Visit our Website for more information: www.ism.ie/ This video is the fourth in a series of driver training videos provided by Irish School of Motoring which shows learner drivers correct observation for moving off and mirrors.
So important to check your blind spot moving off from a parked position and to keep the head moving at junctions, especially on a right turn because you are crossing two lanes.
Very good tip to give a look even if you have a green light (1.30 in above video), it should be quite manageable especially considering the traffic lights are a controlled junction. There could be a cyclist breaking a red light from your left or right.
At what times should I be checking blind spots over my left and right shoulder? Is it correct to say both shoulders when moving off, and then just the left or right shoulder when making a left or right turn?
what would your advice be to people who talegate all the time and even when i slow down to let them pass they dont should this be report every time it happesn
I failed my test on observation. I had 9 faults, 6 in observation and for on moving off. He said at the end that because I didn't look over both my shoulders everytime I moved off that he had to fail me. I used all my mirrors. If he let me away with it once I would have passed. Kind of a joke. Ah well time to re-book and pay another 85 euro.
Nah second time I failed for changing gears wrong and third time I failed for not looking left before turning right. I gave up. Emigrated to england since. Gonna do my test here when I feel like it.
I know it's bs.. I'm in Australia, failed two days ago on Obs check too. Shame cos I passed on everything else. I'm worried if I go for it again I'll be too busy doing head checks I'll fail on something else.
At the end some old fart decides,8 years as a pro-delivery driver with no single point on my license and no accidents and over 400k miles experience, he won't let me pass my driving assessment for special license...told me to go and take lessons....
The RSA in Ireland is total bullshit, what about the older generation of people that didn't have to take the test? And I would say that if you got into a car with a full lincenced driver they would fail this test cause in my opinion driving like this frustrates other road users
