Great job! I ordered my printer today and can’t wait to get started.

Nice job! I'm the same way... Just because it's a functional print doesn't mean it can't be pretty.

If you are cross feeding by hand, you can engage the threading (as long as its not turning) and back up the saddle to take out the backlash. Faster than engaging the saddle lock. I'm waiting for the delivery of my first 3D printer and will have a look at this as a solution.

Thx for the idea. Wouldn't you though be limited in the Z axis by the positions you can engage the half-nuts in ?

@@FunctionalPrintFriday I set the saddle in position and engage the threading on the lead screw. Then back peddle on the saddle wheel to set the saddle as far back as possible and get rid of the backlash. Then I use the top slide and cross slide to do the cutting as normal. You can only engage the feed screw on my lathe at 1/4" intervals as its 4 threads per inch.

I like this solution a lot!

Thanks! I have a bunch more prints coming up that are lathe related, just trying not to overwhelm my subscribers that aren't into machining.

I fully understand - I’ll be happy to follow along and watch for those projects when they occur. 👍

That was cool. I'm glad you redid the design. I did like the inset one, but I thought you'd eventually start accumulate swarf and have to keep it clean. Where on the East Coast are you? Ciao, Marco.

10:42 please don’t vacuum sparks in the vac if you also use it for wood or other flammable materials. This could start a fire.
@FunctionalPrintFriday

Good point. Maybe I could rig up a bucket with water in the bottom and a baffle to put between the pickup hose and vacuum.

Surprised you went for the belt grinder when you could have faced it off and chamfered it in your nice lathe!

@@FunctionalPrintFridaythe three jaw would have worked, no? I am new to machining so still learning the basics 😀

the problem with those wera wrenches is the diameter of the colored plastic. cant get them through tight holes (had this a lot assembling my Voron 0).

I have occasionally run into this and had to go into the bin of other keys for those instances.

This look cool. Did you print the body, then the letters and press the letters into the body? Or did you use a double printer head. I cannot work out how to get the letters to fit in the body by printing separately. I am so new to 3D printing. Cheers.

@@FunctionalPrintFridayThank you for your reply. I certainly didn't realize it is so labor intensive. I would surely love to see a video for this process.
