The big brother of our classic looking bush plane design is finally here! A 1.5 metre wingspan, sturdy landing gear (with huge all terrain tundra tyres), independent flaps and interchangeable floats are some of the main features of this plane. The bigger size makes the aircraft much easier to fly compared with the original Model B. This, together with the simple and sturdy landing gear concept, makes this aircraft one of our best trainers. Keep in mind that this is not just a scaled design of our well known Model B. The Model B XL has been designed from scratch implementing the latest design concepts including compatibility with the "spiralize outer contour/vase mode" option; the newest printing category B2. Furthermore, the aerodynamics have been revised to improve the aircraft’s safety and performance.

Great looking design, and nice size for a scale bush plane.

Great looking... Maybe a few "rough" landings to see how durable it is?

How long does it takes to Print one tundra wheel? It give me more than 12 hs each, that’s ok?

I wish you guys would stick with one or two sizes of carbon rods One takes 6m another uses 8 then 10 then 3 ect. I buy Bundles at a time and would like to use them on more than one plane.

Each airplane size has its needs. It is impossible to standardise carbon fiber rods.

It would also be nice if they'd use standard carbon fiber arrow shafts instead of custom tube sizes. As most people can go to their local sporting goods store and buy arrows at reasonable cost, but carbon tubes have to be ordered and can be expensive and hard to find sometimes. Honestly, sourcing these carbon tubes is one of the biggest deterrents to building these 3D printed planes.

@@eclipsonairplanes does it have to be carbon fiber? was thinking of trying to find maybe thin wall aluminum.
@eclipsonairplanes
@eclipsonairplanes 9 месяцев назад
@@jasonhurdlow6607 We use always use standard diameter sizes for CF tubes (D8, D6..), not customized at all. I understand they are expensive but it is totally required to provide enough strength, the good news is that you can use them in other planes or after the plane because they are not glued.
@eclipsonairplanes
@eclipsonairplanes 9 месяцев назад
@@dudebro2288 You can use aluminium, even wood, but obviously the strength will be lower.

Float plane, but I would love to see an actual seaplane, hull in the water! 😊

Great build video, like the close-up shots. For the floats do they require some sort of sealant to make them waterproof ?
@eclipsonairplanes
@eclipsonairplanes 8 месяцев назад
Thanks. Yes it is recomendable to at least paint it with spray.
@jasonhurdlow6607
@jasonhurdlow6607 9 месяцев назад
Are you doing any sort of sealing coat on the floats to keep them waterproof? Printed PLA is typically somewhat porous and would leak.
@eclipsonairplanes
@eclipsonairplanes 9 месяцев назад
Yes, paint or spray sealant helps to make sure it is totally waterproof.

Are there illustrated or written build instructions? I am having trouble with a few parts that aren't well explained on the diagram.

This model B gained a lot of weight( 1300g) compared to the original model B it would be nice, if the stall speed would be similar
@eclipsonairplanes
@eclipsonairplanes 9 месяцев назад
This model is much bigger than the original, that is why it is heavier. The Xl is much easier to fly compared with the original model B. Bigger size means more Reynolds number and more inertia which make the plane more docile.

Could enjoy these videos more with less music and more talking. IE no music, just talking about the products and steps.
