In this tutorial I demonstrate how to tie the base knot for many of the turk's head bracelets.
We are going to tie a long, 4 bight turk's head for the base.
I used a mandrel about 5 or 6 mm in diameter which would be about 1/4 of an inch.
For the cord I used type I paracord.
As far as the length of the cord, it was about 10.5 to 11 feet long.

EXCELLENT tutorial, Marko! ... I'd recommend keeping the cord loose on the mandrel, and straightening the Xs at the end. Been there. Didn't do that. : )

I would love to see a Tutorial of you doing this on a larger mandrel, When i make one using a larger mandrel it doesn't quite look as good.

Yours is the second tutorial I've watched on this weave. The first one was shown but there was no speaking. When I was done watching the other video I thought I understood but watching your video with the spoken instructions I realize I was completely lost! Lol Your tutorial was much better for teaching purposes! Thanx! I would like to see if I could do this weave with jewelry wire?

One thing that you failed to mention is tensioning Marko. The wrappings MUST be done loosely as each subsequent pass will tighten things up exponentially. This happens fairly quickly too.

This is true. Working it loose is a good idea. I usually just slide the knot on a smaller mandrel though, much faster :). Mark

Mark, I made this on a 1.25 inch PVC pipe using 325 paracord. Worked great for covering a hatchet handle. Now I want to try it using #95 paracord. Is there a way to make it using 12 or even 16 bights so I have fewer gaps?

Hey there! Indeed there is! Take a look at this, it should help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--sSCKhQCARc.html You can also double or triple the knot! Mark
