3dcoat is a professional sculpting and texturing tool sold at a cheap price. its volume and pixel (voxel) combination works better and faster than polygonal mesh. if you are looking for a sculpting alternative to blender or Zbrush, then 3d coat is the way to go.

. It's was only three days ago I realise a key on the mixer has been tuned over it's limit but the overall volume was at normal so thought the sound isn't loud, you could hear distortion. Uh, the mixer played me. Thanks so much for your feedback.

3d coat is an amazing software love it! i use 3ds max along side 3d coat as my main workflow, just makes the whole process a piece of cake, super smooth. i have zbrush but it just sits there collecting dust because when comparing 3d coat to it, 3d coat can do so much more that it becomes a bit boring having to use zbrush. 3d coat is very user friendly, easy to understand interface, to the point basically, i don't know why is not as popular because is an amazing software! also it's UV tools their just at another level that i use no other tools to UV my assets. just love this thing so much man.

Agree the scale and import/export is a real pain in 3d coat!

Pilgway biggest weakness is marketing and tutorials and when your a new user there is no quick series of videos that will put you up to speed!

Yeah so true. A lot of people seem to complain about that. Am hoping a time would come where they would take off like blender but I don't think there is much time because blender is getting better and it's free which makes the competition a bit dicier for 3d coat though they both take different approach to scultping. 3dcoat doesn't have that grace period blender had while growing. People aren't wanting to wait for a better future these days, they want the future now so 3d coat has to restrategize their game. It's a great software and should be looked at again in terms of marketing and tutorials.

@@3D_Review Agree blender is advancing very fast and when painting, retopo, baking and sculpting will be on par with other softwares then it will become a very small market.

Everytime I try to do something in 3Dcoat it's half an hour of crawling through forum posts and 3 digits views youtube tutorials

GREAT software i feels like I'm drawing when i make my ships and vehicles. i thought the answer would be the quick tools add-ons from blender or the hard ops package...both tools are nice but this tool...3d coat felt the best and was the easiest to figure out...except for having to search for how to load alternative lasso options "E" is your answer BTW.

i'm learning the basics of 3d coat, but i still don't know when to use it instead the traditional apps (i use blender, max and zbrush). what do you say? whats the place of 3d coat in the workflow?, thanks for your videos!

Blender and Zbrush is a deadly combo. The only thing 3dcoat can offer in your pipeline would be uv mapping but blender does that so there would be no need for 3d coat The only reason someone would choose 3d over zbrush would have to be because of 1. Voxel speedscultping 2.texturing 3.UV mapping Now blender does all of the three I mentioned and also blender is free so you are good with your current setup.

No one talks about 3DCoat because its just annoying to use. Have been using it for making UV's for years and never got into anything else, except for some retopology. It does not matter what is can do if the workflow is unknown and confusing. Import a mesh for "retopo" into the retopo room, click "auto" on the left and nothing happens, right click and choose ""autorepo"" nothing happens. Your mesh appears on the side as "volume 15" instead of the a name. Today I tried the newest version and vertex snapping is broken. Last week I was making hand UV's and noticed the path tool was deforming the mesh. Basic stuff should never break. And no tutorials, nothing other that 30sec of feature videos.

If you type "3D-Coat tutorial" in RU-vid search, more than enough appear. The UI is a bit unique but compared to ZBrush it is much better organised, although I love and use ZBrush daily. With so many text hints inside 3D-Coat you can't go wrong. It has bugs but nothing crazy.

yeaa blender is almost a complete suit but still falls behind in some areas and thats where 3d coat shine. since 3d coat is cheap, i would advice you complement blender with 3d coat for better texturing and UV mapping

Blender's sculpting is good, but 3DCoat is more performant due to the voxel renderer. Also Blender's texture painting is very basic. Some 3rd party addons add features to it, but even then it still pales in comparison to other programs.

Looking at what 3d coat has to offer and comparing it to how far the company is willing to promote it, I would say they are a lazy company. I still use it but very hard to find tutorials or even courses on the exact problem you are encojntering.. I would be glad if you do more technical videos on it. How to make it run smoothly. I think there is a problem with the mac version and also graphics card problem. Great software, lazy company
