Thank you for a simple explanation. I had been trying for hours, other videos talk about using 4 different software programs together or proprietary addons and I knew there had to be a better way!

If you want to have a more smooth surface (remove spikes), and don't mind losing some precision. You can convert the pointcloud to a mesh in cloud compare, smooth that mesh and then convert it back to a pointcloud before inserting it into Revit.
