This episode of Power Hour looks at the process of creating in-game 3D character assets typical of a top-down-view MOBA like League.
In this hypothetical (and experimental) exercise, Intern-turned-Rioter and character artist extraordinaire Annie Kwon (of League’s PIE/skins team) picks up where we left off in Episode 1…by fleshing out Thomas Randby’s glorious Big-Top Caitlyn concept art, and bringing her into full 3D space, using the standard processes, toolsets, and gameplay-based considerations that Riot artists leverage every day.

Key takeaways: - Put yourself in the public, and be ready to accept criticism. - Ask what other team members need, to make the workflow easier. - Watch other paints, and learn new tiny things, like infinite bouncing of gold light. - Use slightly different hue when painting shadow, so the object is not locked to one color. - Research the narrative and the technical requirements before working on the art.

Who would have thought. Final Fantasy comes around even in here. Same experiences :D So only texture is base color and maybe normal correct? Also I would guess the concept artist would make a orthograph of the concept so that the 3d artist doesn't have to guess work / improvise when making the model? Oh and now I probably get why you would create the shadows. It's because the game itself doesn't cast any shadows? Even the light is "baked"? Interesting to see some workflow though ^^ Inspirational. muy bonito ¿pero cuando arreglan las clasificatorias? es difícil salir de oro cuando en 3 partidas seguidas mi adc termina 0/7 sé que pedir que el mmr funcione bien y te pongan gente que de verdad es de tu elo es pedir demaciado, pero minimo que si tuviste un típico draven 2/14/ no te bajen la mitad los pl de una sola derrota en serio, se siente como si perdieras más pl de una derrota de los que ganas de 3 victorias seguidas
