As a premed student, i have genuine question. Is it really justifiable to work for long hours? I mean we're humans, we get tired and it's unhealthy and how can we ensure the safety of our patient if we ourselves are not healthy?

@@ezahh there are not enough doctors and so there is no choice but to overwork to take care of patients. There aren't enough doctors because there isn't enough federal funding for residency spots in hospitals. In other words, unless medicaid gets more funding, which is not gonna happen because of politics, doctors will always have to overwork.

It’s really interesting that in Australia the name ‘surgeon’ is reserved for consultants (attendings) only. No one below that would use surgeon to describe themselves as all training must be completed before using it. Intern, resident, registrar are used.
