#4 Controlling The Decals - Unreal Engine 4 Spline Decals Generator

In this Unreal Engine 4 tutorial series I'll show you how I have created a tool for placing decals along a spline automatically. The spline will snap to the ground will have some controls over the decals type, size, spread and more! This is series might be a little more advanced but I'll do my best to keep everything easy to digest :)
In this part we give ourselves some control over the decals!

For anyone who missed how he groups the variables under "Decal Setup", you create a new category by selecting one of the variables and typing in the new category name in the details. The category will now show up in the list and you can drag the rest of the variables into it.

A small improvement: Use set world transform instead of location and rotation and you can set the Z scale to be -1 and +1 depending on the modulo 2 of the index and now you have a mirrored decal without extra material

Thanks man! This will come in handy for a uni project i'm doing, great tutorial for people like myself that hasn't worked around construction scripts before as I was able to not only finish the entire thing but algo learned a lot on the way there. Definitely will recommend!

@@badanos I have been looking at the possibility of adding the actual decal size, the x,y,z values that can be accessed when you just click and drag a decal into UE4, as parameters that can be edited by the spline tool. Is this something you've thought about? Or perhaps you have a suggestion on how I could implement it?

Curving decals is complicated. Better use meshes that can be deformed

Great job! Is there a way for this to be used for roads? Because then the decals have to bend also and be precisely connected to each other

Decals are projected maps so I’m not sure this is possible yet this way.

How could this be used with existing splines in my scene? Basically, I have tons of curves in my scene imported from Blender which represent road lines and I would like to array decal road markings along them.

That might be the decal stretching over the sides of the walls trying to project unsuccesfuly
