i use substance painter as well and i can say i think coat has more tools for painting and they are as or more sophisticated than painter. the smart material construction menu is cool but visually a bit cluttered. it really needs its own panel so you can dock it and give it the screen real estate it deserves. but other than that...
I think if 3DCoat is really concerned about driving adoption then this is a help, but it's no replacement for: - a proper ground up wholesale review and redesign of the UI - a focus on helping users of other software (e.g. ZBrush, Substance Painter, even Blender at this point) make the leap more easily - some effort on rehabilitating the brand a bit, particularly re: the religious stuff which remains a sticking point for some
Complete redesign of UI's are relatively rare, when you survey the landscape of 3D Software, and this is for a good reason. It is a vast undertaking, and was already done with the release of 3DCoat V3 over a decade ago. The userbase asked for a UI layout that was similar to Photoshop (for the sake of familiarity), and that is what we delivered. We have made a lot of improvements to the UI, especially since 3DCoat 2021, and will continue to do so. However, a rewrite is not in our plans.
@@PILGWAY3DCoat fully understand the reasons of course... my point is that it's pretty clear from the niche position 3DCoat still has Vs others, that unless some bigger changes are considered, the tool will probably always struggle to regain momentum. There are lots of good things about 3DCoat but it's clear there are some barriers to adoption that need addressing... I suspect the UI is one, and I mentioned a couple of others.
@@PILGWAY3DCoat I can absolutely agree with chimpana here. I am giving 3DCoat a chance every major release but the UI ... I cant get use to it simply. Perhaps its on me, perhaps I should adapt. I sure will keep on trying! Thank you for learning version its absolutely wonderful that I can legally keep on trying to learn 3DCoat for free.
I’m still using a version I bought 5 years ago. Not a lot has changed in the UI department. I’ll buy again when they update the UI , it’s showing its age.
Which 3D application besides Blender has totally rewritten it's UI recently? There was a considerable amount of work done to improve the UI since the release of 3DCoat 2021, and more improvement is planned. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YGMl81KhPvc.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WzdQW1B5zys.html
Not that I am aware of. Please save a screen grab of this issue and attach that to an email to support@pilgway.com, requesting the option to scale Space Bar Menu. I will pass it on, but direct user requests sometimes get more attention than a staff member passing it on, second hand.
@@sqwert654 no they are both bad. Zbrush has the advantage bc you really only need 1 panel open or just custom ui and put ur button and brushes where u want. 3dcoat is a ui cluster n dialog description paragraph.
Not currently, but feel free to email support@pilgway.com to make that request. Nevertheless, you can access your tools via the SPACE bar menu, where it appears directly beneath your cursor. Additionally, you can move panels from the right column and place them to the left of the Tool Panel, if you prefer to have them located together. Lastly, you can store your most frequently used tools in the PRESETS panel and dock that just about anywhere you like. In this way, it is effectively a Customized Tool Panel
