Couldn’t have asked for a better evening to test fly! First time I’ve seen the assembly process of a 3D model. Ingenious methods to make it strong. Going to have to give a printed model a try, I still have a lot of balsa in my blood but maybe some new blood is what I need. Impressive!
@ripmax333
@ripmax333 2 года назад
haha same here, I trying 3D printing too but Balsa will still remain in my blood, the only drawback of 3D printed models is the lack of resistance to heat. I think once they figure it out and come up with a solution balsa wood models will slowly fade away.

This is amazing. I need to know. How cost effective is this, vs. buying a kit around this size? I love this stuff and am entertaining the idea of a 3d printer! Also, where did you get the file from? Did you model this yourself? If so, what software (I currently use Blender)? Also, if so, how in the world did you come up with all the dimensions/screw placement/parts, etc? Was it simply modeled after an existing kit you already had on hand?

That looks like a really nice build. I liked the way the landing gear is hold in place and also the rigging. I already have the S12 Beast from E-Flight, and it's one of my favorites. You should definitely try some pattern flying, it is fun with that one, 3D and F3A too. It also looks wonderful 🙃

Do you think it’s possible to print this at 1/2 scale? I have the STL from eclipson, but I don’t have enough printing experience to know if it will work at 1/2 scale. If it will then it’ll have a wingspan of 600mm and be powered by the “millennium flerken” power pack. I imagine a tiny biplane trainer that could fly for 15 minutes with a 3s 2200.

Absolutely SUPERB! I'm just wondering why the cowl is shaped more like a Yak, rather than the traditional Pitts, side-vent version (to accommodate an opposed, boxer-style motor). Also surprised there's no spars in the wings. But, it flew great. Nice job! As always, thanks much for sharing. Steve

Troy, I am building this and have a problem with the wing ends 4L and R upper and lower. The instruction have no layers for them but it leave a hole at the top front of each one. the G code has top layers, but when I print it there is some much extra all over it because of the layer. I'm use a prusa slicer and printer, is there some other setting to fill in the hole without the extra it is making my walls thinner when it goes back to the next layer? thanks Parry

Is Can u recommend a similiar size motor in that size range listed in case I need a bit more power Thank you for a reply .

Excellent video. I found one interesting piece of information. Although I followed your instructions on configuring CURA to slice STL files I found that printing directly from the Epsilon G-codes provided a far superior 3D print result. That is to say that I have printed this plane twice, once with slicing STLs and the other with direct loading of G-code files from Epsilon. Is there a way to see the settings Epsilon used to create the G-codes from the STLs?

Troy, your parts are printing amazing! What is your #1 goto printer for wings and the larger fuselage parts? Also, do you think filament brands make that much of a difference? I have the Sovol SV03, which is a large printer, but the build quality often times just isn't there. I am typically printing the Eclipson planes in PETG, but with like a .03mm wall. I like the strength of the PETG, but do you think it's worth the trouble? I really haven't tried the LW-PLA. I like your list of printers. Which one, though, would you not want to live without? I also have a little Ender 3 that I can use for wheels, and small parts. Maybe I should enclose the sovol. I haven't tried that yet either. It seems that the parts warp after printing, when they are cooling down.
